Hobbycraft have asked us to find out what arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs during the Easter period.

Here’s what they say, “With lots of opportunities for fun over the Easter holidays we’d love to know what crafty activities you’ll be taking part in this Easter holidays! Are you making Easter bonnets, or even creating your own egg hunt or maybe baking with the kids? Here at Hobbycraft we’d love to hear about how you create your own Easter family traditions!”

So, what kind of arts and crafts activities will you be doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter? Maybe you’ll be painting and decorating Easter eggs? Or will you be making Easter bonnets in time for an Easter bonnet parade at school? Whatever it is we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win £100 Hobbycraft gift cards!

Last year, here at MNHQ we put together a video tutorial on making an Easter bonnet so if you need any inspiration do check it out!

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

P.S. For more Easter crafts ideas, check out our Hobbycraft pages on Mumsnet.

Now that dd is a teenager, we don't do as much craft stuff as we used to, but I'll still be painting some blown eggs to hang on willow twigs inside. We will also probably make some Easter themed cupcakes.

stewaris · 18/03/2015 13:17

Decorating eggs, making cards for grans and decorating easter bonnets if we have time.

my4kids · 18/03/2015 13:28

We get about 25 kids (friends and family) at our house and do an Easter Bonnet competition. Top prize goes to the craziest and the nicest. Loads of fun!

prakattack · 18/03/2015 14:25

We'll be making an Easter bonnet for the Nursery parade but no idea what we're doing for that yet (will be checking out the Hobbycraft pages for inspiration!).
otherwise, we'll be doing an egg hunt and almost certainly making chocolate Easter nests. We don't do as much arts and crafts at Easter compared to Christmas - no decorations, cards or anything.
Still looking forward to it though!

YerTiz · 18/03/2015 16:32

We have a joint birthday party so we'll be decorating a cake (not easter themed) and will also make cornflake cake nests with mini eggs.

No other plans at the moment so watching this thread for ideas!

PleaseGetOffTheTableDarling · 18/03/2015 16:38

We've been trawling charity shops for hats to decorate as Easter bonnets, and will be making an Easter tree. We'll make some nest cakes as well, and I'll TRY to dye some boiled eggs for breakfast on the day!

andy07 · 18/03/2015 19:52

we always make our own baskets to do the egg hunt and then we decorate foam eggs and an easter bonnet each. Great fun for all

jandoc · 18/03/2015 22:53

we will be making easter cards for family

AvaAmulet · 18/03/2015 23:06

We have bought and filled hollow plastic eggs with stickers and treats and spent some time decorating the eggs. We will use these for our traditional Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday Grin x

sardoh · 19/03/2015 11:41

I am currently teaching my children how to knit so we will be making egg cosys :)

Cambam2010 · 19/03/2015 11:46

We are going to be blowing some eggs and decorating the shells. We pick a theme each year - i think we will be doing either Star Wars or Minecraft characters this Easter.

We have Easter themed cutters so we will most likely make some plain biscuits to decorate which we will then gift to our friends.

dilydaly · 19/03/2015 11:58

Making easter cards for their grandparents in Athens, dying eggs various colours, easter bonnets and easter masks for the easter day hunt !

hayls83 · 19/03/2015 12:12

We'll be doing an easter egg hunt, making Easter chocolate nests with mini eggs in them and making Easter cards for family.

thesoupdragon44 · 19/03/2015 13:39

I will be doing some baking with my boy as he wants to make all his friends Easter nests! I think we will also make some baskets and maybe some Easter bunting to decorate our home.

Ritakd · 19/03/2015 14:56

We'll be making Easter Cards for family abroad.

JulesJules · 19/03/2015 15:07

We will be baking (any excuse) - I made some salted caramel brownies for Mothers Day and my two DDs are keen to lick out the bowl help me make some more to take to Grandparents for Easter.

Also knitting. Have been trying to get them knitting without much enthusiasm, but since the 12yo has seen a Youtube tutorial by someone she follows, she's more keen to have another go. She has also discovered my pompom maker and I think we will be doing some strings of those too.

matphil · 19/03/2015 15:35

We will be painting eggs, making biscuits and 'egg nests' and making a few Easter themed decorations to put on the walls.

lindarumsey · 19/03/2015 17:43

I'm going to teach my daughter to knit. Last year she learned to cross stitch and loves it still!

Catty212 · 19/03/2015 18:22

My sons just started walking properly so we will have a simply but fun easter egg hunt followed by lots of messy play and easter painting

FluffyPingPong · 19/03/2015 18:53

My 18month old son and I have already been making Easter cards so send out to friends and family! Unfortunately we ran out of tissue paper, but when I get around to buying some we will definitely be making more! He had so much fun!

Tracey78 · 19/03/2015 18:58

We have already made our own easter cards for family, and we'll be making egg nest cupcakes, with a large cake too, that we've got sugarcraft plans for. Handmade invitations and name cards for family easter dinner.

Princessxo · 19/03/2015 20:26

Easter baking and decorating. But we'll also be doing hard boiled eggs and decorating those.

I bought DS a card making set recently which he hasn't touched so I'm hoping I can convince him to start using it.

lottietiger · 19/03/2015 22:17

I will be making Easter outfits for nursery and will be making Easter cards and decorating eggs. The big plan for this Easter is to decorate my sons new bedroom so crafts will involve making bits and pieces for this including curtains etc for me and some paintings made by DS, with DH help.

ThePaperBagPrincess · 19/03/2015 22:25

We will be making our first Easter bonnet!

  1. The Egg Treasure Hunt is always great fun, so that is a must.
  2. Spotted the Universal egg wraps on sale, definitely hope to purchase some as they appear to be great fun. Failing that (or in addition to that), it will be back to the traditional method of using stickers & felt pens to create egg designs.
  3. And we'll have a few special ones to go with the above - empty egg shell with the top broken off and stuffed with cotton wool and cress seeds. After the face/body is drawn on, sit back and watch the hair grow (i.e. the cress leaves)
  4. We intend to make it through Badger Woods, which runs along the outskirts of our town, and joins onto green space leading up to the Chiltern Hills and Dunstable Downs. Also referred to as Bluebell Woods since this beautiful flower will be in full bloom next month, and produce a sea of blue across the field. It's a challenge making it through one end of the dense woods to the next, and to make it as exciting as possible, I intend to set up a treasure hunt (could be the egg hunt here, although that's better in our own garden) and tracking/trailing activity, as well as leaf collection, collecting as many different samples as possible to create collage art designs.
