It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I promised myself to get out and do more things with the baby. So far it's still going well. We go out a couple of times a week on our own :)

Mumtotwo22 · 26/01/2016 11:45

I'm trying to be more positive about myself and build some
Self esteem because it was pretty much rock bottom. I've started focusing in what I'm good at and even started selling some of the sculptures I make online which is a big confidence boost for me. I'm getting there, I just need to remember that no one is perfect and stop comparing myself to other people. P.s sorry if this gets posted twice. It wasn't working!

Broken, but reinstated :)

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 26/01/2016 15:54

I decided it was time to get healthy and lose a significant amount of weight... (I really need it!)

I've been walking minimum 10k steps a day on my Fitbit, but up to 25k, and cut out sugar, carbs and am only drinking water...

I've lost over a stone and a half! Grin

Snog · 26/01/2016 18:19

Mine was to prioritise making time for myself and I'm actually doing it!
I'm having a weekly lunch and crafting session with a friend and going to a Women's circle session one evening too.

WBC0101 · 26/01/2016 19:30

My resolution was to continue with loosing weight (Started in November) and this week I reached a 1.5stone loss altogether

mmahoney2 · 26/01/2016 20:59

I want to run on a regular basis. I have managed to run 2.5 miles 4 times since the new year, and I aimed to run on 3 occasions. So far so good! My aim is to eventually enter into a 5k race then a 10k race.

tubbyj · 26/01/2016 22:27

Get healthier, a few wobblesbut the kilos still coming off

kirstycooper01 · 26/01/2016 22:44

My goal was to lose weight but I actually started before the new year at the beginning of December and I was doing really well, had lost half a stone, but I came down with a really bad chest infection which has lasted all of January so far so haven't been able to exercise and I've been eating more and laid up in bed, I've ended up putting some weight back on which is annoying!!

Liss85 · 27/01/2016 01:09

My resolution was to join a slimming group and finally lose weight. I had recruited companions, looked at the new plan and figured out where my nearest meeting was.

Then I found out I was pregnant so I can't join a group or lose weight! Still trying to eat healthily though!

beautyadoration · 27/01/2016 03:10

Oooh mine are actually going very very well .

I want to blog more and I set myself a target of 3 posts a month which doesn't seem like much but is a huge achievement for me due to mental health issues. I've already hit that goal and I've been planning it all out for next month etc so I'm really happy with how I have done.

Another one was to cook more meals from scratch, ditch the takeaway (unless it was bought for me) and give up on coca cola, exercise more and drink 3 litres of water each day so I can lose weight and be healthy. We're 27 days in and I'm 10lbs down and have stuck to everything I've said! I think the best thing is having that little bit of extra money at the end of the month :-) me and my partner said we'd love to donate to charities more so that is what we've been doing with some of the money.

So yes, so far so good :-) I'm hoping I can keep this up . I'm feeling pretty positive as I've set myself realistic goals this year.

cwalliss82 · 27/01/2016 07:30

I have several goals. Be out of the 11 stones and back in the 10s by the end of Feb (already there :) ). Run Rugby Half Marathon in under 2 hrs in July. Run 1000 miles in 2016. Be out of the 10 stones and into the 9s by the end of 2016. All going well so far.

Cambam2010 · 27/01/2016 13:52

My New Years Resolutions was to lose the weight I gained over Christmas and New Year and to start a healthier eating regime whereby I eat a lot less processed foods. So far I am 2.5lb away from losing all the festive weight (I gained about 12lb) I haven't yet abandoned all processed foods but I have drastically cut down on sugar and have invested in a couple of slow cookers to make hearty meals from scratch.

funkyfish586 · 27/01/2016 17:26

Mine was to not drink so much wine but I have failed massively. I love wine

LizB62A · 27/01/2016 18:08

I'm 2 weeks into Slimming World and 4.5 lbs down so far
Have also gone gluten-free and dairy-free to see if that helps my bad eczema
And now only drink on Fridays and Saturdays !
So, so far, so good !

rejcomp · 27/01/2016 19:49

If you don't make any you can't break them :D

jwjuliejulie · 27/01/2016 19:51

Going great guns!!! Looking after myself, losing weight and having fun!!! :-)

tinarenn · 27/01/2016 21:04

K3rry · 27/01/2016 22:04

I just wanted to start exercising and be more organised and so far it's all going well

clopper · 27/01/2016 22:26

Cut down on carbs...failed. Stop biting nails....big fail. Exercise more ...fail. Go to bed earlier... Going well.

melmoo · 27/01/2016 23:02

Lots of exercise was my resolution. So far it's going really well, but I have a cold coming and that will prove a test.

chr1ssy0908 · 27/01/2016 23:08

On course, on target and not bored of it yet! Lets get to april before I crack open the bubbly for having a successful resolution this time around though! ;)

thekidsmama · 27/01/2016 23:58

Mine's going great so far, I made it my resolution to be much more sensible with money as some bills were just getting ignored last year which really isn't like me, well so far I have re-budgeted what we can afford, arranged payment plans with all my debtors (large enough to pay off quicker but small enough to cope) It feels like a weight off already, hopefully by Summer a few of the debts will be cleared and we can start putting money aside for treat days now and then :-D

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 28/01/2016 07:00

I've been running (once) and (pretty much) stuck to dry January.
Ordered a load of clothes and sent them all back.
HashtagJoylessJanuary Grin

On a more positive side, I have arranged to meet several long-lost friends over the year, and been for dinner twice with local pals in a bid to be more sociable.

FeelingSmurfy · 28/01/2016 09:52

This year I decided to make a change, instead of the usual go to the gym/diet/stop drinking etc I decided to make a resolution that was more realistic and would benefit us all. I decided to make the resolution that I would spend more time with my family and friends, proper quality time. So far it has been happening and I have arranged stuff for the next few months to make sure it continues. We are all really enjoying it and I have been told "this is my favourite resolution that I didn't even make"
