It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Mine was to meal plan and eat healthier. Some weeks have been better than other but I'm sticking with it!

arabella505 · 30/01/2016 21:36

My resolutions barely lasted the first week 😒

Blondie1982 · 30/01/2016 21:46

I'm doing okay at the moment, still persevering with my 5:2 days

angelabbie · 30/01/2016 21:47

Going, Going,Gone

RoosterCogburn · 30/01/2016 21:53

Mine was to spend less, I seem to have developed a habit of online shopping and just buying stuff continually.
This month each time I wanted something I saved the link in my online diary and then left it for a week - apart from on one occasion I decided I didn't actually need to make the purchase.
I've made a good start, now I just need to keep it up.

Gled1 · 30/01/2016 22:13

My resolution is to drink more water. It has an added benefit in that I reach 10,000 steps more easily thanks to extra trips to the bathroom!

turboshandy · 30/01/2016 22:24

My resolution was to diet and I'm really struggling! I've opted for a vlcd (very low cal) as I did this last year and was quite successful but this time round I'm just craving proper food. Arghhhhhhh!

Gill81uk · 30/01/2016 22:39

I only managed to start mine last week, but is going well up to now!! I find it too much pressure starting on the 1st Jan as I have far too many Christmas treats left that I want to enjoy. I was lucky enough to get a fit bit so I finally got round to activating it this week, and I'm finding it really motiviating so think I should do ok now.

hbakfam · 30/01/2016 22:57

Mine was to travel more, but I need a long term job first so I can plan properly!

slbhill42 · 30/01/2016 22:59

Well I've almost lost the 4lb I put on over Christmas, slow and steady wins the race and all that ;-)

peanutmum111 · 30/01/2016 23:02

My plan is to do a small walk everyday. I'm waiting for a valve operation on my heart, so unable to do much.
The small walk is left to the library and shops, or right to the other shops, which is even shorter.
I am going right at the moment due to a chest infection ! but I am going out rain, wind or shine ????????????

matphil · 30/01/2016 23:16

I didn't really make any this year, I was just going to try and be a more confident person, it's not really happening so far.

manfalou · 30/01/2016 23:17

Going Well! Drinking more water and staying active!

lottiegirl · 30/01/2016 23:34

My resolution was to never make any resolutions, so that's worked pretty well

ClarenceTheLion · 30/01/2016 23:44

My resolutions are going terribly!

Lose weight - have not paid any attention to that yet

Exercise - nope, not yet...

Keep redecorating the house - nothing done since November

Learn to declutter and tidy efficiently - bought a few books that have disappeared into the clutter!

Smoosh · 30/01/2016 23:45

I didn't make any, so it's going well!

hutchina1986 · 31/01/2016 00:37

My partner and I have been together for 10 years and made a resolution to make more time for each other by going on a date once a month. We went on one this month and have reservations for valentines day, so far so good.

rocketriffs · 31/01/2016 00:41

Well, spending less on ebay is going well. I've not been tempted to buy things like guitars ( last year I bought 5 really expensive top brand instruments) and the pledge I made to do more cycling and not use the car for short runs has been hampered by the atrocious weather.

GeorgeW78 · 31/01/2016 01:58

I wanted to have more meat free days. I've had some but not as many as I was hoping. I need to get inspired with some new recipes!

defairmans · 31/01/2016 03:26

I'm doing surprisingly well so far. I'm eating a lot healthier, which is really good. I just need to keep the exercising up. It's been a positive New 2016.

claza93 · 31/01/2016 07:19

Not as well as I had hoped! Seemed to have lost the motivation to go out running! Hoping that it comes back next month and can start building up to my aim of 10k

nonnyno · 31/01/2016 08:21

I resolved to cut down on spending. It's going very well so far. Thanks to the foul weather and flooding I can't get to the shops very often!

carpathian · 31/01/2016 08:22

mine is to lose lose another half stone by my birthday ive lost two and a half stone last year already baby steps a pound at a time :)

Flossiecrossie · 31/01/2016 08:56

I find the pressure of keeping to resolutions in January very dificult, so if I feel there are things I need to change I will make the resolution later in the year when I am ready to keep to them.

Ememem84 · 31/01/2016 09:02

I resolved to:

give up booze in January then drink less in February onwards -failed the January part;

Exercise more - succeeded in gymming at least twice a week and walking more;

Healthier eating - ok so I had two donuts the other day but I promise I'm eating kale too!!;

Saving money - success have barely spent anything. I looked at what I needed. And what I have. And am using things up and wearing things I have.

I think in the most part I'm being successful
