Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables have asked us to find out how you get the whole family together for a cosy night in.

Here’s what they say, "New Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables are a fun way for all the family to get involved, so we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about how they encourage the whole family to enjoy a family night in."

So, what do you do to ensure your busy family spends time together? Do you make sure everyone's favourite meal - or dessert - is on the menu? Perhaps there's a TV show that's guaranteed to gather you all in one place? Or do you use more direct tactics like bribery?! Maybe you cut off supply to the wifi or have made the lounge or kitchen an irresistably cosy place to congregate?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Put on a family movie on Sky, dig into the popcorn and fizzy drinks

jaibaby · 15/10/2015 13:47

We love our family nights in - we make homemade pizza and bake cakes and cookies and all settle down in front of a film. We normally end the night carrying our children up to bed because they've fallen asleep! We love it!

SIDNEY65 · 15/10/2015 13:56

We always have a nice homemade curry then a family game of monopoly which usually ends in a fight.

Saturday night is movie night in our house, we sent dad to the pub and me and my boys curl up with duvets and popcorn bliss.

slbhill42 · 15/10/2015 14:02

Start with an early dinner but save pudding for after some chat, a game or a film

I love family nights in. Only happens around 3 times a week because everyone off with clubs or friends etc or even work sometimes in the evenings. We are huge board game fans and even those aimed at our youngest children can be fun. We love to play pictionary because the whole family regardless of ages has so much fun. Its especially fun when the younger children have to draw and we have to figure out why the squiggly line with a star at the end is an elephant. Lots of fun, nibbles and hugs.

Saturday night is family night. We have pizza, share puns and sometime play charades followed by pudding in front of a film or a TV show.

Gilla01 · 15/10/2015 15:44

Pizza and a very long drawn-out game of Monopoly always goes down well.

LilQueenie · 15/10/2015 16:22

We enjoy a meal with a good movie. Usually a home cooked one though sometimes we enjoy a pizza takeaway. Currently our fav movies have been Hook and The Polar Express. Defintely bridging a generation gap there.

Pimmpom · 15/10/2015 17:45

Loving Saturday nights at the moment. We each take a turn in having our favourite meal and then snuggle down with some treats to watch Strictly Come Dancing. :)

katieskatie82 · 15/10/2015 18:04

we have family movie nights in. We take it in turns to choose a movie. We get the duvets down from the beds, get plenty of nibbles and drinks and enjoy a family movie together!

matphil · 15/10/2015 18:43

We all have our dinner together and sometimes go off and do our own things, but we always have a night or two as a family night.
We like to watch a movie with popcorn and sweets.

andreaca · 15/10/2015 19:11

Now that my children are getting older, its a bit of a bribe with a takeaway pizza, some choccy, some fizzy drinks, a good dvd and we all huddle together on the one couch after, its worth the bribe. x

baconbap · 15/10/2015 19:18

takeaway chinese and a film

worriedmum46 · 15/10/2015 19:25

We have a games night almost monthly. Our two grown up kids come home when they can which makes it more special for the young ones. Pictionary, Frustration or Connect 4 are the current favourite games.

kats56 · 15/10/2015 19:31

We have a movie night, pj's on, a nice meal and glass of wine and of course some nice cadbury's chocolate to follow!

soozybee1 · 15/10/2015 19:35

Cuddled up with a good movie and some popcorn

HelenSw4les · 15/10/2015 20:11

Movie night makes a fabulous night in. As a family we don't drink fizzy drinks but movie nights are the exception, as well as popcorn and chocolate, it's our once a month treat!

funkyfreks · 15/10/2015 20:50

We have a family of 5, Me hubby and 3 girls - Ages 5 / 6 / 13... we have a little fold out table in the living room which we pull out, dad and girls pick a film and I throw together some goodies, anything really cheese, crackers, nuts, crisps, chocolate, nibbles.
we put the goodies in on the table and all sit together to watch a film and munch.

FUZZ62 · 15/10/2015 20:58

My boys (aged 3,6 and 8) love snuggling with me and dad on the couch watching Dr Who...there always has to be popcorn involved tho or it's a no go!! The pic was a classic example of last week!

Our perfect night in is me and the kids in our pj's, pop corn and sweets, watching a film all cuddled together under a blanket.

dandanrawlings · 15/10/2015 21:43

Netflix and a family chill, with lots of snacks

Gill81uk · 15/10/2015 21:43

We have everyone's favourite meal - pizza! Followed by a pudding of something we all like, like chocolate cake, and sit together in the living room and watch a film that we all enjoy.

cluckyhen · 15/10/2015 21:46

Our nights in consist of arguments over the remote, what to eat and who sits where!
