Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Looks like one that my other half and me might watch on DVD (although it would look better in the cinema). It's be interesting to see the new take on it. The characters look interesting and there are a few in the trailer that look new to the story. It looks too dark for my LO, more fore the over 8s. I wouldn't bother seeing it in 3d as it gives me a headache.

stance · 24/07/2015 17:56

Goodness! It does look very exciting, and I can imagine we'd all be shrinking in our seats for some of the scenes if we watched it in 3-D. The special effects are pretty serious, as we'd expect from the HP studios. I like the psychological underpinning, the premise of the film, about friends and enemies switching, but I couldn't tell from the trailer how that plays out. It does look in danger of tipping over to puerility at times, but I think the kids will like that. I'm very taken with the fairy's(?) headdress!

Definitely one to watch on the big screen. The kids can come if they like.

cooljammer37 · 24/07/2015 21:08

Wow it looks fab! The special effects are amazing and would love to see them in 3D. DD and myself seen a trailer at cinema for this and were already interested but we will definitely be going to see this. It's like a modern day Hook (my favourite film) and I think Pan could be in the running to become an all time fave!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/07/2015 21:54

I've been waiting to see this film for ages, ever since I saw a clip on you tube, the trailer is great and I like the fact it's not just another film of Peter pan but has a twist, also helps that my future husband Hugh Jackman is in it ????????

chairmeoh · 25/07/2015 09:09

I'm very excited to see this, and might drag my DD(7) along too. She might be a bit scared of some of it, but overall I think she will enjoy it.
I'll probably go see it in 2D because I'm a bit meh about 3D and the glasses annoy me.
I love the interaction between Peter and the fairy. And the friends/enemies switcheroo will keep DD guessing.
Special effects look amazing, this looks a real quality film, I hope the storyline lives up to it.

hbakfam · 25/07/2015 11:34

Looks like they've tried to make it darker, so probably better for older children than younger ones

Navyblue12 · 25/07/2015 12:50

Looks bit too scary for DD age 4 but I think I'd enjoy watching it.

I can't believe how much the special effects have come on since movies from my own childhood.

serendipity1980 · 25/07/2015 13:36

The trailer looks really good, rather different from the Hook film which my children love. We wouldn't see it in 3D - it gives me a headache. We would wait for the cheap children viewing or buy on DVD. Looks like good entertainment with great graphics and like the fact it was made by the people who made Harry Potter.

sweetsomethings · 25/07/2015 16:43

i think it looks great for all the family to enjoy

heyday · 26/07/2015 02:54

Looks an extremely lavish adventure story aimed at slightly older children. I agree with others that this is probably best seen in 3D to get the most out of the superb special effects. I think this film could appeal to both children and adults which means mums and dads might just stay awake when taking their DC to the cinema to watch it. It could be a winner, depends on how much hype it gets before release date.

skapur · 26/07/2015 07:16

This movie looks awesome. My kids have seen the trailers a few times and are already bugging me to see it. Seems like it is going to be a box office smash!

margaritasbythesea · 26/07/2015 16:45

We watched the trailer in a cinema the other day. My children love Peter Pan to buts but they did not like this. The colours were too dark, the music was too booming, the aesthetic was ugly and they found lots of it, like the bit when Peter us snatched, plain frightening. We won't be going.

BuffaloCustardbath · 26/07/2015 17:38

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

I enjoyed the trailer, it looks like an interesting alternative view on a story which has been done over and over again - it looks big budget and impressive from the trailer. I liked the beautiful landscape shots, the snatches of colour within an otherwise pretty 'dark' trailer and the scenes with the flying ships. It's one I'd like to see at the local drive in cinema with DH so we can bring the baby along too.

thatstoast · 26/07/2015 17:46

I like the peter pan story and another twist on it could be nice.

Anerak · 26/07/2015 18:49

Looks like a feast for the imagination - classic adventure tale narrative with lots of mystical make-believe elements. Lovely mix of scenes with colours and textures: the flying ship travelling through the bubbles is visually stimulating for young, creative minds. Just the right touch of reality to make it accessible despite it being about humans flying and mermaids and magical crocodile infested rivers/lakes

missorinoco · 26/07/2015 19:25

This looked like a watchable twist on the original - I hate to get my hopes up as sometimes all the good lines are in the trailer.

I agree it looks dark for little ones. I wouldn't have thought of watching it in 3D, but DS's first comment after watching the trailer was, "Can we see it in 3D?" His favourite part was, "This isn't so difficult to fly....."

Charliebobz · 26/07/2015 21:20

Heavily reliant on CGI. Strikes me as the usual multiplex fodder, big on digital effects and maybe missing the point that the main ingredient in film making is FILM. Seems to be quite dark and lacking the charm of previous Peter Pan movies. My 5 year old, though he loves Pirates would find this scary. I'll probably watch it when it comes on telly.

israrbaig · 27/07/2015 08:45

I really liked the trailer story line looks good but was most impressed by the use of colours of the island folk and the use of CGI.

Acting was also very good with the music adding to the tension. Be interesting to see how the clips in the trailer work in the film, as most trailars LOOK amazing but in the film was let down.

Kangakate · 27/07/2015 09:34

This looks like a great movie to see with the kids, I even think that my husband would come to see it as well, with the action fight scenes and the crocodile bursting out of the water. Looks amazing

FrenchieMum2Be · 27/07/2015 13:45

It's a very good trailer with action packed scenes that will keep my husband watching... We'll wait till the DVD as our daughter is a bit young but I really like the concept of this prequel.

mynellie · 27/07/2015 14:05

Just when you think that this story has been done enough times there comes along a trailer that totally blows away that idea and your socks and makes you want to re-live Peter Pans life all over again
Although this is not a film for younger children it is certainly one for the older child and any adult that wants to be entertained with thrills and action and a fast paced film
Upto now i had not seen this film trailer but after watching it is certainly a film i will be watching with my family

LizzieMMM · 27/07/2015 15:56

Love the prequel idea and the visuals look stunning. I like the fact that it's not so manic as some films for chioldren seem to be. I liked it

fazkin · 27/07/2015 17:45

It looks like a fun 3D watch. My daughter loves knowing more about Peter Pan so the twist to the story intrigues her. It's something we would watch

dirtypop · 27/07/2015 19:35

looks ok, nothing amazing though

grannybiker · 27/07/2015 21:24

8 year old would love it, but 4 year old would be too scared!
