These days, parenting tips are available from a wealth of sources and sometimes it can be tricky to know who to listen to. The team at Nurofen for Children would love to hear who you turn to for the best parenting advice and why you trust or listen to them most of all.

Here's what Nurofen for Children says,"Being a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, full of challenges and triumphs at every stage. We understand seeking advice from a variety of sources is an important part of feeling confident in the decisions you make for your children, so we’d love to hear who you turn to for advice (and the reasons you love the tips they give)".

So please share on this thread your best sources of advice: whether it's a trusted friend who has been there and done that, your own mum, your health visitor, a magazine or blog, the content pages or talk boards on MN Wink etc. They'd also like to know why you love that source of advice so much - perhaps you could share the best advice you've been given and why it worked for you.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

MNHQ

I always go to friends because they understand and are always there to support. Also lots of times going through the same things!

Mumsnet is always my first port of call for help and advice. I always get great ideas and the confidence that I am doing alright.

In the early days definitely my mum. When I discovered Mumsnet, it was very comforting to be able to come online and find answers.

I would usually turn to friends or family and check out advice on the Internet.

i usually turn to my mum i am the oldest of nine and there is nothing she hasn't experienced when it comes to kids, she also a retired youth worker so is used to giving sound advice without judgement, one thing about my mum is she never gives unwanted advice and will only put her penny in when asked so no interfering couldn't ask for a better mum .

Online friends, they don't judge and we all have children of similar ages and are going through the same thing.

My step mum. She's very maternal but also very honest and doesn't beat around the bush. She's also a teacher which I think offers a different outlook.

Mum first and foremost, she's been through it, then friends and family, then Mumsnet, for everything else! :)

Trust my own instincts most of the time and do sanity check by talking to other moms on mums forums

I often turn to friends and fellow mums I know at school to share advice. I do regularly turn to sites like Mumsnet too and the forums have helped me with suggestions for keeping my son's eczema under control as well as helping me feel at ease with other medical issues.

It depends on what advice is needed! If it's opinions on products, days out etc, I use Mumsnet. If its anything about school/education I speak to other mums at school. If its medical, of course its our Doctor. We have a fab GP whose always willing to listen, even if I think I'm being silly!

I have several friends who all had babies around the same time, so our children are all the same age. We often discuss our children - so my main advice would come from them! And of course my Mom! :)

My mum of course! (and sometimes mumsnet). I'm one of 5 and my mum did a great job at raising four of us as a single parent. She's been through it all! A true inspiration :)

My sister as she has been fostering for over ten years and is such an expert!
