The team at Vision Direct would love to hear how pregnancy has impacted on your contact lens & glasses wearing habits.

Vision Direct say: “As the UK’s biggest online provider of contact lenses and eye care products, Vision Direct is here to help you enjoy comfortable, healthy vision for less. Our fast delivery, low prices and 7 days a week UK-based customer service are all designed to make things a little easier to manage during the busiest times. Pregnant women often find their eyes change due to shifting hormones and metabolic rates or water-retention (no one’s favourite pregnancy symptom!) We’re always here to help should you need to change your lenses, and you can return them quibble-free."

How has your pregnancy altered the way you wear glasses or contact lenses? Did you find that your eyes were drier and if so, did you try eye drops? Maybe you invested in a new pair of glasses or changed the type of contacts you wear, or perhaps nothing much changed for you.

Share your thoughts – whether your eyesight changed or not Vision Direct want to hear from you; even if you don’t wear glasses or contact lenses.

Everyone who posts a comment will be entered into a prize draw to win a Kindle Fire HDX tablet and a £50 Amazon voucher for filling it with apps, games, movies & music!

Please note that Vision Direct may use your comments – anon of course- on their MN pages, social media or possibly elsewhere; only post if you’re happy with this.

Thanks,
MNHQ

No changes through 2 pregnancies

ElectroNymph · 29/05/2015 06:15

No. My eyesight didn't change at all. I just had the usual insatiable appetite!

ThemisA · 29/05/2015 06:16

I had no problems which I now realise was quite lucky

createbeauty · 29/05/2015 06:22

My vision did not appear to change when I was pregnant, though everytime I sat down I would get a pulsing of my vision.

PuzzleRocks · 29/05/2015 06:30

I have worn glasses to correct my short sightedness since I was 21. First pregnancy at 29 did not affect my vision. Second pregnancy 15 months later gave me horrendous migraines which always began with aura. Almost weekly I would get the wiggly line visuals ten minutes before the pain kicked in. Post pregnancy (6 years later) I have these perhaps once a year. My sight prescription has changed marginally for the worse, and only once, in the years since.

PuzzleRocks · 29/05/2015 06:32

I am also an infrequent contact lens wearer but not during pregnancy as they were very uncomfortable.

janeyf1 · 29/05/2015 06:35

I wear my glasses more often now. Before I just used them for driving. My eyesight has deteroriated a bit

glenka · 29/05/2015 06:40

I never knew it could change during pregnancy. I always wear glasses anyway so I didn't notice any difference.

BoredHorse · 29/05/2015 06:46

When I was pregnant my eyesight worsened in both eyes by -0.5
I needed new glasses. I also found it extremely uncomfortable to wear a
Contact lenses. My eyes became really dry and have not really improved since. I now have to use eye drops very often whilst wearing them.

jt75 · 29/05/2015 07:23

I don't wear glasses or contact lenses.

mave · 29/05/2015 07:35

I only wear glasses for the TV and didn't notice any changes in my eyes. I honestly didn't know that pregnancy affected your eyesight!

badgermum · 29/05/2015 07:58

I found my vision got slightly worse and i suffered from dry eyes, however it has since improved greatly and more or less returned to normal

hiddenmichelle · 29/05/2015 08:00

It didn't impact much at all. But with the tiredness at the beginning of the pregnancy, I found myself switching to glasses earlier in the day as my eyes felt so tired too!

Ganne · 29/05/2015 08:07

It was some time ago, but not at all ...

muppet150 · 29/05/2015 08:18

I only have to wear glasses for reading/watching tv etc but i did find when i was pregnant that i ended up with headaches from straining to see things in focus.

cnut · 29/05/2015 08:25

Well, boringly I have to say that I did not experience any change with my eyesight during all three of my pregnancies, after reading other comments I feel quite lucky x

junebaby2011 · 29/05/2015 08:32

I wear contact lenses daily and have noticed no change in my vision or in the comfort of my lenses.

cazzzie987 · 29/05/2015 08:33

A lot of the time I forget where I have put them to wear them! I definitely have more of a need for them now.

barbsbarbs · 29/05/2015 08:43

my contact lens didnt fit as well as my eyeball changed shapes, but thye went back to normal when I gave birth.

maisiesnan · 29/05/2015 09:38

I didn't experience any difference in my vision during my pregnancies

JoJoBaldwin · 29/05/2015 10:04

I had REALLY dry eyes when pregnant and also suffered with hayfever quite a bit as couldn't take medication for it. So ended up wearing glasses much more often.

KittyKat88 · 29/05/2015 10:08

I only needed glasses for reading prior to pregnancy and didn't notice much change throughout either of my pregnancies. However I'm sure there was a correlation between sleep deprivation and my having 'tired eyes'! Shock

sweetsomethings · 29/05/2015 10:13

it really didnt make a difference to me to be honest.

DreamofFields · 29/05/2015 10:29

My vision with my glasses (for shortsightedness) was a bit blurry in pregnancy 2 and I went to optician who said my eyes now 20/20. Amazing. Not worn glasses since. Hope this pregnancy for number 3 doesn't change them back.

lhlee62 · 29/05/2015 11:29

I have found that my eyesight has got worse during my pregnancies, I have also read that breastfeeding can prolong these changes so I am waiting until after I have finished before I have another eye test, hopefully my eyes will improve once I stop.
