Doing a poo in the earth filled container that the Christmas tree was standing in Xmas Hmm.

4yoniD · 09/12/2015 21:19

Christmas eve my 2 dogs managed to get hold of - and eat - a box of chocolates. Little chocolates each individually wrapped.

(I know its poisonous, I thought they couldn't reach it but failed to take in to account I had one really clever dog and one really large dog who could work together)

I wasn't too impressed - until I got a christmas suprise; the dog shit glistened and glinted with brightly coloured foil pieces! Happy Christmas :)

sianihedgehog · 10/12/2015 07:09

Spot the cat left a yule log in the fireplace on Christmas morning. It had tinsel in it.

SerenityReynolds · 10/12/2015 07:51

This happened when I was still at school. A couple of friends have birthdays very close to Christmas and a group of us liked to do the teenage sleepover thing. So 7-8 of us are squished into my friends' lounge and just dozing off after a few movies. Her cat decides to wander in for a visit and proceeds to jump into and knock over the Christmas tree on top of those of us sleeping on the floor. Pine needles, baubles and a grumpy cat are NOT the ideal combination to wake up to!

We foolishly put a terrier in the back of the car with a box of presents on Christmas Day. A rustling noise alerted us to the fact that he'd found his way into a box of ludicrously expensive handmade chocolates and had licked two thirds of them looking for one he thought he might like. We had to go home and re-wrap some of mine to give to Granny. In fact, I think the chocolates were a bit hardcore for both of them. (I ate the dog-mauled ones myself. I'm not proud.)

Although she may appear to be thoroughly festive, this little madam once managed to strip the entire Christmas tree of decorations over the course of an evening when we were out. She also chewed through the fairy lights which were thankfully switched off!

Suscat likes to use the bottom branches of our artificial tree as a toothbrush, chewing on it. She also likes to lick envelopes, something I like to think of as Merry Catmas Kisses...

The hamster also used tinsel as bedding one year. Thankfully she never seems to have swallowed any, but it made for a lovely glittery nest!

We have a cat, Pepper, who occasionally followed us to school/into town/up to the corner shop - especially if he gets to sit down and wait for us in the middle of the main road...
Anyway, four Christmases ago when dd2 was three months old, we were heading to my dsil's for Christmas dinner with each guest bringing a different bit of the meal. We were bringing the turkey which had been cooked at ours. In order to get the turkey there without having to take the car we decided to put it in dd2's pushchair and wheel it round.

I'm sure I won't be the only person who has taken their Christmas dinner for a stroll round the block, being careful not to upset their jugs of gravy.

Pushchair was parked in sil's porch, the turkey was delivered to sil's, dinner was eaten, prosecco was quaffed, children ate a whole tub of quality street, and at about 9pm we decided we should get both dds to bed. We opened the front door, and out of the pushchair jumped Pepper, having followed us (and the turkey) on our journey and then waited, sitting in the pushchair for a full 8 hours while we stuffed our faces with deliciousness. Feeling slightly guilty, we gave him some bits of leftover turkey and headed home.

He now follows us everywhere. And waits, and waits, and waits. I have seen nice old ladies give him a titbit whilst he waits, but I know what he is waiting for.... Only the finest free-range, organic, bronze turkey will do.

When ghd hair straighteners first came out, I treated myself to a pair as an early Christmas present. I also had a very silly teething spaniel puppy at the same time. The ghd's only lasted a few hours. Thank god they weren't plugged in was all I could say. The spaniel bought us 11 years of joy and was soon forgiven!

Our pets have been strangely compliant at Christmas, but a hamster once escaped and got inside the tumble dryer... that took a while to resolve, but the hamster was fine. Unlike my sister who got bitten and had to go to hospital for a tetanus jab!

GingerPCatt · 11/12/2015 16:41

I've been working on Christmas cards today. Put them in a pile on top of the sideboard to take to the post office tomorrow. Where's the only place evil cat wants to sit right now? On top of my cards getting hair and muddy paw prints on them!! I've now put them in a drawer. She's still sitting on my address book 😒

DingleberryFinn · 11/12/2015 19:21

Cat + Christmas tree. Nuff said.

