Hobbycraft have asked us to find out what arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs during the Easter period.

Here’s what they say, “With lots of opportunities for fun over the Easter holidays we’d love to know what crafty activities you’ll be taking part in this Easter holidays! Are you making Easter bonnets, or even creating your own egg hunt or maybe baking with the kids? Here at Hobbycraft we’d love to hear about how you create your own Easter family traditions!”

So, what kind of arts and crafts activities will you be doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter? Maybe you’ll be painting and decorating Easter eggs? Or will you be making Easter bonnets in time for an Easter bonnet parade at school? Whatever it is we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win £100 Hobbycraft gift cards!

Last year, here at MNHQ we put together a video tutorial on making an Easter bonnet so if you need any inspiration do check it out!

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

P.S. For more Easter crafts ideas, check out our Hobbycraft pages on Mumsnet.

We have already made some cardboard eggs and rabbits for painting, we will use those to make some decorations.

Hopefully, I'll have time to get some Easter bonnets for the DC to decorate as well.

Anj123 · 17/03/2015 15:41

We will organised an egg hunt and do some baking which will invariably involve chocolate! I am also hoping my daughter will continue with a tapestry she's doing!

psychotart · 17/03/2015 15:56

Making Easter cards, eggs, cake and and egg hunt.

SevenEleven · 17/03/2015 15:57

DD (7) struggles at school and worries about it quite a bit but has just discovered a love of sewing! She will sit for hours with those felt doll kits from Hobbycraft, cushion making kits and squares of felt making various toys and it makes her so happy. It's nice to see her enjoy succeeding at something and feeling good about herself. I'll be stocking up on fabrics, buttons, beads and threads to keep her entertained! DS (5) enjoys more of the painting and sticking type crafts and anything to do with trains! We may paint a track layout for his Hornby set, stick on little cars, people, grass etc.

Off to caravan with lots of crafty things to keep the children busy if the weather is not good

exmrs · 17/03/2015 18:23

I am planning an easter who dunnit mystery for my son with clues on easter eggs signs.

tabbycat7 · 17/03/2015 19:09

We are going to be making Easter hats and an Easter garden. Ds2 has a box full of loo roll insides so we're going to make stuff out of those too.

kaycm25 · 17/03/2015 20:00

We are doing an easter frieze, some baking and an easter egg hunt.

JeffTheGodOfBiscuits · 17/03/2015 20:05

Painting eggs, a treasure hunt with clues to the whereabouts of the Easter eggs, baking. Might make Easter cards too.

bridge16 · 17/03/2015 20:56

We will be making Easter cards for all the family as well as easter biscuits to give to them, cant wait!!

LucyLou2003 · 17/03/2015 21:16

We're going to be making an Easter tree from twigs, complete with beautiful sparkly eggs.
Although, I can just about paint my nails so I'm not quite sure the finished tree will look anything like the image I have in my head Grin

RedKites · 17/03/2015 21:19

I expect we will do some painting over the holidays. I think we'll also have an Easter egg hunt. We did a little one last year, and I'm pretty sure DS1 remembers, so I think we might be required to.

Making Easter Bonnets with lashings of crepe and tissue paper and silk flowers and chocolate Easter nests from Rice Krispies and mini eggs

lhlee62 · 17/03/2015 21:28

I'm going to blow some eggs and we are going to decorate them, I might do some Easter bonnets too. My daughter loves gluing stuff so I'm sure we'll make some chicks and lambs

Maiyakat · 17/03/2015 21:50

DD spent the weekend wearing her cousin's Easter bonnet (from last year) so I think we'll have to make one of those!

Cailin7 · 17/03/2015 21:51

We will be making a bird box for the garden and painting some eggs.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 17/03/2015 22:06

DD (3) is going to make some cardboard Easter bunting and decorate polystyrene eggs.

I imagine there will be a lot of glitter involved.

peanutmum111 · 17/03/2015 22:41

Easter is fun and all about 'new life'.
We do much colouring of cards, Easter eggs, pictures according to the children's ages.
If there is an opportunity to wear a 'bonnet', we may make flowers for that, if not they could go in a 'vase'.
Then there are the boxes to make, so they can be filled with those 'Easter nests' we make as presents for grandparents

clopper · 17/03/2015 23:08

We will be decorating eggs for an egg hunt and making boxes and bags to collect them in. We usually make nest cakes from corn flakes, crushed shredded wheat and chocolate and decorate them with those tiny fluffy chicks and candy eggs.

chickensandbees · 18/03/2015 08:19

There's an easter event in the village so we will be attempting to make bonnets for that. I will also get them to make easter cards for GPs.

There's also going to be an easter egg hunt...maybe two.

vixxx666 · 18/03/2015 10:12

We'll be doing some hand print flower pot pictures for family members, baking shortbread biscuits and collecting leaves to make pictures :)

gizmosmama · 18/03/2015 11:03

We'll be making Easter cards with tissue paper flower petals and card stems to stick on then painting egg cartons for the flower middles. We've also got some Easter cookie cutters for making Easter biscuits which we're going to give to family for Easter gifts. And of course, we'll be blowing and decorating eggs.

Signoritawhocansway · 18/03/2015 11:40

We'll be baking cakes for visitors, decorating egs and making a spring themed nature table. Can't wait!

ChristmasName · 18/03/2015 11:50

Hoping to try egg dyeing and maybe something garden related if the weather obliges

Ruby6918 · 18/03/2015 12:06

we recycle old plastic lemonade bottles and have saved up loads to turn into flowers for the garden and to give out as easter gifts its really easy and teaches kids about re cycling, we always bake fairy cakes with yellow icy and a wee fluffy chick on top, i found an old sun hat of mine about ten yrs old bright pink so letting the girls go crazy with glitter, stick on flowers and im using an old silk scarf i havent worn in years as the bow, we always go to lady dixons park as its free and roll our eggs down the big hill at the rose garden in a race its a laugh most of them get all smashed up but handy tip, paint them in a layer of pva glue and allow to dry before ur egg race!
have included a few fotos of our recycled bottles
