The team at Vision Direct would love to hear how pregnancy has impacted on your contact lens & glasses wearing habits.

Vision Direct say: “As the UK’s biggest online provider of contact lenses and eye care products, Vision Direct is here to help you enjoy comfortable, healthy vision for less. Our fast delivery, low prices and 7 days a week UK-based customer service are all designed to make things a little easier to manage during the busiest times. Pregnant women often find their eyes change due to shifting hormones and metabolic rates or water-retention (no one’s favourite pregnancy symptom!) We’re always here to help should you need to change your lenses, and you can return them quibble-free."

How has your pregnancy altered the way you wear glasses or contact lenses? Did you find that your eyes were drier and if so, did you try eye drops? Maybe you invested in a new pair of glasses or changed the type of contacts you wear, or perhaps nothing much changed for you.

Share your thoughts – whether your eyesight changed or not Vision Direct want to hear from you; even if you don’t wear glasses or contact lenses.

Everyone who posts a comment will be entered into a prize draw to win a Kindle Fire HDX tablet and a £50 Amazon voucher for filling it with apps, games, movies & music!

Please note that Vision Direct may use your comments – anon of course- on their MN pages, social media or possibly elsewhere; only post if you’re happy with this.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Yes, although not too bad everything is a bit fuzzier than usual, can only really tell when trying to read from a distance so not too bad. It goes back to normal shortly after birth. Figure it is just one of those things like my feet swelling.

chr1ssy0908 · 11/06/2015 06:03

I needed glasses for occasional use but fopund during my pregnancy that i would suffer from painful headaches due to not wearing them, so I now wear my glasses all of the time

chrriss · 11/06/2015 09:16

I had slight double vision during my first pregnancy only for a few weeks. No problems at all with my second pregnancy.

Kandboys · 11/06/2015 10:02

I was lucky in that my eyesight didn't change with my three pregnancies. I have just, however, had to have my first pair of glasses but that is due to getting older not babies haha!

hannahlw85 · 11/06/2015 10:57

I had no idea that pregnancy could effect eyes like that. The only problem I had is that I couldn't wear my contacts for as long, but I have had periods of time where that happens outside of pregnancy anyway.

TiggersAngel7774 · 11/06/2015 12:33

I no longer need to wear them

Dessallara · 11/06/2015 13:50

Since having my little girl it became more difficult to wear contact lenses, before I was never leaving home in my glasses. Now contact lenses drying my eyes really quickly, so must wear glasses all the time.

ikkle87 · 11/06/2015 14:27

I didn't find pregnancy affected my vision at all but it did make me more likely to take care of myself and that included wearing my glasses more

Ryancrawshaw · 11/06/2015 15:23

well I manged to scrap the car during pregnancy - i could believe it I have been driving for 15 years and nothing. argh

k8vincent · 11/06/2015 16:04

I certainly didn't notice any issues with my contact lenses during pregnancy. Bizarrely, my eyesight has 'improved' since having children. Perhaps that is because I have trained myself to spot those tiny bits of Lego that cause so much agony underfoot!

helcrai · 11/06/2015 16:58

Strangely, my eyesight seems to have got better since being pregnant. I used to need glasses to see properly when driving at night but my eyesight is good enough now not to need them. I did get a bit wobbly/dizzy when pregnant and went to the opticians to see if it was to do with my vision- turns out not, probably my centre of gravity changing due to all the weight I was carrying!

piggypoo · 11/06/2015 17:30

I just used to wear my specs, as my eyes felt itchy with contacts, and also very dried out. As soon as I gave birth, My eyes stopped itching and I was able to wear contacts again.

reenu · 11/06/2015 17:30

to be honest, I dint know that pregnancy can affect eyesight! I am a mum of one and I did not experience any!!

nanoobaku · 11/06/2015 17:38

cannot recall my eyesight being affected but after giving birth had to get reading glasses not sure if it just age or to do with the pregancy

peronel · 11/06/2015 18:18

My eyesight got noticeably worse immediately after giving birth. Because I hated the idea of wearing glasses I put up with it for too long. In retrospect I am annoyed that I didn't get tested and wear glasses straight away as I now feel I have missed seeing in detail some of the most precious moments!

jennie1984j · 11/06/2015 18:46

My eyesight was perfect until i became pregnant, i now need glasses full time! Worth it though!

jacqroberts68 · 11/06/2015 18:48

Made no difference to my eyesight as much as I can remember. I wear glasses now but not then.

islandmummy · 11/06/2015 19:00

My eyesight changed to the point I was signed off work and haven't been able to work since as the accommodation in my eyes is so weak. Started when I was pregnant with my first child.

thesoupdragon44 · 11/06/2015 21:08

I know that I had my eyes tested before I was pregnant and all was ok, I didn't suffer from any big problems a little conjunctivitis which I couldn't treat while pregnant but nothing which changed my vision.

beb73 · 11/06/2015 22:12

Pregnancy didn't change my glasses wearing. I was very careful about where I kept them after baby started to walk.

eve394 · 11/06/2015 22:57

My eyes became very dry and found that after 10 years of no problems I had to resort to wearing my glasses. My baby is a week old now and have been able to wear my contacts everyday since birth with no problems!

BuzzardBird · 12/06/2015 10:20

My eyesight didn't change in pregnancy other than it was blurry if I was tired...which is normal for me.

Juniper44 · 12/06/2015 18:49

My eyesight improved, which was strange.

I found I could no longer tolerate contact lenses, though.

goldenretriever1978 · 12/06/2015 20:01

I kind of don't believe that eye sight changes at all during pregnancy - but I suspect if it did, it would be for the worse!
