Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables have asked us to find out how you get the whole family together for a cosy night in.

Here’s what they say, "New Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables are a fun way for all the family to get involved, so we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about how they encourage the whole family to enjoy a family night in."

So, what do you do to ensure your busy family spends time together? Do you make sure everyone's favourite meal - or dessert - is on the menu? Perhaps there's a TV show that's guaranteed to gather you all in one place? Or do you use more direct tactics like bribery?! Maybe you cut off supply to the wifi or have made the lounge or kitchen an irresistably cosy place to congregate?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

We have a movie night where we let our son choose a snack and a film, we get blankets and pillows and all snuggle up together

Similar to everyone else it seems, movie night, a furry throw, popcorn and some chocolate.

mishknight · 13/10/2015 11:44

sammylea80 · 13/10/2015 12:03

A sharing meal meal on the table, lots of treats and a great family movie

Sammyislost · 13/10/2015 13:08

We always pick a movie to watch, snuggle on the same sofa with blankets and loads of snacks!! No phones allowed!! It always works a treat (and means we get to have a well deserved rest!!!)

clarem100 · 13/10/2015 13:47

angiehoggett · 13/10/2015 14:35

we have a mobile phone and games console free friday night where we watch a film together or play a game

JoJoBaldwin · 13/10/2015 15:43

When dinner is finished and homework done our favourite thing is to get around the table for a game of UNO, or maybe Risk if it's the weekend. Really good fun and a great way of spending time together without screens getting in the way!

Movie night, pizza and coke, under the blanket on the sofa in our pyjamas!

maisiesnan · 13/10/2015 17:00

Movie night/ wet weekends we have a picnic in the living room followed by my granddaughter choosing a DVD to watch while we snuggle up on the sofa with chocolate and popcorn

Natasha7 · 13/10/2015 19:44

Make some popcorn, snacks and soft drinks, get comfortable on the sofa and watch a good film. Fab!

We like to have a family movie night once or twice a month. If funds stretch to it, we'll order pizza etc but if not, then we get popcorn, crisps, sweets etc and all sit down to watch a film together. We try to keep the film choice democratic: if there isn't something we all want to watch then we take it in turns to choose!

marrich · 13/10/2015 21:27

Movie night, sat on the sofa with a curry or stir fry.

gembie1986 · 13/10/2015 21:37

A family night in usually consists of dinner at the kitchen table, away from all forms of electronic devices.

My son can usually be persuaded from returning to his minecraft world with chocolate, the chance to beat me at cluedo or watch a transformers film or two.

lucjam2015 · 13/10/2015 21:40

Indian take away, drinks and rubbish TV!

buckley1983 · 13/10/2015 22:28

We too are snugglers! A nest is created on the sofa from as many duvets, pillows & cushions as we can muster & we all pile on - surround ourselves with treats & watch something family-friendly on the TV - it's usually Disney & either one or all of us will fall asleep!! :)

marshgirl · 13/10/2015 22:44

We always eat together at the table. Then once cleared up it is time to settle down in the living room. We watch the soaps, x factor, I'm a celebrity , strictly come dancing, friends . Or Disney films and Harry Potter films. All complimented with cups of tea and chocolate to share. When autumn / winter comes we shut the curtains and put the fire on, so cosy.

faybelle · 13/10/2015 23:30

family movie, pizza and popcorn

marsybum · 14/10/2015 05:02

Movie nights here, but we always watch the movies from our childhood! So our 12 year olds are very educated in 80's film - always with popcorn and fizzy drinks too!

libra101 · 14/10/2015 05:41

When there is a good programme on TV, we go out and pick up a takeaway, have a glass of wine, and snuggle up on sofa.

waterlily200 · 14/10/2015 09:37

We spend Saturday evenings together, nice tea then cuddle on the sofa with a movie and chocolate, usually a bar of dairy milk (mine nad my daughters favorite) or caramel (my husbands favorite).

sarah3875 · 14/10/2015 10:23

Cosy nights in our family are for the weekends when our boys can stay up later. It was lovely in the summer when they went outside with their Dad and played cricket until late! I got to chill. Now it's all about the telly. They love Strictly and X Factor. We've also got in to the habit of having a bit of a take away Saturday!

neddle · 14/10/2015 11:59

Pretty much film night for us too. With five kids from 14 to 1, it's hard to find things to do with all of them. We use the sofa and bean bags to fit them all in, turn the lights off and have popcorn.
