Hobbycraft have asked us to find out what arts and crafts activities you’ll be doing with your DCs during the Easter period.

Here’s what they say, “With lots of opportunities for fun over the Easter holidays we’d love to know what crafty activities you’ll be taking part in this Easter holidays! Are you making Easter bonnets, or even creating your own egg hunt or maybe baking with the kids? Here at Hobbycraft we’d love to hear about how you create your own Easter family traditions!”

So, what kind of arts and crafts activities will you be doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter? Maybe you’ll be painting and decorating Easter eggs? Or will you be making Easter bonnets in time for an Easter bonnet parade at school? Whatever it is we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win £100 Hobbycraft gift cards!

Last year, here at MNHQ we put together a video tutorial on making an Easter bonnet so if you need any inspiration do check it out!

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

P.S. For more Easter crafts ideas, check out our Hobbycraft pages on Mumsnet.

Baking Easter themed treats, maybe decorating some eggs and making some fluffy chicken decorations. :)

mulgrove · 24/03/2015 17:44

Yes we are painting egg and making cookies Smile

marymanc · 24/03/2015 19:24

Before Easter the children had competitions at school, my DD decorated an egg so it could be her favourite teacher and my DS made the traditional Easter bonnet. For Easter we usually decorate boiled eggs with food colouring and ribbons, make an egg hunt and make some decoration for the Easter lunch.

LizOz · 24/03/2015 20:00

Definitely an egg hunt and also some Easter baking.

jacqroberts68 · 24/03/2015 20:05

I've decided that all the kids need to learn to sew. I've got some mazes etc to print on paper for them to try on the sewing machine and I think we'll try some buttons as well.

beautifulsimplicity · 24/03/2015 21:34

purplemeggie · 24/03/2015 21:56

We've never done Easter bonnets before, so I think we'll do that. Making Easter-themed chocolate things....I have some themed moulds.

Jennyba · 24/03/2015 22:12

MaryDunlop99 · 24/03/2015 22:15

Will be making surprise Easter eggs with kids. The surprise is each egg has a gift or chocolate put in by me. The eggs are then hidden around the garden.

stellabella999 · 24/03/2015 22:21

Indoor or outdoor egg hunt (weather deciding) and will be making the biggest and best-est bonnet ever seen !!!!!

srobbo71 · 24/03/2015 22:29

My dd wants to learn to crochet and ds loves playdoh so we will make our own :)

aligiraffe · 24/03/2015 22:37

My sons are too old to do crafts with now, but we always painted eggs when they were small. My eldest has children of his own now & he remembers what we used to do so is planning on carrying on the tradition. I expect a nice painted egg :)

Tonkatol · 24/03/2015 22:42

My Easter will be spent doing different things with different children. My eldest will be back from Uni, so will be enjoying her company, then I have a son studying for his "A" levels and another daughter studying for her GSCE's, which will mean I need to keep my 8 year old busy and not making too much noise. We will definitely be making Shredded Wheat Easter nests and also having an Easter Egg hunt. We will also try and make a game that incorporates basic maths with fun - a type of Ludo and, if I'm feeling ambitious, I make include some spelling practice on the question cards!!

PrettyPenguin · 24/03/2015 22:56

My kids are working towards their Arts Award - Discover level at the moment so we'll be doing all manner of things for that; painting, papier mache eggs, clay modelling etc.

Actual Easter type crafts - we usually make an Easter 'tree' with some pussy willow sticks and decorate it with painted polysterene eggs on strings. We also paint real eggs to have pretty dippy eggs for tea!
The school has an Easter disco each year and there's always an Easter bonnet competition so we'll be making those this week too!

ikkle87 · 24/03/2015 23:31

we will be making chocolate cornflake easter buns and some salt dough pebbles with my sons hand and foot prints in for my garden

TiggersAngel7774 · 24/03/2015 23:31

bex552 · 25/03/2015 07:37

We have to be a bit careful around this time of year because my little girl is severely allergic to eggs but we will def be making an eater bonnet ready for an easter egg hunt in the garden!

sallyann123 · 25/03/2015 08:24

Me and the kids always make personalised biscuits for all the children in the family which they love having unusual names! We also make an easter bonnet together and join the parade at school wearing it :D

littlemisstrivia · 25/03/2015 08:29
