The National Lottery would like to know who you would like to pay tribute to on Mother's Day.

Working with the charity Home-Start, The National Lottery gave one incredible Mum the surprise of a life time to thank her for the difference she’s made to so many.

Watch the video below or click here to watch it.

So we want to ask you, is there someone special that you’d like to thank on Mother’s Day? It may, of course, be your own Mum, it could be an aunt or a neighbour. Whoever it is, we’d love to hear a bit about what made them so special to you Smile.

Everyone who adds their thoughts to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

My mother is a bit of a troubled mess, and poor role model. But, about 20 years ago, I was "adopted" by the family of my then boyfriend. His Mum nursed me through a serious illness, gave me normal family Christmases without alcoholic rages and shouting. When my boyfriend died, she showed incredible dignity and amazing strength. I still feel like their daughter, even though we live hundreds of miles away and see them rarely. My own children have an extra granny. On top of that, she is a mother and grandmother to her remaining family, cared for her elderly mother with compassion and love, raises huge amounts of money for charity and is the kind of woman I wish I could be.

I pay tribute to my mum, who did a great job bringing me and my sister up, I remember lots of bedtime stories, nature walks and cuddles.

sarah861421 · 13/03/2015 20:49

my mum. I just want to say thank you to her for everything

glennamy · 13/03/2015 20:50

Would have to be my neighbour, who has helped me with everything since my health has faltered, she does this out of pure kindness. She is amazing!

Catball33 · 13/03/2015 20:52

My own mum, who has done so much to help me over the years without ever expecting anything in returm

My mother is amazing - she had a traumatic childhood suffering years of horrible abuse by her father. She therefore found it very difficult to be affectionate with my sister and I for many years. I now have 2 DDs and am super affectionate with them. My mother, you see, protected me from the darkness she felt. I didn't feel unloved but just lacked affection and was never told I was loved, but she showed it in other, pratical ways. I shower all my affection on my DDs now and tell them I love them every day. The beautiful thing is my mother has come to terms with her past and is now a much more loving and affectionate mum and nana. I feel no bitterness at all towards her, just love and compassion. That's why she is amazing! :)

My mum, who is amazingly generous, loving and completely selfless. I know she would (and does) do absolutely anything she can to help me, and she is a fantastic grandmother to my own 3 small children. i try hard to tell her how much she means to me, and how lost I would be without her, and I hope I have a similar relationship with my children as they grow up.

My mum so predictable I know but she has been everything to me

littlemartin · 13/03/2015 21:12

My mum is the best. She has stood by me through thick and thin. I was a very troublesome teen and she has loved me unconditionally.

barker99 · 13/03/2015 21:14

I'd like to thank my MIL for babysitting my daughter whenever needed

cher1981 · 13/03/2015 21:17

I love my mum for her quirky ways - her raucous laugh, obsession with wearing bright purple, attempts at acting with the local theatre group, bad singing along to songs from the shows, failed cooking attempts (dont ask about the day she tried making toffee!) all of which make her incomparable and best of all.. shes my mum!

pfcpompeysarah · 13/03/2015 21:18

It would be my mum, she is the first person I turn to, she is my best friend, she is my sounding board, she is a proper mum and cares for her children and grandchildren more than anything, she deserves to win the lottery in my opinion but I can't sort that out!!

maryandbuzz1 · 13/03/2015 21:18

My friend Michele who is always there to listen and support with ideas and help.

Nomio230 · 13/03/2015 21:19

My mum. She raised four children on her own, then went to Uni in her late thirties & got a degree. She now works with children with learning difficulties, a job which is physically and emotionally demanding.

I would like to thank her for teaching me that being a woman means having faith in yourself and never giving up.

pennwood · 13/03/2015 21:36

My daughter Nicola is a wonderful loving foster mum to four sibling children aged under eight years old, plus her own three year old so deserves to be thanked for everything she does. (So if I am lucky enough to win the voucher I know where it will go, & put to good use!)

gamerwidow · 13/03/2015 21:43

My mum she's had such a rough time marriage break ups, early widowhood, cancer (twice), two bouts of brain surgery to fix aneurysms but yet she is still my and my sister's rock.

taz10 · 13/03/2015 21:44

My mum's the best because she has to put up with me all year round

boptanana · 13/03/2015 21:49

My lovely stepmum

dragon60 · 13/03/2015 21:50

I'd just like to recognise all the Mums who help out at playgroups, without you ladies helping they wouldn't happen.

shivbrown · 13/03/2015 21:54

My mum is one special lady she has battled kidney failure for 5 years and still always has a smile on her face and brings us so much joy, She is my best friend and never has a negative word to say about anyone, Never judges people and I think that makes her a very special lady x Very proud to be able to call her my mum, Best friend and soul mate x

Annimousey · 13/03/2015 21:57

My Mother-in-Law. She took me in and nurtured me when she didn't know the first thing about me. My husband (my boyfriend at the time) asked if I could live with them as I didn't have anything where I was living at the time. I was in the height of Anorexia, was agoraphobic and had alot of mental health problems. She took a big risk by taking me in but she loved me as if I were her own daughter and she really supported me. :)

juju3 · 13/03/2015 22:06

My mum - for being the best mum in the world

feeona123 · 13/03/2015 22:37

My mum just because she is always there for me and puts up with my moods!

cheekychicken24 · 13/03/2015 22:41

My Aunt Hazel - she's been amazing ever since I lost my mum, even though technically we're not related any more (she used to be married to mum's brother)

She's always been there for me, helping me pass my driving test by spending a fortune on taxis to and from my house so she could sit in the car with me for me to practice in my old car. I'm getting married in July, and she's giving me her beautiful designer wedding dress - one I could never afford - to wear on the day.

Thanks Aunty H xx

lilmiztam22 · 13/03/2015 22:51

I'd like to thank my amazing mum who is always there for me and has such a kind heart. I'd like to thank her on behalf of all the people she has touched and helped
