With Christmas just around the corner, Snazaroo want to know what children’s costume ideas Mumsnetters have to get into the holiday spirit.

Snazaroo says, “Get inspired by our Snazaroo Snow Princess Birthday party this winter season. Snazaroo is offering lots of facepaint ideas, perfect for the winter. If it’s an ice fairy, a snowman or reindeer that catches your eye then why not replicate these in 3-easy-steps! You can also find some ideas for party games, decorations or food on Snazaroo.co.uk. Snazaroo provides you all the tips to help you throw the perfect fairy-tale like party and paint smiles this winter!”

So, what are your Christmas fancy dress ideas? Would you stick some pointy ears on your DC and dress them up in an elf suit? Maybe you’d dress them up as Father Christmas by popping a fake white beard on them, dressing them in red and stuffing a pillow under their t-shirt? Or perhaps your child would prefer a cool Christmas tree outfit which you can both decorate together? Whatever your ideas are, Snazaroo would love to hear them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

rudolph with a red nose

Cailin7 · 06/12/2015 19:00

antlers, santa hats and tinsel

Ikea1234 · 06/12/2015 19:02

Elf on the shelf is easy. A green t shirt and brown trousers means you can hang a few baubles on,a bit of tinsel and you have a Christmas tree. There's good old antlers and a red nose from Comic Relief andyou have Rudolph. Finally, a box wrapped up with some ribbon, and Voila! A present.

An Elf or a Christmas Tree would be a good choice of costume

lornies79 · 06/12/2015 19:15

My little brother always dresses up as santa and runs across the garden then chats to my children and their cousins about Christmas. I think my youngest boys (1 and 2 years old} would look really cute dressed as elves!

maryandbuzz1 · 06/12/2015 19:17

My son Loves anything scary so as long as he has some sort of cape The dress part of it easy. However the face painting takes an age as he likes scars and bloody wounds! Although one year I had to manage Bart Simpson!

tiddles12 · 06/12/2015 19:50

easy to do an angel with a white dress, tinsel, wire coat hanger halo with tinsel again and white fairy wings

KAKADU2001 · 06/12/2015 19:52

Problem with Fancy Dress at Xmas is that we have seen all of the fairy's and santa's and other costumes hundreds of times before. I would go as the Invisible man. I wonder how many of the party goers, especially after a few drinks will tell me that they can actually see me. Of course they will be be seeing things won't they?

spottypjs · 06/12/2015 19:55

Stripy leggings or red leggings, green jumper, little hat = elf. Im rubbish at fancy dress ideas!

fazkin · 06/12/2015 19:56

They love being angels. My DS would look cute as a sprout though

andreaca · 06/12/2015 20:06

Ooh I think dressing up as the grinch would be fab, for all, adults and children.x

janeyf1 · 06/12/2015 20:10

my nieces like to dress as princesses - they look pretty convincing and we recommend it because it gives confidence

feefeegabor · 06/12/2015 20:16

Being veggies I'd love to see a Nut Roast outfit instead of the Turkey!

Laineyflo · 06/12/2015 20:23

My DS has asked to dress as a gingerbread man for his School Christmas party...no idea where it's come from but it's different, so we're going to run with it! I just need my lovely Mummy and her sewing machine's help! Xmas Wink

honeyb11 · 06/12/2015 20:25

I had a great Christmas party where I dressed up as an elf - see for yourself :)

prwilson · 06/12/2015 20:29

They love being elves.

Sallyannlloydjones · 06/12/2015 20:37

One of Santa's elves ...green cord trousers and xmas jumper, christmas hat and false pointed ears and red cheeks made with face paint.

apn1179 · 06/12/2015 20:38

Fairies for girls and elves for boys

mave · 06/12/2015 21:19

Customised outfit for my daughter, white leggings and Lacey dress/ top with silver tinsel for her angel this year

mickaul232 · 06/12/2015 21:40

Santa Claus outfit

TattieHowkerz · 06/12/2015 21:53

Dd wants to be Santa! I am toying with trying to throw something together. There will be a nativity at nursery but we aren't told what they will be and aren't asked to do costumes.

laurac1987 · 06/12/2015 21:54

Mrs Clause if it was me that had to dress up!

grannybiker · 06/12/2015 21:55

remember DS dressing up as a Christmas tree. The outfit involved that fake grass and some cheap battery fairy lights and baubles pinned on.

hannonle · 06/12/2015 22:04

Is christmas fancy dress even a thing??

I'd just wear green and drape tinsel and baubles to become a christmas tree.

Dencop · 06/12/2015 22:04

A pair of white leggings, a lovely white hoody with eyes stitched on and some felt ears added and hey ho instant sheep :) not forgetting the tail :)
