Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Very gothic looking. I feel this story has aleeady been done numerous times, it's a bit dull constantly recycling old ideas... I'd prefer to take my kids to something more original.

JoJoBaldwin · 17/07/2015 11:23

Oh I think it looks visually amazing! Definitely a touch of the Terry Gilliams about it too, which bodes well. And I love the idea of it being the back story to the relationship between Peter Pan and Hook. Can't wait to take my daughter to see it!

littleme96 · 17/07/2015 11:28

We thought the trailer looked really good and would be interested in seeing it (although I feel my youngest probably wouldn't be able to follow the storyline that well). The imagery looked great and it looks like it would be pretty impressive in 3D, which is the type of showing we would choose to watch the film in.

Whilst it was only a teaser of the film, it would have been nice for it to have been a little clearer on who the characters featured were to give a better insight into the plot.

We particularly liked the flying boat images and the giant crocodile!

blondie123c · 17/07/2015 11:39

Personally we don't enjoy watching 3D, so would only see it in 2D, looks awesome, lots of special effects and some good actors in there:)

Anderson8 · 17/07/2015 11:40

This looks awesome! I love the idea of the prequel, as ive always felt a wee bit sorry for Hook.
My son would love this too, hes 4 and loves action/ adventure/ fantasy movies like Harry Potter and The Hobbit

Ausflug · 17/07/2015 11:41

It looks good, and my 7 year old liked the look of it too, especially the flying ships, though I think maybe it would be a bit intense for her. We haven't seen Hook, but she likes the Disney animated Peter Pan, so knows some of the characters and the original story.

I don't think it would be suitable for my 4 year old though, and I prefer things we can see as a family - we don't go to the cinema often, so it's a big family treat.

I wouldn't watch it in 3D either, I think it's a bit of a gimmick, and not worth paying extra for. Plain old 2D is good enough for me.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 17/07/2015 11:42

Looks really good!
Lots of action & adventure!
Definitely can see it looking great on the big screen & in 3D.
Saying that my DS is too young at 3... I'd say it's aimed more at 7+.
Bet it will be a huge success.

sweir1 · 17/07/2015 11:59

I love a good 3D movie especially fast and furious

glennamy · 17/07/2015 12:29

Looks amazing, I love the idea that it is set before the PP story not just another remake. One to see at the cinema for the full effect!

Ashandco · 17/07/2015 12:37

Looks like one that adults and kids can both enjoy, as looks like has a good mix of humour and action

KittyKat88 · 17/07/2015 12:47

The trailer makes the film look really appealing! I didn't even recognise Hugh Jackman!! I think it looks like a proper adventure film in the mould of Indiana Jones crossed with Avatar. My oldest DD is only 5 so a bit young for this which looks quite scary in places. I think this would appeal to DCs aged 7 and up. I, personally, like 3D films and this could be one of those films which are really enhanced by that technology! The CGI crocodile looked amazing - makes ME want to go and see what it's all about! Grin

rupert23 · 17/07/2015 12:50

i think it looks good very exciting for kids i think my 13 year old would like it my eight year old just watched it and said he doesnt like pirates so maybe its one for me !

baby890 · 17/07/2015 12:51

Looks brilliant! A good family film for all ages to enjoy. Will be going to see this at the cinema.

Emrob86 · 17/07/2015 13:26

My child is way too young for this film but it looks like one that my husband would really like! :)

Lulabellx1 · 17/07/2015 13:28

Looks great, really exciting. I think my DS would really enjoy this. Also... I quite like a bit of Hugh Jackman myself! :)

AnimalAddict · 17/07/2015 14:19

I think it looks fantastic! I like the fact that it's a darker take on the film :)

RockingDuck · 17/07/2015 14:34

very exciting trailer, liked the crocodile jump best, I probably would wait for DVD:

  1. cinema too expensive for 3 kids & me
  2. cinema too intense with a film like that - looks scary for my just 7 yo
  3. Im suspicious of 3D - heard there's research into it damaging childrens' eyes? until more is known we'll stick to dvd/ 2d
kungfupidge · 17/07/2015 15:06

wowo !!! this looks awesome i thought oh no not another pan film as this story really has been played out so many times but this looks really intriguing definitely worth a watch. x

devito92 · 17/07/2015 15:07

Ideal fairytale movie for children re told in a cgi spectular

Bubbles2002 · 17/07/2015 15:13

This looks magical!

sallyhartley · 17/07/2015 15:22

Interesting. Instead of making a dark-and-gritty sequel to Peter Pan, they're making a fanciful (and somewhat dark) prequel.

What I like about this is that it looks imaginative, like it's trying to really create a new world. That may not hold up, but it's a worthy goal for a fantasy film.

WeeMadArthur · 17/07/2015 15:47

It looks good, but it isn't clear what rating it is so I'm not sure if overall it would be too scary for my DS (5). I wouldn't go to a 3D viewing because I doing think DS would keep the glasses on and it's a lot of money to spend on a film that can only be enjoyed with glasses on. It has inspired me to go and get the original story on my Kindle though!

libra101 · 17/07/2015 15:57

As a family, we enjoyed the original story, but found this trailer drew us in.

The story is full of action, with an adorable Peter Pan. The plot is strong enough to keep children of all ages engrossed, and plenty of action which makes the story exciting.

I think it would be thrilling shown in 3D, and would bring the story into the room, though probably a little scary for younger children.

A lot of the trailer was quite dark which (in several places) was difficult to see. Would probably display better on a larger screen.

A great children's story which has been updated without losing its original charm.

Cailin7 · 17/07/2015 16:00

It looks ok, I liked the trailer which is well put together and gives a good clue as to what the film is about. I like Hugh Jackman's other films so I would watch it. My DS's are not fussed with this film or its concept, but DD is 9 and wants to go see it. Although we are not fans of 3D films so would prefer it in 2D

AngelaLondon1234 · 17/07/2015 16:05

My daughter seems captivated and so am I. Cant wait to watch this in the cinema! Personally I would prefer this in 2D the graphics look amazing as it is.
