It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I have been eating more healthy foods which is one goal and I have stayed away from all the sales to avoid unneccessary spending. This year it was much easier than usual because I was totally broke after Christmas! I didn't spend anything this year apart from 2 pairs of school shoes for the kids. I also had a goal to get fitter and do more exercise...well I have walked a lot more and a lot further than usual, but I haven't met anywhere near the goals of activity I set myself! I guess win some, lose some and I still have another 11 months to reach my goal! Just because I didn't achieve everything in the first month, it doesn't mean I need to give up trying!

Bsummers · 29/01/2016 23:29

They're going fine, I'm trying to believe in myself more and be more positive for 2016, it's going well so far!

Mullen2017 · 30/01/2016 10:32

Mine is to spend more time enjoying the outdoors.

Jezzamk · 30/01/2016 10:53

I wanted to eat healthier and make a bigger effort to exercise more by cycling and walking. So far I have been unwell for most of January and so no walking or cycling and the eating more fruit and veg doesn't seem to have helped.

Not giving up just yet.

I was hoping to eat healthy and lose weight before my holiday in March. I have kept to eating healthy and I have lost nearly half a stone.

theno1dj · 30/01/2016 12:14

Still not had a drink yet and the fitness id going well.

Pimmpom · 30/01/2016 13:32

So far so good. I wanted to practise yoga every other day at home and I have been doing this so far and feeling the benefits! Smile

Gilla01 · 30/01/2016 14:05

My resolution was to lose at least a stone.

Perhaps now the last of the Christmas goodies has gone my weight could start to go as well.
Difficult to diet with everyone else tucking into to treat.

kevinb1967 · 30/01/2016 14:14

Fairly well - I wanted to walk more and eat healthier and I'm doing ok so far - but it's still only January......

toodles60 · 30/01/2016 15:59

I sadly lost one of my children just before xmas, my daughter. Before that happened i was determined to lose weight and help lower my blood sugars. Then after this happened i decided for me anyway, it was more important to make a resolution to tell my children and family that i love them every day, to always be kind and to live in the moment because you never know what tomorrow may bring. Its early days yet but i am determined to do this instead of worrying about tomorrow and all the problems we all have. So, i think i've made a good start as the petty things no longer anger me.

FaithAscending · 30/01/2016 16:17

toodles Thanks

k8vincent · 30/01/2016 16:29

Not to be grumpy with the children . . . yes, well . . . it has been January after all!

ffluffy · 30/01/2016 16:35

I'm not making January resolutions this year. I'm starting Feb 1st with increasing my exercise.

funkyfreks · 30/01/2016 16:52

Errrrr 1 word - FAILED

avery64 · 30/01/2016 16:53

My resolution is to not waste my time worrying about issues I cannot address, rather focus my time and energy on those I can such as weight and fitness. Easier said than done given my personality....a born worrier! However I am quite pleased with how this month has gone. I bought an extra diary and keep it in the kitchen. Each day I write down a list of the positives that have happened and then jot down what I hope to achieve tomorrow. Somehow writing things down (even though I am the only one reading it) helps me to keep me on track. As the end of January approaches I can see I have only lost a couple of pounds (looking on the positive side I haven't put any weight on) and I have managed to increase the number of lengths I swim daily from 64 to 80-100 depending on what time I have available. The extra exercise has ensured I sleep well which means I have not woken in the small hours to worry about everything and nothing. This is a real bonus for me (and hubby) as I am not constantly tossing and turning :)

Ferryfairy · 30/01/2016 16:59

At the end of last year I decided to start learning to play the piano. Getting gold stars from my teacher every week (proud)

broughton100 · 30/01/2016 18:20

well dry January turned into trying to be dry and weightloss isn't going well but I am doing my best!

maddie57 · 30/01/2016 18:31

Have broken them all so far so starting again on chinese neew year!

cristalfiona · 30/01/2016 19:19

Good so far, I have been running more and apart from the odd slip I have been eating more healthily as well.

suzyq50 · 30/01/2016 19:26

I'm sticking to them so far. Only drink booze at the weekend & swapped coffee for herbal tea. I think I feel better for it.

Minnie43 · 30/01/2016 19:40

The resolution's are going ok, the biggie is of course the dreaded post Xmas diet Angry.
Finding it much harder this year to stay on track for some reason, so have changed meal times after getting inspiration from a program on the Beeb. Apparently shifting meals closer together and having dinner early (we're trying 5pm) allows the body to use up fat before bedtime so is healthier not only for me but the whole family too.
Also Saccharin is a no-no, so it's Stevia all the way from now on!
With a bit of luck, fingers crossed, these tips will keep me on track. There's definitely a war being waged against Cake & Chocolate, just hope I'm on the winning side Smile

Nix143 · 30/01/2016 20:35

Great! I'm 6lb down and dry!

AutumnElla · 30/01/2016 20:39

My new years resolution was to be more organised and although I'm not as organised as I would like to be I'm getting there x

Rebecca361 · 30/01/2016 21:04

I have lost a few pounds, slower than expected!
