It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I used to make resolutions and fail repeatedly. Now, I don't make any because I know I just won't keep them. Why resolve to do something just for the sake of it, just because it's the New Year?! It's far better to resolve to do something when you're in the right mindframe for it and committed to sticking to it!

My new years resolution was to lose weight and get fitter. Its going well so far! I've dramatically changed what I'm eating, with 3 healthy meals a day, including masses of vegetables and very little snacking (usually fruit). I'm not hungry because of the sheer amount of vegetables I'm eating. Also I am trying to do some exercise every day, 2 very short sessions but its more than it was. Mostly I am using a fitness game for the nintendo wii, called 'my fitness coach'. You can do a workout in as little as 15 minutes but it tailors all the exercises to you. So far, since starting on January 1st I have lost 13lb. But I still have about 2 stone more I'd like to lose so better keep going!

Mine's going well so far. I aim to exercise at least 5 times each week and use my fitbit to keep track of it.

I'm staying gluten free - because I have to! Not really anything to break when you haven't got a choice!! :)

Diet and exercise was going well until we had a few disasters this month. Finally got a stinker of a cold and gave in to the biscuit tin last night!
Back on the straight and narrow today though :)

Nine is make healthier choices. It's going okay so far but I know I can motivate myself to do better which is my aim for February. I am keeping it all very broad to avoid restrictions on myself

I've joined Slimming World this year as a new group opened up in my village. It's only been a week but I am trying hard as I want to lose weight by my brothers wedding in June. Thats the main resolution. The other one is to stop smoking! I have cut down, so working hard on both of them

My new year resolution was to smile and laugh more, so far it's been 50/50. I'm trying to watch lighthearted programmes and read funny, positive inspirational books but it's so easy to be negative and moan when it's dark and cold outside.

Very slowly-mine was to lose weight after i had an accident that damaged my back and the nerves in my leg causing drop foot...what a palava. Its slowly healing but i'm getting fatter due to my doc upping my antidepressant meds....still, onwards and upwards, i will HAVE to get there in the end...baby steps,

I had the usual eat healthier resolutions which have gone to pot already. However I also aimed to get back to work this year and have already accepted a job so that is good.

The family and I have been keeping fit and eating more healthy for nearly a month now, and we are doing great. It's much more fun doing it as a family than own your own. The kids love doing alongside their parents!
