The team at Vision Direct would love to hear how pregnancy has impacted on your contact lens & glasses wearing habits.

Vision Direct say: “As the UK’s biggest online provider of contact lenses and eye care products, Vision Direct is here to help you enjoy comfortable, healthy vision for less. Our fast delivery, low prices and 7 days a week UK-based customer service are all designed to make things a little easier to manage during the busiest times. Pregnant women often find their eyes change due to shifting hormones and metabolic rates or water-retention (no one’s favourite pregnancy symptom!) We’re always here to help should you need to change your lenses, and you can return them quibble-free."

How has your pregnancy altered the way you wear glasses or contact lenses? Did you find that your eyes were drier and if so, did you try eye drops? Maybe you invested in a new pair of glasses or changed the type of contacts you wear, or perhaps nothing much changed for you.

Share your thoughts – whether your eyesight changed or not Vision Direct want to hear from you; even if you don’t wear glasses or contact lenses.

Everyone who posts a comment will be entered into a prize draw to win a Kindle Fire HDX tablet and a £50 Amazon voucher for filling it with apps, games, movies & music!

Please note that Vision Direct may use your comments – anon of course- on their MN pages, social media or possibly elsewhere; only post if you’re happy with this.

Thanks,
MNHQ

YES!! I thought it would return back to my normal (which was still short sighted) but it hasn't in fact it's got worse and my baby is 1 now. Annoying!!

ninetynineonehundred · 07/06/2015 16:06

Mine didn't change unless I felt very sick and dizzy when it became blurred at times.
It was otherwise normal

annatha · 07/06/2015 16:39

Before having my first baby I was very slightly shortsighted. I wore my glasses maybe three or four times in the year that I had them and didn't really notice a difference. I think I was about 20 weeks when I found myself reaching for them while driving in the dark, and by the time I had my daughter I was wearing them every time I drove. I'd heard that pregnancy could affect your vision so I wasn't too worried.

I'm 16 weeks with baby 2 now and within a few weeks of finding out I went to get prescription sunglasses in preparation! I was amazed at how my vision had changes over the course of a couple of years. I'm now trying to get used to wearing glasses full time.

indiestar · 07/06/2015 19:58

My eyesight occasionally went fuzzy during pregnancy. I had to stop wearing contact lenses for a while to stop them drying out

Awayday · 08/06/2015 15:31

I've really noticed a change in my vision, as in it was a lot worse during pregnancy. I even went to the opticians as I was worried that my sight was deterioting so quickly, but they let me know it is normal. I used to wear glasses when I felt my eyes were straining or for watching tv, driving and reading. I now find that I have to wear them constantly and am going to make An appointment for a contacts trial as soon as I can! Habits wise I brought two extra pairs of glasses whilst pregnant as I was now wearing them so often and kept on misplacing them!

RifRaf · 08/06/2015 18:59

Yes, weirdly I started to think like I needed varivocals as my sight was so variable during pregnancy. Started to even out back to normal now a year after I've had my little one

ksouthcott · 08/06/2015 22:07

MY eyes always get drier and I get really bad headaches right behind my eyes

Treeskater · 08/06/2015 22:34

My eyes definitely changed, not so much my vision but their shape and pressure, rendering my faithful contacts unwearable! Thankfully, a year after dc2 I'm back in them and feeling much happier. I would also add, that lack of sleep can make contacts uncomfortable too, so probably something to bear in mind if you're about to have a baby!

sarah3875 · 09/06/2015 08:18

I tend to wear my glasses more anyway as my vision isn't perfect with contacts. Since being pregnant I've only worn my contacts once. After a couple of hours they were really irritating me. My eyes felt dry and sore. I am happy to stick with my glasses for now.

castleton · 09/06/2015 09:56

Not at all

MissBEverdene · 09/06/2015 11:30

I did find my eyes got drier, which made contact lenses difficult some days. I also found that my sight worsened slightly after my 2nd child was born, whether it was coincidence or not i dont know.

gemima27 · 09/06/2015 18:13

my eyes were terrible...i think a mixture of dryness, tiredness, general changes in the body. didnt bother with my contacts as i would try and grab 40 winks where i could so saved taking them out!

MrsB76 · 09/06/2015 21:25

I have slight astigmatism and need glasses only for work and reading. During pregnancy my eyesight returned to completely normal - only to end up slightly worse a few months after I gave birth! During my pregnancy and for 1-2 months after I didn't need glasses at all. (Although I didn't take an eye test during the pg so it's possible I should have had glasses even then, I just felt I can work fine without them.)

Kem99 · 09/06/2015 22:30

My eyesight has never been great and have worn glasses & contacts since 9yrs old. During pregnancy I found no difference with my eyes or sight and had no idea that your eyes could be affected.

marymanc · 09/06/2015 22:34

My eyesight didn't change during pregnancy or if it did I never noticed. I had regular checks and my eyesight gets worse every time pregnant or not.

rejcomp · 10/06/2015 00:40

Fortunately I've never been in the situation, a little worrying if I were :)

snare · 10/06/2015 07:01

I started to wear glasses more as it was easier and quicker :)

VictoriaSt · 10/06/2015 12:32

no contacts worn during pregnancy!

Rugbylovingmum · 10/06/2015 13:27

I don't wear contact lenses or glasses but I did get dry/itchy eyes during pregnancy and found it difficult to work at the laptop. I had to use eyedrops regularly and take a rest from the screen.

IceLemonGin · 10/06/2015 14:27

I don't wear glasses or contact lenses but I have found my eyes are rather more bleary and get sore - I'm blaming this on the lack of sleep I'm getting due to having a big bump/getting up lots to pee!

Kangakate · 10/06/2015 17:25

I don't think I had any changes in my prescription, I continued wearing the same pair for driving and didn't have any problems

mumpetuk · 10/06/2015 18:51

No, apart from a few headaches that you could say could be associated with the eyes iy did not change

alison991 · 10/06/2015 19:23

My eyesight didn't change. I always wore glasses and still do. I never wanted to wear contact, I don't like the idea

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/06/2015 19:31

My vision changed quite a bit (for the better) when I was pregnant.

I did have problems with my contact lenses though and had to switch to glasses. My eyes used to get quite dry and irritable.

I had no idea that pregnancy could affect your vision before that - it would have been useful to know.

dirtypop · 10/06/2015 19:37

had no effect really, was lucky
