Hobbycraft have asked us to find out what arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs during the Easter period.

Here’s what they say, “With lots of opportunities for fun over the Easter holidays we’d love to know what crafty activities you’ll be taking part in this Easter holidays! Are you making Easter bonnets, or even creating your own egg hunt or maybe baking with the kids? Here at Hobbycraft we’d love to hear about how you create your own Easter family traditions!”

So, what kind of arts and crafts activities will you be doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter? Maybe you’ll be painting and decorating Easter eggs? Or will you be making Easter bonnets in time for an Easter bonnet parade at school? Whatever it is we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win £100 Hobbycraft gift cards!

Last year, here at MNHQ we put together a video tutorial on making an Easter bonnet so if you need any inspiration do check it out!

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

P.S. For more Easter crafts ideas, check out our Hobbycraft pages on Mumsnet.

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 16/03/2015 20:33

I plan to potty train DD over Easter, so I will be mining this thread for activity ideas! So far we plan to do some baking, I am going to do an egg hunt for her in the house/garden as the weather permits, and get some tissue paper, glue stick, sprinkly bits (a lot of things I don't usually have time to tidy up) & we are going to play with them & practise with the new safety scissors.

lukkilu · 16/03/2015 20:34

I really want to do something different this year so going to have a good read through all these comments. My youngest brought his homework home today which is to decorate a (cutout paper) egg, but the other 2 haven't got theirs yet so not sure what we'll be doing for theirs. I'd like to do some easter baking and have some clues for a hunt leading to lots of differents treats for them too

KittyKat88 · 16/03/2015 20:37

We're going a design your easter egg poster competition for school so DD1 will get stuck in with her pens, glue and feathers. At home we will create a large paper mache egg and then I will fill it with special goodies for the kids for Easter day! :)

sterling123 · 16/03/2015 20:45

i will be doing an easter egg hunt with my grandchildren and baking cakes and present them with crochet slippers that i have made them

becks213 · 16/03/2015 20:51

We will be making Easter bonnets and colouring in Easter themed pictures. We also make Easter cards for all my very catholic family in Ireland, I forgot last year and apparently I wasn't too popular for about a week or so afterwards! :)

Purpleflamingos · 16/03/2015 20:54

A gingerbread house with hansel and gretal, the same house in chocolate. If the weather is rubbish, finger painting flowers, if it's nice we will be outside building sandcastles, sand turtles, sand bunnies and woodland arts (collect sticks and twigs and glue them onto paper in the shape of houses, boats, bees etc).

pfcpompeysarah · 16/03/2015 21:02

We are going to make some easter cakes, paint a few eggs with silly faces and there will probably be time for making an easter bonnet or two once we have finished eating the cakes!

Marg2k8 · 16/03/2015 21:04

My children are now older, so I won't be doing craft things with them. When they were younger, we used to enjoy making easter cards and little chicks out of wool.

danniian · 16/03/2015 21:07

Easter cards and painting eggs :)

feefeegabor · 16/03/2015 21:10

Lovelydiscusfish · 16/03/2015 21:18

We'll probably do quite a bit at home - am already planning:
Making and decorating biscuits - have bought Easter shaped cutters - egg, bunny and the like.
Making a bunny sock puppet.
Painting a pottery egg.

Am sure there will be some more, too.

Theimpossiblegirl · 16/03/2015 21:45

Easter baking- I saw an amazing mini egg cake on Facebook earlier we want to try.

Making decorations for our Easter tree (I know, sorry).

Home-made cards for the grandparents.

Bonnets for school.

Waitingonasunnyday · 16/03/2015 21:56

V impressed with the GCSE student making a leather bag! That's awesome.

DD wants to decorate egg for school competition. DS will do a bit more knitting. I intend on clearing out the craft cupboard as it's become a dumping ground. Then I intend to treat myself to a glue gun, for no reason other than they seem cool. I don't really even know what to do with them.

sarahsnail · 16/03/2015 22:06

Easter bonnets for us this year, the school is having a easter bonnet parade so we have to get pretty crafty and imaginative to stand out.

redmiffy · 16/03/2015 22:07

We will be making chocolate Easter lollipops, doing lots of Easter egg hunts including designing arrows, signs and clues and will have a go at making some model lambs! Making our own Easter cards will also be on our to do list!

Leiajulie · 16/03/2015 22:22

saving ll egg shells to make for the kids room and also some shredded wheat chocolate nests with mini eggs

gingercat12 · 16/03/2015 22:28

For Christmas we were sewing hand puppets. So for Easter we'll try to learn knitting and or crocheting.
I have already bought a paper lantern kit to make up, and might make some cards up together.
We might try baking a bunny cake, but that might be a step too far.
