With Christmas just around the corner, Snazaroo want to know what children’s costume ideas Mumsnetters have to get into the holiday spirit.

Snazaroo says, “Get inspired by our Snazaroo Snow Princess Birthday party this winter season. Snazaroo is offering lots of facepaint ideas, perfect for the winter. If it’s an ice fairy, a snowman or reindeer that catches your eye then why not replicate these in 3-easy-steps! You can also find some ideas for party games, decorations or food on Snazaroo.co.uk. Snazaroo provides you all the tips to help you throw the perfect fairy-tale like party and paint smiles this winter!”

So, what are your Christmas fancy dress ideas? Would you stick some pointy ears on your DC and dress them up in an elf suit? Maybe you’d dress them up as Father Christmas by popping a fake white beard on them, dressing them in red and stuffing a pillow under their t-shirt? Or perhaps your child would prefer a cool Christmas tree outfit which you can both decorate together? Whatever your ideas are, Snazaroo would love to hear them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I work really hard and I have NO sewing skills but I have such fond memories of my own, home-made costumes when I was a child. I have resisted the urge to just go and shop-by my daughter's Christmas costumes and have a bash at making them myself!

cheryl100 · 11/12/2015 12:58

A Christmas cracker, a snowman or a candle!

DingleberryFinn · 11/12/2015 19:20

Wrap self in wrapping paper, bow round middle = Christmas present costume.

kittykomp · 11/12/2015 20:17

Reindeer onesies here!

happysouls · 12/12/2015 17:58

I'd love to see a little Robin outfit, I think it would look so cute!

marshgirl · 12/12/2015 18:23

My daughter was a sheep one year so I got some white leggings and a white t-shirt . Then got hold of a huge bag of stuffing and stuck it onto the clothing , she looked amazing.

DD loves anything Frozen-related, she'd love an ice-princess dress-up outfit with a tiara and sparkly shoes.

DS - he was a lamb in last year's nativity & I got a fantastic hooded fleecy onesie for him. He would love a Rudolph costume!

I don't dress up as such, but do wear a Christmas jumper. We do like accessories (think Rudolph deeley-boppers!) & fun is important!

KittyKat88 · 12/12/2015 22:38

I've got my Snazaroo sets at the ready - I think DD1 will definitely ask to be an angel or fairy, but DD2 is really into reindeers at the minute so I best sort out the brown and red face-paints and get practising!

fm201069 · 13/12/2015 09:47

I shall be making a big fake santa beard from cotton wool. In a few years time I'll be old and grey enough to grow the real thing!

windowmouse · 13/12/2015 11:45

the grinch! get the green face paint out get going!

Tean1 · 13/12/2015 18:00

I once won second prize in a fancy dress competition with a Christmas tree costume, made out of 2 big pieces of card, cut to tree shape, then strips of green crepe paper stuck on in layers. My friends borrowed it for another party and won first prize at another party, it made everyone laugh too.

nazrana82 · 13/12/2015 19:24

wooohooo · 13/12/2015 19:52

cocochips · 13/12/2015 20:57

My little one dressed up as a fairy

sammylea80 · 13/12/2015 21:00

The easiest thing to do is become a Christmas tree, grab a green T-shirt and adorn it with Baubles and tinsel :)

Minnibix · 13/12/2015 23:25

My favourite is the Christmas Gnome easy to do, its just a Gnome with tinsel and a Christmas prezzie at the end of his fishing rod

sarah3875 · 14/12/2015 09:11

I've bought my baby boy a little reindeer costume. It's beautiful.
Not my idea, but I saw a group of grown up men dressed as a nativity. Shepherds, stars, Kings, sheep! They looked brilliant!

PhilTB54 · 14/12/2015 11:00

Darth Vadar top half. Pink tutu tights and ballet pumps bottom half. Looks real weird.

topgunmatt · 14/12/2015 12:10

Im Going out as a Turkey wrapped in foil - suppose I will be warm at least

LinnyBee · 14/12/2015 12:45

My daughter loves to be an angel with home-made wings made from wire coat hangers. I've tried to tell her angels don't have wands, but she has to have one!

sofieellis · 14/12/2015 14:34

We've always been lucky with school nativity plays, as the school has always provided the costumes. This is great as I'm not very good with sewing! Mine have been elves, kings and a donkey.

If I had to do one myself, I would probably go for a Christmas present - a cardboard box with lots of wrapping paper and ribbons!
