Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

I think my son would really love this, he is into the past Peter Pan based films (cartoons and Hook) and he loves pirates, allthough he is only turning 6 this year and I am not sure if it wouldn't scare him. I like watching films before my kids so I get an idea if they would enjoy them and if they could handle scary/action scenes. We are not fans of 3D movies, I get a headache and the kids don't want to be watching through their glasses for the entire length of a film. Maybe that gets better for older kids. Overall I think the film looks very well done, great effects!

Another take on the classic story by J. M. Barrie. While the purists will once again ask why the original cannot be left alone, remakes are more prevalent in Hollywood than ever before, and it was only a matter of time until they went back to the story of Peter Pan (even though Disney is continuing to play in this world, i.e. the Tinkerbell movies, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, etc.).

CGI was made for movies like these, and it has been used to great effect here. It will also look awesome in 3D, I'm sure. The film boasts top actors, and is produced by the talented Greg Berlanti (who bought the popular DC Comics' 'Arrow' and 'The Flash' to television). No doubt about it, a classic family adventure in the making, the trailer is exciting and clearly appealing to youngsters, especially the flying sequences.

Remade for a new generation. Smile

There have been so many Peter Pan films, that I found it a bit difficult to get excited about another one, but for the generation that won't necessarily remember all the others, it could have more appeal. I am not sure what age would be appropriate, it seems quite dark and I'm not sure it's got enough colour and pace for my nine year old, who is used to cartoony films such as minions and Big Hero 6. An older child, maybe? It is nice to see action-adventure films that can appeal equally to boys and girls.

Springhasspung · 28/07/2015 11:44

Looks fab, my 6 yr old is now pestering to see it.
Love the bit with the crocodile leaping out the water, the special effects look great combined with an awesome soundtrack it'll be one to see on the big screen

SuzfromSoton · 28/07/2015 11:46

New twist on a classic tale. Looks pretty good to me, lots of adventure and special effects for the kids. Anything with Hugh Jackman in is bound to be a winner as well!

emily13 · 28/07/2015 12:33

I think it looks like just our sort of thing. A twist on a familiar tale, with a dark aspect to it - looks great :)

sadiewoohoo · 28/07/2015 12:48

Ooh it looks deliciously dark - right up my street :)

K1ttenpie · 28/07/2015 13:22

I have to say it isn't making me want to go see it. In fact both me and my husband groaned when we saw the trailer. It just feels done.

oliveoyl72 · 28/07/2015 16:14

I watched the trailer on full-screen and the visual effects are fantastic, I can well imagine that on the big screens of the cinema it would be a completely immersive experience, especially in 3D. I think this film would appeal to most ages, apart from littlies, maybe around ages 8 and up. Although bits of it seem a little dark, I don't think it looks that scary really, just enough to make you jump, but not to properly frighten. I've been pleasantly surprised by most of the recent remakes of old films and stories, and imagine this will succeed expectations too.

abby12321 · 28/07/2015 16:17

I think this looks interesting. The prequel to peter pan. I hope it shows how the lost boys stay forever young. It looks like it would appeal to both boys and girls and parents too

Bellroyd · 28/07/2015 16:27

Personally it's not for me. I would rather my family watched films that were less fantastic and more realistic.

purplepandas · 28/07/2015 20:51

I agree that it is too dark and scary for DC. I like it but my DC (age 5 and 3) would not at all. It would freak them out and put them off the cinema for a while. It depends on the DC as I appreciate that mine are particularly sensitive though.

MrRichTea · 28/07/2015 22:52

Looks ace, great twist on a classic tale! :)

brookson · 29/07/2015 00:49

looks like a magical adventure, just up my families street. We will be looking forward to it

BizziLiz · 29/07/2015 10:12

I'd definitely be interested in going to see this - the special effects look great and I'm interested in the concept of a prequel. (It took me ages to recognise Hugh Jackman!)

castleton · 29/07/2015 11:42

Cracking adventure. Would come across well on the big screen at the Cinema. My grandchildren would enjoy it

mummyto2boys01 · 29/07/2015 13:11

Too dark and complex for my boys I think

Dessallara · 29/07/2015 13:38

Would love to see it in cinema, looks like a great film :)

JaniceJoplin · 29/07/2015 13:57

I saw this trailer at the cinema when we watched Minions. I was there with a nearly 5 year old and a 2 year old. Sadly both were quite terrified by the trailer so we wont be seeing it. Having recently seen Cinderella which was fabulous and quite a grown up movie with great acting and story and absolutely loved by my 4 year old, I had thought this may be similar, but it just looked too scary for her.

andy07 · 29/07/2015 13:59

I love it when they make new versions of classics, some turn out rubbish but others are brilliant and this look like it will be amazing. I can imagine my children really enjoying this. It like maleficent, a different take on sleeping beauty and this was a great hit so because of the graphics they have now I reckon this will be a great watch

keshimonster · 29/07/2015 15:51

In my mind you can't beat "Hook" for a family Peter Pan movie, its a wonderful light hearted and fun movie, a classic.

I will watch the new "Pan" but I feel it looks quite dark and will not be as uplifting for the whole family.

sarah3875 · 29/07/2015 16:13

I cannot wait to see this. Its the first time i've seen the release date too, have just seen Oct previously. I'm due on the 26th so can't wait to take my boys before I drop!

Hook is fab but this looks completely different and we will love the 3D! Countdown to this or the baby?!!

funkyfish586 · 29/07/2015 16:27

It looks ok but no where near like the magical story of the original. Seems a shame to change it so much

jaibaby · 29/07/2015 16:53

We first seen this trailer at the cinema and have been excited for it's release ever since! My son, 6 years, is especially excited. He loves the classic Peter Pan story and has a new-found love of Hook. However, I'm slightly cautious over whether it would be suitable for him so will probably watch it before he does.

As for watching in 3D - absolutely! It makes the whole experience much better! 3D makes you feel as though you're there, in the moment, with the actors and within the storyline, yet safe behind the screen. We, as a family, love it and try to watch every movie in 3D!

colouringinagain · 29/07/2015 17:33

Visually it looks amazing! I like the prequel concept - not just a new version. .. looks pretty exciting so prob a bit too scary fit my dd but think ds might like it. Def one to see on the big screen by the look of it!
