Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

I'm not sure I'd go to the cinema for this but I like the idea of reworking the usual Disney version and drawing out some of the darker elements of the original.

The trailer is attractivethe visuals looks greatalthough I sometimes avoid films that overdo the volume.

Twine88 · 18/07/2015 10:56

With Joe Wright as director I would have reasonably high expectations of this films, his films are usually very beautiful and really capture the imagination - the trailer certainly reinforces this. It looks visually stunning, but I do wonder how dark it will be in total. My children are under 5, so are too young at the moment... that said, my nearly five year old came over and had a look while I watched and he was very interested in the crocodile - not much interest in everything else, but the trailer was quite fast moving, so it would probably take a few views to get him interested in other elements - the crocodile is a thumbs up though! We will at some point be exploring the world of Pan through books etc and the various films will be explored as well. Once I have seen the complete film I will decide at what age its suitable for my kids - although I echo others thoughts on 3d - find it really tiresome when its bolted on just for the sake of it.

First of all this film was made to be in 3D. My grandson who is 6 has watched numerous films in 3D and would love this one too. Levi Miller takes on the persona of Peter Pan as if he were he, and plays the part brilliantly. Every close up move in the trailer the expressions on his face made you feel as if you where there with him. Garreth Hedlund (Hook) and Hugh Jackman (Blackbeard) play as my grandson calls them.... The nasty men very well as you would expect from two accomplished actors.
The trailer shows what exciting thrills are in store throughout the film not just at the end as with so many blockbusters. It's made for adults aswell as children to keep our attention which came across. The only negative I found was that it was a little to dark to see what was going on in parts which was very annoying for me.
All in all a brilliant film I, my grandson and friends will definitely go to see if it's anything like the trailer suggests.

I always struggle to watch 3D films, I find they give me a headache and make my eyes feel funny for hours afterwards!

The film looks very exciting and quite different from other Peter Pan films, so it will be interesting to see a new version of the story. Hopefully it will be a great afternoon out for the family.

nippey · 18/07/2015 13:39

Looks great, have been waiting for ages for this

rachelmi · 18/07/2015 15:48

Looks great but not keen on 3D

Emiliasmumtobe · 18/07/2015 16:34

Film looks great but trailer is way too long. I hate it when trailers give too much away. I also think the teaser trailer, which I saw months ago and was shorter and minus the narration, was better and more intriguing. I want a trailer that intrigues me, not gives away a load of action scenes. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the film. Love a bit of Jackman!

clarem100 · 18/07/2015 19:03

it looks good but not really my kind of film

phillie1 · 18/07/2015 21:14

Cinemas too expensive to visit apart from once or twice a year, and this doesn't look good enough to waste one of those visits on

Tkw2014 · 18/07/2015 22:03

Looked really appealing from the trailer. Good that it is a different story as creates some unknown elements but everyone who knows the original story will be able to connect to it.

Hopezibah · 18/07/2015 22:40

So what did you think of the trailer?

at first I thought 'oh no not another peter pan film variation' - but actually found the trailer very different and very gripping!

What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs?

The characters don't seem all twee and cute but really bold and gutsy so this is like a real action and adventure film which we all love.

Would you see it in 3D?

I personally struggle with 3D films (makes me queasy ) but for those who like them then I think the flying scenes will be awesome in 3D.

Which part of the trailer did you like the most? That huge crocodile!

Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?
Would most definitely like to see it.

beckyinman · 18/07/2015 23:29

Hugh Jackman looks terrifying!

bex552 · 19/07/2015 07:31

This looks great, definitely one that needs to be watched in a cinema to get the full visual and sound effects. Interested to see the before story of Peter Pan

tompob · 19/07/2015 08:57

DC 8 /5 looks awesome another variant on the original but keeping the storyline balanced, great effects make it a jaw dropping spectacular, that my kids will love, the effects and animation will make it in my opinion as popular as malificent

pockledigg · 19/07/2015 09:34

Great effects, not too scary. Perhaps a little 'samey' though-same type of music, same type of child lead acor, same 'feel' as a lot of other kids' films. Sorry to be so vague.

Roobix04 · 19/07/2015 09:37

Looks interesting. I like the idea of an origin story that we don't usually get to see. It looks visually stunning and I love 3D so I'll definitely be seeing it in the cinema.

Marg2k8 · 19/07/2015 09:57

It looks alright, but I cannot say 'amazing'. With the cost of cinema tickets now, I wouldn't be rushing out to see it straight away.

CitronVert · 19/07/2015 10:06

It looks really exciting. Just the sort of thing my dcs (13 and 11) would like. It looks as if it will be a bit more suited to slightly older kids (7+) as it's got a similar feel to the later Harry Potter films, Percy Jackson, Pirates of the Caribbean etc. I think it might be a bit scary for very young ones.

Visually it looks stunning, but like many others we never bother with 3d as it doesn't seem to add much for the extra cost. We'll probably go to the cinema to see it when it comes out rather than waiting for it to come on the TV as I think it will lose a lot of impact on the small screen. It might be good to see it on an imax screen though.

goose1964 · 19/07/2015 10:41

this looks a prequel to Peter Pan - great special effects and some strong female characters which makes a change from the earlier films

robbo86otm · 19/07/2015 12:08

An interesting idea the prequel, the film looks action packed with a bit of comedy, one for the big screen

JoGibbons · 19/07/2015 16:04

The film looks exciting, big budget and full of adventure. I'm sure both my children would love to see this 13 & 10. I'm a little confused to how the story will be expanded from the original, but I'm sure it will all make sense!

4yoniD · 19/07/2015 18:11

As a movie it looks quite good and interesting. But as a fore-runner to Peter Pan it looks like it took a LOT of liberties. Hook doesn't look very hook-like, what is with the vast crowds of people? The fairies (if that is what they are?? Or just the "Natives"?) look un-fairy like (and unnecessarily odd) and again seem to exist in vast numbers. I like my movies accurate and truthful. I won't be impressed if the end result of this movie doesn't really tie up with all the other movies.

Funkyferret · 19/07/2015 18:42

It looks beautifully made with some quite spectacular special effects - I did wonder if it was the same people as behind Harry Potter before it popped up during the trailer. I think it may be a little scary for really young children but the older ones would love it (I actually think we grown ups would actually enjoy it most!). I don't think I'd go for a 3D screening - there's enough in there without it.

GoEasyPudding · 19/07/2015 18:50

Hugh Jackman the villain? I'll be there!

Good timing for the half term in October. The trailer is a good one, I think the giant crocodile has sold it o my 6 year old son!
(WB people, I may have see a better trailer on you tube earlier in the month)

SaltySeaBird · 19/07/2015 19:22

I'm not sure personally but it's not my type of film. My DD is a bit young (3) although she does love films. I think it looks a bit dark and intense for her though. If she was older I would definitely take her to see it and would do so in 3D as it looks like it has been made for it.
