Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Visually it looked stunning, quite excited to see it and I'm sure I will.

It does however look very tame. Like the studio has picked out all of the "best bits" and the rest of the film is just bridges in between another bold and colourful scene or a dramatic one.

It also looks like you have desperately crowbar'd in a twist on the classic story. I'm sure it's similar enough.

I've read lots of interesting lore on Peter Pan recently via Reddit or Tumblr - I think the film looks like it's set for too young an age group to explore some of the darker themes and therefore, not really a "twist" just a different angle to what has been shown before.

There was so much in the trailer of 'showing things to Peter Pan' I get the impression that the actual Peter Pan character has come across a bit dull.

Where is his boldness? Surely that is the original attraction of Peter Pan? The stubborn boy who wont grow up?

This looks amazing with fantastic special effects. I will defo go and see this with my son (I am pretty sure the hubby will like it too!). I will choose to watch this in 3D - the scene where the crocodile jumps will be epic!

buckley1983 · 21/07/2015 22:56

This looks brilliant.. can't wait until my little one is old enough to enjoy films like this at the cinema!! I loved fantasy films when I was growing up & hope that he will too. A new spin on a classic story is always welcome & the special effects looks incredible.. that crocodile - argh!! Hugh Jackman is unrecognisable as Blackbeard & a bit terrifying! Maybe a few years before LO will watch this but I will certainly be watching it.. just need to sort a babysitter now! :)

pusinky · 22/07/2015 00:30

It looks quite dark - could be ok

JazzAnnNonMouse · 22/07/2015 08:33

It looks like film I would like -loving the trend at the moment to add prequels to well known stories instead of remakes.

My kids are probably too young for it perhaps in a year or 2 they would love it.

If my kids were older I would go and see it with them at kids am (cheaper viewing a while after it's been out) unless it's a special treat. I would then be willing to pay the extra (so much more!!)

janiegd · 22/07/2015 15:15

I'm a huge Disney fan & I can't wait to see yet another live action film version of this beloved story.

Cerealchanger · 22/07/2015 16:27

I think it looks amazing.

I'd love to see it in 3d. I love the whole idea of explaining where Peter Pan comes from. The special effects look great. It looks a little dark for my 4 and 6 year old so I'd wait til they were a bit older but it's definitely something I'd watch myself. It looks like there are some jokes in there!

zippyants · 22/07/2015 20:12

Looks like fun for the right person but not for me. I'm getting more into the real life type of films again rather than ones that use lots of special effects - films just don't seem 'real' anymore (or lots of them anyway).

andywedge · 22/07/2015 20:24

Bad move - both son and daughter want to watch it NOW.
That's a trip to the cinema planned then when it's released.

goodomens830 · 22/07/2015 20:59

It looks amazing! A great mixture of excitement, mystery and magic. I would watch this with or without my children lol! Special effects look fantastic too. I'm looking forward to this coming out!

Larnipoo · 22/07/2015 21:27

Didn't recognise Hugh Jackman. We are regular cinema goers and my son is super excited about see Pan. He's loves anything pirate themed. Our son is 7 years old.

jo4chelsea · 22/07/2015 21:37

I am really excited about this film. I love peter pan stories as a whole and this looks set to be a good film. I love how it will tell more of the actual story about peter not just his life in never land and the way that it appears to be a bit more grown up it doesn't look so dark that my 9 y/o couldn't watch it as she loves hook and neverland. I personally wouldn't watch it in 3d, i find cartoons are great in 3d but actual films don't always make the cut for me. Saying this i will definitely be watching later this year!

farhanac · 22/07/2015 23:58

Looks like a really fun re-imagining of one of my favourite tales.

RhinosAreFatUnicorns · 23/07/2015 07:03

It looks good! If I were to watch it would definitely go to see it in 3D as I think the effects will be pretty special. The crocodile looked amazing - even when watching the trailer on the phone.
However I think it's a bit too dark for my 4 year old - my nephews however at 7 and 9 would love it. And I would watch it in 3D on the TV when it came out.

mamato3luvleys · 23/07/2015 10:53

This looks really good I watched the trailer with my ds who's 11 and ds who's 9 and it's now on their list of wants from the cinema!
It's a dark film with parts that will look great in 3d I wouldn't say any of the trailer was my favourite part my dp hopes the trailer hasn't shown all the good bits as this he says is usually the case!
I'll look forward to going to see this when its out Smile

JoCar72 · 23/07/2015 12:29

Looks like a fabulous re-imagining of the Peter Pan story. I'm glad it's been updated and made relevant to todays world rather than the staid Victorian one it was originally based around. The C.G.I special effects make it incredible to watch and will surely delight parent and child in equal measure?

LowCarbHeaven · 23/07/2015 13:15

It looks really good! I think it's good it's a different plot, rather than just covering the old movie. I wouldn't watch it with my little one in 3D as he won't tolerate keeping the glasses on so hope it is just as good in 2D.

scabbycat · 23/07/2015 18:40

Some parts look a bit scary for littler or more sensitive ones so I'd likely only take older children. Looks fun and has a magical feel for those a bit more grown up though. We'd be unlikely to see it in 3D as we've been disappointed by some films where the 3D has been an afterthought or it just has one or two 3D effects.

CrumblyMumbly · 23/07/2015 20:09

It was a very long trailer and a bit wordy so my 4 year old lost interest, but she is a bit young for this. We loved the huuuuge crocodile though and the flying ships. Villain didn't seem that scary (maybe because I fancy him a bit!). I would like to go and see it but 3d makes me feel nauseous so just regular for me please.

sleek12 · 23/07/2015 22:28

I love Hugh jackman, going to watch this for sure with the kids. trailer looks amazing with exciting scenes like when peter pan was in the boat. love all the different colours in the trailer. bring it on!

SLINKYDREAMER · 23/07/2015 23:21

Looks great - I want to watch it! Really like the theme and positive messages, loved the ship sailing into the clouds.

Heels99 · 24/07/2015 12:14

Definitely taking dds aged 7 to this we saw the trailer at the cinema and all said we want to see that! It looks like it sticks close enough to the original story to meet dc expectations but with some twists and some new characters. It looked more adventurous and a bit darker than previous versions of the story. Funnily enough we just watched the 2003 peter pan yesterda and I think the new one has the advanta re special effects and a slightly different story.
Wouldn't watch 3d as not sure dc would want to keep glasses on for whole film, we have never seen a 3d film with the children
Favourit part of the trailer love the flying ships and the crocodile. Characters like the fact there is a kick ass girl rather than just tinker bell and wendy as female characters and the different take on hook. Are the darling children in the film I couldn't tell, if not its no loss!
The peter pan disney animation was the 2nd film I ever saw as a child and I am looking forward to seeing Pan reinvented with my own children.
Great trailer!

AngelBlue12 · 24/07/2015 12:49

I think that it looks really good. My four older DD's all want to see it they are 11,8,6 and 3. We would see it in 2D because I have an eye problem that means 3D doesn't work and I end up with a massive headache!

I love the idea that it's how Peter gets to Neverland to begin with.

We tend not to go to the cinema very much as it is so expensive for large families but I might make an exception for this - right up my street :D

Sc107 · 24/07/2015 15:12

First impression is that it looks good. Decent special effects and interesting storyline. One to watch out for!

WowOoo · 24/07/2015 15:40

It looks good - excellent special effects. I think this is the kind of thing my son would like to see on the big screen.
