Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables have asked us to find out how you get the whole family together for a cosy night in.

Here’s what they say, "New Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables are a fun way for all the family to get involved, so we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about how they encourage the whole family to enjoy a family night in."

So, what do you do to ensure your busy family spends time together? Do you make sure everyone's favourite meal - or dessert - is on the menu? Perhaps there's a TV show that's guaranteed to gather you all in one place? Or do you use more direct tactics like bribery?! Maybe you cut off supply to the wifi or have made the lounge or kitchen an irresistably cosy place to congregate?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

we are making a thing of a family night after reliasing with different things we dont actually get together much . we usually all get in our pj's and everyone gets to take it in turn who picks the film, and there are plenty of chocolates and treats to be had x

Order in a takeaway meal and some snacks and have a movie or music night. Movie nights all comfied up on the sofa with a family film, or music nights where we sing and play instruments, with some favoutite songs and learn new ones.

keshimonster · 14/10/2015 13:56

Pyjamas on, Duvets down to the living room, cwtch up on the sofa with some chocolate or popcorn and watch a good old Disney Classic!

happysouls · 14/10/2015 14:06

Family nights are entertainment for everyone, either a film or board games that everyone will enjoy. Drinks and snacks, so treats for everyone whether thats favourite chocolate bars or a big bowl of popcorn. Snuggling, fun. Most importantly, everyone is joining in, no distractions! Phones and computer games banned!

MummyBtothree · 14/10/2015 15:59

Once a week, usually at a weekend we have 'treat night' when we get together on the sofa as a family, watch something good on tv and eat yummy things... funnily enough our usual favourite is chocolate

emily13 · 14/10/2015 16:01

Movie nights are always a winner in our house, especially if we treat ourselves to pizza

chrin · 14/10/2015 18:19

family nights in are either game nights ie. on XBox etc or a film night with sweets, popcorn and drinks

sunshinemeg · 14/10/2015 18:22

With a little one a night in happens after they are in bed. Best enjoyed with a nice take away, a good film to watch and no distractions, so iPad and phones away!

A favourite meal, good music and family favourite games eg. Cleudo

This thread makes me nostalgic for when my DS was younger - now a grumpy teenager Grin.

Family night usually involves a takeaway - then if we can agree on a film or catch up tv show we will all watch together - but we have the argument about whether the lights are on or off as I hate sitting in a dark/dim room. DH and I love board games and cards but hard to get DS involved now.

My best night is being in on my own Grin.

meggysar · 14/10/2015 18:50

We like to start with a good carpet picnic followed by a good movie and then possibly a board game of charades to finish the night off.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 14/10/2015 19:15

My DC are only 3 & 1 but we all love Strictly! So a fab night in for us is pj's on, Strictly on, some sweet treats, a big snuggly blanket & pile on the sofa!

princesssmitheee · 14/10/2015 20:06

watching saturday night tv with a takeaway together

maureen3733 · 14/10/2015 20:23

monopoly becomes a vital part of the night.

Dessallara · 14/10/2015 20:43

Good family film and chocolate! What can be better? :) x

mumpetuk1 · 14/10/2015 21:27

We have family night and watch Disney Dvd's

Heartbroken1985 · 14/10/2015 21:46

My ideal family night in consists of a naughty takeaway, followed by a Nerf gun fight then chill out on the sofa for a film and snuggles. Just me and my amazing boys! Smile

Cocacolaandchocolate · 14/10/2015 22:39

Weekend night for us. Snacks. Normally Bourbon biscuits and tv, or books on the sofa. We all stop and come together. Then when the 3 and nearly 2 year old are asleep. We play a board game with our 11 year old or a family game on the wii u.

aussiegeckogirl · 14/10/2015 22:50

bottle of wine for me and hubby, lots of popcorn, crisps, chocolate and sweets for the us and the kids with a couple of films

xemmax121 · 14/10/2015 22:54

We have a family night in every Friday. We call it 'movie night' and just rent a film to watch together :)

goose1964 · 15/10/2015 07:43

a good board game, not that we have family nights in very often

Kangakate · 15/10/2015 09:02

Our family nights in start with a dog walk whilst a pasta bake is in the oven, when we get home we have dinner on the couch as a treat whilst watching a movie together. We then have some ice-cream and play a family game.

bellaboo194 · 15/10/2015 09:21

We order pizza and put a film on or x factor and eat our body weight in junk food, we sometimes play board games also.

chocorabbit · 15/10/2015 11:54

Well, having their favourite dinner, always something with meat would be enough to bring them all together! Especially with some cartoons or children's movie on the TV.

glmcall123 · 15/10/2015 12:57

We all get together for movie night on Friday. The kids take turns choosing a film so there are no arguments and there's always plenty of popcorn!
