In association with Mini Milk, we've developed a Summer Fun Generator to give you some inspiration for activities to do with your DCs over the summer holidays. Mini Milk would love for you to give it a try, and let us know what you think of the activities.

Mini Milk say "As we head towards the end of the summer holidays, maybe you're struggling to find fun activities to keep your DCs entertained. Try our Summer Fun Generator for some inspiration, and let us know what you think of the activities."

Head to www.mumsnet.com/fun-generator to give it a try

So, what did you think of the activities on the Summer Fun Generator? Did you choose rainy or sunny day activities? Which of the generated activities looks like the most fun? Are you going to try out any of the activities with your DCs? If so, which ones?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I never have a problem with ideas for good days but for the rain - all ideas welcome. They don't even have to be spectacularly original - just a memory jog sometimes is all that's needed.

cuppawithbiccies · 03/09/2015 19:08

some good new ideas here, although some of the durations are a bit wishful thinking. eg painting the house with water is not going to last an hour here - 10 minutes maybe if I'm lucky

hannonle · 03/09/2015 19:08

hmm Nothing stands out as a new idea except the water wall bit but it's much easier to fill up a few squirty bottles and decorate the path with them.

cheryl100 · 03/09/2015 19:11

Love this idea! I always like to plan in advance what we are doing and this will allow me to plan for both rainy and sunny days!

lynsmagoo · 03/09/2015 19:14

I like the idea but maybe have more of them that are shorter! You could put in different activities for different age groups :)

alsproject · 03/09/2015 19:26

It gives interesting things to do but the suggestions aren't always practical to do

Kangakate · 03/09/2015 19:41

I actually quiet licked it, yes some of the suggestions were basic, but it's sometimes those ones that we forget and instead spend money trying to entertain them. the kids had great fun, picking the activities they wanted to do, if we planned in advance then it was their treat for being well behaved

freefan · 03/09/2015 19:42

Some fantastic ideas, wish I had found this sooner as our schools are already back, but i'm definitely keeping these in mind for October Holidays for keeping the teenies busy

juju3 · 03/09/2015 20:07

fun informative and useful

nigelh66 · 03/09/2015 20:51

Think it is useful to get ideas at short notice :)

stefalfie11 · 03/09/2015 20:57

I think the ideas are simple but that definitely isnt a bad thing - i thought that the colour walk is a brilliant idea to get kids involved too.

kimbers85 · 03/09/2015 21:10

i like that there was as much to do on a rainy day as there was on a sunny day x

selloveday · 03/09/2015 21:10

I think it's a great idea and comes up with some good suggestions. We particularly need the rainy day one at the moment!

sez101 · 03/09/2015 21:15

Clever and inventive, think there should be more choice options taking in age of the children or amount of kids

gamerwidow · 03/09/2015 21:19

Nice clear instructions and easy to achieve most of the activities with little or no cost. I liked it.

phillie1 · 03/09/2015 21:29

Rainy - all the usual stuff here

taz10 · 03/09/2015 21:36

Loved the lotto game can see us having loads of fun

Gill81uk · 03/09/2015 21:39

It's great, very user friendly and visual so the kids can get involved too. We have downloaded the app ready to start geocaching!

arabella505 · 03/09/2015 21:55

I had a look at the rainy activities (because its ALWAYS rainy where we live) and also that's when its hardest to entertain little ones. I really liked how simple the suggests were, they didn't require anything expensive or unusual. I can't wait to try the raisins in water idea.

grannybiker · 03/09/2015 22:09

Wish I'd found this thread earlier :/

AnneBoleyn22 · 03/09/2015 22:17

Nice suggestions

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 03/09/2015 22:19

Some good ideas there, had a look at both Sunny & Rainy for some tips and especially like Send A Postcard & Pavement Artists! Brilliant for when youve run out of ideas, we will be trying the above two and more! xx

aussiegeckogirl · 03/09/2015 22:23

a good mix of ideas, I will have to try it out when my grandchildren come to stay next weekend

Cailin7 · 03/09/2015 22:34

I had a look, it looks really good. Lots of great ideas which do not costs too much.

seeingdouble2 · 03/09/2015 23:07
