With Christmas just around the corner, Snazaroo want to know what children’s costume ideas Mumsnetters have to get into the holiday spirit.

Snazaroo says, “Get inspired by our Snazaroo Snow Princess Birthday party this winter season. Snazaroo is offering lots of facepaint ideas, perfect for the winter. If it’s an ice fairy, a snowman or reindeer that catches your eye then why not replicate these in 3-easy-steps! You can also find some ideas for party games, decorations or food on Snazaroo.co.uk. Snazaroo provides you all the tips to help you throw the perfect fairy-tale like party and paint smiles this winter!”

So, what are your Christmas fancy dress ideas? Would you stick some pointy ears on your DC and dress them up in an elf suit? Maybe you’d dress them up as Father Christmas by popping a fake white beard on them, dressing them in red and stuffing a pillow under their t-shirt? Or perhaps your child would prefer a cool Christmas tree outfit which you can both decorate together? Whatever your ideas are, Snazaroo would love to hear them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

brown pipe cleaners on a headband make great antlers for a reindeer!

I find making great fancy dress costumes quite tricky, and knowing that they may be judged on the outfit gets me nervous. Is it naughty to say that I rely on Pound shops for seasonal costumes? I do keep and recycle though, and they are quite good value.
To add the cherry on top I love to do face painting, the kids love it too, the look on their faces when they look in the mirror and see the creation is magical. For us Christmas time is an opportunity to celebrate, let our hair down and go crazy not only with a load of face paint, but also glitter gel too, mwahahaha!

The local primary school, where my three older children went and my youngest DD is currently, always put on a Christmas play where they include everyone from years 1 and 2 (the Reception classes have their own, smaller nativity). I will never forget when my DS was in Year 1 - I received a note home stating that he was going to be "sand" in the play and could we provide a suitable costume. I ended up buying two bright yellow towels, stitching them together to make a tunic and then buying some shimmery gold fabric to drape over the towels - the most random Christmas fancy dress outfit I have ever had to produce!

Full Christmas tree effect with LED lights and an angel/fairy on top of the head. Baubles sewn onto to a fluffy green jumper. Brilliant.
