The National Lottery would like to know who you would like to pay tribute to on Mother's Day.

Working with the charity Home-Start, The National Lottery gave one incredible Mum the surprise of a life time to thank her for the difference she’s made to so many.

Watch the video below or click here to watch it.

So we want to ask you, is there someone special that you’d like to thank on Mother’s Day? It may, of course, be your own Mum, it could be an aunt or a neighbour. Whoever it is, we’d love to hear a bit about what made them so special to you Smile.

Everyone who adds their thoughts to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

My Mum who goes well beyond the call of duty and without her I would just fall apart x

I would love to thank Kath, my mum. She did not give me life, but she gave me love, laughter and support. She dried my tears and kicked me up the bum when I needed it. She has never faltered in her love for me and though she didn't give me life she has always been there for me after my birth mother walked away. I am proud to call her mum

My mother in law, she had a crappy year broke her leg in 3 places a week later my father in law died of a heart attack but she has stayed so strong through out. She really is the glue that holds the family together and I know how lucky I am to have a
Mother in law that I actually like and get on with. We go shopping together or can just sit and chat putting the world to rights. Shes one in a million

My cousin who's widowed. She's always busy doing things and never mopes around feeling sorry for herself. She helps out at a charity shop twice a week. She is an inspiration on how to manage by yourself when older.

sarah3875 · 19/03/2015 10:55

It would be my Mum. She's a constant rock. Totally unique and special to me.

My mum. She is amazing and selfless. She has MS herself but never lets that stop her from helping any of her 4 children or 4 grand children. She is amazing and loved by us all x

I would like to pay tribute to the mothers of Sweets Way N20, who are currently occupying the housing estate they have been forced out to make way for private developers. All power to them and their love of their families.

casspuss · 19/03/2015 11:30

my beautiful mother!

Cambam2010 · 19/03/2015 11:50

My dear mother lost her own mother to Pneumonia on the Saturday before Mothering Sunday. This made Mothers day particularly painful for my mum this year so I would like to treat her to a day out to take her mind off the upcoming funeral and to give her a break from all the arrangements etc that she is having to do.

I'd love to pay tribute to my nan. Sadly she passed away many years ago now but she pretty much raised me whilst my mum worked 60hrs a week to keep a roof over our heads as a single parent. My nan really was a second mum to me and the most inspirational women in my life. She was the strongest person I know who lived through so much and never complained.

I would love to thank my mum for everything she has done over the past 3 years, when my little boy was 6 weeks premature she drove me to hospital everyday to see him as i couldnt drive to due stitches. She has an illness that wipes her out on a daily basis but she still manages to put my family first and will help out at the drop of a hat!

i love her so much

My mum. She ran the London Marathon at 60 to raise money for her granddaughters charity. Now at 65 she is planning to trek to Everest Base Camp. She is a force of nature and always there for her family. Thanks Mum!

I would thank my sister she is selfless with a heart of gold, an unsung hero who story has never been told, she deserves a fantastic treat, she is kind and very sweet, she's always smiling and having fun, never telling people how hard it is to be a mum, no complaining about their life troubles, but those who deal with special needs will know they live in their own bubble. My sister, my best friend and my rock.

So difficult to choose - my mum, obviously, for being there and being great. My dad - may he RIP - taken much too soon but not forgotten by many people. My dh - who is always fantastic and who cherishes me in so many thoughtful ways. My dsis who always does so much for others despite the cost to her and who puts up with so much from those closest to her.

However, if I had to nominate just one then I'd go for my gran, sadly long gone too but she made it to the ripe old age of 95. And until the age of 93 when she had to move into a nursing home, she used to volunteer at her local old age pensioner's club, despite the fact that she was older than most of the 'old dears' that she was helping to look after. She always said she got much more enjoyment from being one of the volunteers - both the camaraderie with the other much younger volunteers who helped to keep her young and the fact she was able to help others less fortunate than herself.

She played golf and bridge into her 90s too, to keep herself fit physically and mentally (her local golf club gave her an honorary membership once she could no longer hit golf balls, so she could continue to go to the club house and walk around with her friends that could still play). She looked after my invalid grandfather. She did so much for her family, friends and her local community. I just wish that she'd had a chance to meet her great grandchildren as she loved babies and would have been so happy to meet the next generation!

I'd love to thank my grandmother, she has helped me more than she can comprehend.

RobsComps99 · 19/03/2015 14:00

My mum is the best! She is everything a great mum should be..caring, kind, unselfish. I'm lucky to have her

greentoad · 19/03/2015 14:56

I'd like to thank my mum for a lot of patience, no matter what - with everyone in our large family.

snare · 19/03/2015 15:04

my mum is lovely and caring and my best friend :)

chunkychocky · 19/03/2015 15:11

I'd like to pay tribute to my children. They are gorgeous and wonderful and make me the person I am! I think it should be re-named children's day!

handbar · 19/03/2015 15:28

It is actually my daughter-in-law as she is such a good mother to my five grandchildren.

itsali · 19/03/2015 15:34

I'm thanking my mum for being grumpy in the morning, for being able to wield a power tool like a pro and teaching me DIY, for sharing her chocolate stash with me without (much) complaint, for being funny and for being thoughtful enough to paint my toenails for me to make me smile when I was laid up with a grade 4 slipped disc and feeling sorry for myself. I'm thanking my mum for being her :)

lexiemac13 · 19/03/2015 16:32

My nan. She's the most inspirational woman in my life. She's always been there for me even though she's been through more heartbreak & illness than any of my family. More recently, she gave my mum a substantial amount of money so that I could learn to drive. I have my own family now and driving lessons are something I have had to put off as financially, I haven't been able to make a commitment to learning. My fiancé works very hard while I look after the children until my son starts school in September, so I guess we probably could have managed to afford it, but I've just always thought I'd rather spend the money on my children or family days out etc. and I'd learn when I went back to work so I wasn't relying on my fiancé. When I found out my nan had left me this money so I could start my lessons I was fighting back the tears. She had helped me so much. I knew I would definitely be able to afford to save up for the remaining lessons after I used the amount she had given me now. I hope one day I can repay my nan as I can't stress how much I appreciate her kind gesture. I managed to get her a very nice hamper for Mother's Day, to show just a little bit of my appreciation.

nanoobaku · 19/03/2015 16:53
