Christmas is fast approaching so now is the time to make sure your home is looking fabulous and ready for all the guests and festivities. Valspar would love to hear how you’re planning to ensure your home wows this year.

Valspar says: “The home is at the heart of Christmas, it’s the place where friends and family gather to spend quality time together, so it’s the perfect time to give it a refresh to make sure it’s looking at its best. Valspar’s unique colour matching technology can replicate any colour the eye can see, so whether you hope to spruce up the paint in the hallway in a shade to match a favourite fabric, or create a striking feature wall to match a festive bauble and complement your beautifully decorated Christmas tree, Valspar has it covered. Simply take a colour sample to your local B&Q and the exact shade can be matched in paint form.

Valspar’s super scrub formula also makes it perfect for busy family homes. After the party season, walls can be wiped down and scrubbed clean without chipping or compromising the colour – so whether there’s been a gravy explosion or a cranberry sauce mishap, you don’t have to worry.”

So, do you have a particular colour scheme you're going for when it comes to prepping the home for Christmas? Perhaps you’re going for a neutral theme, with handpicked Scandinavian decorations? Or will you be keeping traditional and filling your home with reds, greens and golds? Maybe you plan to get crafty and make your decorations from scratch?

However you’re planning to decorate this Christmas, Valspar would love to hear about it!

Everyone who adds a comment to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

We have a neutral drawing room - White Walls and wooden floorboards. Red and gold theme looks gorgeous and understated

Mine is as it always is - explosion in a paint factory is the best way to describe it!!! DH and DD cram as many lights and baubles onto the tree as the can, along with as many different colours of tinsel as they can find . One day i will have a co-ordinated tree. One day...............

I keep to the same colour theme which is red, white and green. Every year I add to it by buying one new decoration on a special day ie when all the family has spent the day together so it remind me of that.

I also use lots of holly, Rosemary, ivy etc to decorate the house although I have to do it last minute as it only lasts a couple of days.

Before children our tree was colour coordinated and so was the wrapping! Now it's a lovely collection of decorations, lots of different colours and the brightest, tackiest wrapping paper and bows I can find.

Colour theme was violet and midnight blue. It looked absolutely amazing!

I have young kids. Our theme was just sparkly, shiny, shimmery and wow!

We have a neutral house and so embrace the chance to make Christmas a riot of colour! Plenty of bright handmade decorations, paper chains and lots of sparkly things. We very much avoid anything too tasteful as we want to be reminded of our childhood Christmases in the 80's!

Dining table has red, white and silver theme. Christmas tree is anything goes! We have a holly wreath for the first team this year.

PegsPigs · 04/01/2016 19:19

Our decorations are silver and turquoise but I've made some homemade salt dough decorations with DD 2.10 and her colour scheme is not the same as mine!

Our house will look wonderfully festive. Guests will think we've put in plenty of effort.
Actually it's the same old stuff we wheel out every year. It includes loads of wire framed chrstmas elves that belonged to DH's parents that must be 60 years old and other rather aged ornaments.
