Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Looks fun and exciting! My DS is very sensitive though and i think this would be too scary for him (he's 4).

I always thought Tigerlilly was a native american type princess - there doesn't seem to be much (any?) ethnic variety in the characters here, which is a shame.

I find 3d a bit gimicky, I'd rather just see a good 2d film.

I love the peter pan story though, it's always been one of my favourites, so i would look out for this film for myself.

hermancakedestroyer · 19/07/2015 19:59

This looks great. The scenery looks amazing and the special effects also look so realistic. The floating boats looked good and the crocodile looked menacing.
My ds and I thought this trailer looked exciting and certainly something that we would like to see at the cinema in 3d. My ds like the voice-over and the tension that that bought and the crocodile's appearance.
I liked the ticking at the start of the trailer and the mermaids the best but it all looked appealing to me and a film I'd like to watch.

rommer · 19/07/2015 20:19

I think this look like a fun take on Peter Pan. I always like to see a prequel and find out more about the characters.

pinklady123456 · 19/07/2015 21:40

I'm quite looking forward to seeing it but my daughter at 2.5 will be too young. It also looks like it may be a bit scary. Not sure if I would see it in 3D though, find it a bit of a gimick.

samosh22 · 19/07/2015 22:03

Interesting for kids

shoebedo434 · 19/07/2015 22:42

it looks very different to the original Peter Pan story. generally I'm not a fan of preguels although I wouldn't mind watching this. it is a shock to see Hugh Jackman looking so unattractive!. the graphics look good. I think my son is too young watch at the moment (he is 3 and a half) but he will probably enjoy it when he is older

stefalfie11 · 19/07/2015 22:55

I have to say that i'm not really into fantasy so its not really something which captures my attention but I can see how good the special effects are!

nikkijp83 · 19/07/2015 23:00

This looks ace! My DS is 6 and it would really hold his attention and a good film to be able to take him to see. I think our DD would be a little too young as she is just 3 and wouldn't understand what was happening.
I think it is a great idea that this film will be released in October.... Something different and something to look forward too!.
The special effects look great! So I would consider taking my DS to watch this in 3D... The last time we took him to watch a film in 3D was last year and a little too young, but think he ell be ready for it this year :-) xxx

lorka · 20/07/2015 01:24

Looks great - my daughter can't wait to watch this. We love the cinema. :)

Pixi2 · 20/07/2015 07:51

We've been waiting AAAGES for this to be released. It was originally marketed as summer 2015. Ds turns 6 this summer and he loves the 90's Peter Pan film. He cannot wait to see it.

moominnewbie · 20/07/2015 09:20

This looks exciting - a really imaginative view of the Peter Pan story. I will go and see this but my children are too young to watch it as I think they'd be frightened by some aspects of the film. I'm intrigued by James Hook being friends with Peter, and I like the look of Blackbeard.
I don't like watching 3D films - possibly because I wear glasses and I find the 3D frames irritating and uncomfortable to wear with my glasses (I don't like watching films whilst wearing contact lenses).
I will let my children see the film when I think they can cope with it but it will probably be DVD at home - we will keep it for a special occasion such as a bank holiday or christmas.
The animation involving the flying pirate ships looks great - my favourite bit on the trailer, but I expect I'll prefer other stuff when I watch the film.

MillyVanilli222 · 20/07/2015 11:00

It looks really exciting - we don't go to the cinema often as it's expensive, but the effects look great and if I do decide to go, will likely splash out for 3D as a rare treat.

iwantavuvezela · 20/07/2015 11:45

This looks like something my DD would love. She is 8 and I am imagining it is for that age and upwards. She would have found this "scary" when she was 5 even 6. It seems to have the right mix of story, action and fantasy that would keepher engaged. She is not a fan od 3D so we would watch it in 2D.

MrsFitzherbertsGoat · 20/07/2015 12:24

Looks really good. Will definitely take 7 year old, not younger ones. Will go for the 2d.

Cinema is too expensive, so we only go for real 'event' films; everything else we watch at the cheap Kids Club showings or wait for Netflix. This definitely looks to be an 'event' film.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 20/07/2015 13:13

I had already seen the trailer in the cinema, both myself and DD will be going to see it.

(It is an expense that we can ill afford but the weather has been poor and it would be a good treat.)

She is mad for all things Peter Pan and enjoys slightly scary adventure stories. She is 5 (nearly 6) but enjoys adventure stories and slightly scary films (Goonies, Jumanji etc) so I think this will be a good fit for her.

We'll probably go see the 2d as it's less expensive, less of a faff and DD not really fussed by 3d things as yet.

shroney · 20/07/2015 16:54

I think my two will really like it, brilliant special effects and they love harry potter so I'm sure it will go down well with them.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 20/07/2015 22:02

I saw the trailer for this at the cinema, I love the look of it. seems like a great take on the classic story with appeal for older children and adults. im really loving the back story films being released lately.

Unfortunately my daughters (6 & 3) are probably a bit young to understand and may be a bit too scary for them. I will be going to see it hopefully but not in 3d as it gives me headaches!

purplevamp · 20/07/2015 22:35

Looks good, but do we really need another Peter Pan film? Having said that if my children wanted to see it at the cinema I'd probably take them.

melmoo · 21/07/2015 00:39

My 11 year old son would love it - so long as there arn't any genuinely scarey bits. In fact it looks right up his street, so one of us will probably take him over summer at a point when his sister is doing something else. I think changing the story line is good as he'll know the original. The cinematic visuals will make it more of a cinema visit movie so we'll pay the money and see it there. We're probably not bothered about 3D though.

worldgonecrazy · 21/07/2015 08:50

My daughter will love it, when she's old enough to watch it. At 5, she is still a little young and I imagine would spend a lot of time hiding behind her fingers. The film looks enjoyable enough though.

Stoodles · 21/07/2015 09:56

I'm not sure my grandsons are old enough, but like many other "childrens" films, we might be going to see this ourselves

badgermum · 21/07/2015 09:58

Everyone knows the usual Peter Pan Story so this is exciting and new, my son aged 9 would really like this with the special effects and the drama, the flying ship battle is the best part of the trailer in my opinion but my son would probably choose the crocodile as his favourite part. Definately one to go and see in the school holidays Methinks!

flamingtoaster · 21/07/2015 10:25

Seems very dark - though may be better on the big screen. I loved the flying ships. Despite the great special effects I wouldn't want to see it in 3D as I find it uncomfortable. I'm not sure we need a prequel to Peter Pan and I think it would only be suitable for older children as it does come across as quite scary

AvaAmulet · 21/07/2015 11:03

DD, 2, loves films and her current fave is Ghostbusters Shock Blush but I don't think she'd like Pan, not at this age anyway, she'd rather watch Hook Wink

Moodykat · 21/07/2015 13:37

I love the look of it but think I'll be watching it alone as DH disagrees and the children are too young!