VaseandCandle · 11/12/2015 19:55

Our cat used to climb up the Christmas tree. We had to pin it to the wall.

Silverstones · 11/12/2015 23:41

So naive! When we first got our kitten, we didn't realise cats eat cheese. So we'd invited all the neighbours round for a Christmas cheese and cocktails party, and had put the cheese out in the dining room while we had a bath and got changed...

And came downstairs to find a very sick kitten and not much cheese left!

imustbemadme · 12/12/2015 04:57

Our dog Scully disappeared one year, not for long but whilst she was having fun, we were frantically searching everywhere for her, retracing every part of her normal walk to see if she'd gone on her own. As we arrived back home our neighbour casually asks us if we knew our dog was rolling around in her back garden, such a relief....it's like losing your child in the supermarket!

pockledigg · 12/12/2015 04:59

One of our dogs got hold of the prawn shells from the starters on Christmas day. She gobbled them down then promptly sicked them up in front of our guests who were eating their dinner. Very embarrassing. She then carried on the theme by emitting silent but deadly windy-pops for the rest of the day.........

TracyKNixon · 12/12/2015 05:21

My parents rescue labrador cocked it's leg up their tree. My 2 kittens demolished our tree when they decided to play chase about among the branches!

WinterBabyof89 · 12/12/2015 06:16

It's my first kittens Christmas (she turns one on the 17th) so she's mesmerised by the Christmas tree. She's also pretty persistent at eating the tree branches and nibbling on the baubles.

Unrelated to Christmas, but she's also just broken my very expensive bedroom chandelier which I can't afford to replace so DH will have to repair most likely a botch job repair knowing him

We love her though :)

foxymama1983 · 12/12/2015 06:18

Our cat Misty is a menace. She knocks cards on the floor and keeps going for the Christmas tree. Its still standing at the moment, but I am sure she will attempt to knock it over before long

hiddenmichelle · 12/12/2015 06:40

Our new dog LOVES paper. you should have seen the place Christmas Day when the presents were unwrapped! She is like a canine shredder! Terrible (but funny) mess!

ThemisA · 12/12/2015 07:18

We had set out a buffet for Christmas Day tea so that anyone could help themselves when they felt hungry. We had not banked on Sophie the dog joining in. She came darting through the living room with an enormous brie in her mouth and managed to eat half of it before I could get it off her!

MimiJoy · 12/12/2015 07:28

A few years ago, our gorgeous Airedale went missing - we couldn't find her anywhere. She used to love going for rides in the back of the car and got more excited about this than "walkies". I eventually spotted her seated in the back of a mini at the garage opposite whilst the owner went to pay for his petrol! It was an hilarious sight and caused great laughter all round ...

claza93 · 12/12/2015 07:43

We let the guinea pigs out for a treat on Christmas morning and spent the entire day searching the house for them! Took hours but eventually we caught them and they were safely back in their cage for their Christmas day treats!

bobble5366 · 12/12/2015 07:44

when my little maltese opened some stocking fillers, he must have opened one with a slinky in, and as he loves all things round and bouncy started to throw it around, I'd only left him alone for just over 1/2 an hour, I laughed when I returned and saw him in a complete tangle completely tied up with a mangled slinky (long coloured spring which is supposed to climb down stairs) took me a while to untangle him thankfully unphased from the experience.

lindseystuart85 · 12/12/2015 07:45

Last Christmas our kitten (Ivy) was only 9 weeks old, I stupidly left her in the living room over night, Santa must have woke her up because in the morning she had opened most of the presents with her teeth, not only was there wrapping paper every where but my christmas tree Fairy yes Fairy (from the top of the tree) was lying on the floor in amongst all the paper looking like she had one too many the night before
Luckily Ivy has grown up this year (Fingers crossed)
