After the success of Breaking Bad, Watch With Mumsnet is back with Better Call Saul, a brand new Original series from Netflix.

In this dark comedic prequel to the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad, we meet ambitious small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill six years before he becomes Walter White’s morally challenged attorney, Saul Goodman. We follow as Jimmy (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforms from an optimistic underdog struggling to make ends meet into the notorious legal legend who puts the criminal in 'criminal lawyer'.

With one episode being released on Netflix each week we’d like you to visit the thread at different points throughout the season and let us know your thoughts on what’s going on. We’ll be updating the thread with new topics of discussion surrounding each week’s episode. Episodes will be release every Tuesday only on Netflix. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a Toshiba 40” Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED TV* and 6 month Netflix subscription, a further 5 Mumsnetters will win a Better Call Saul goodybag.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I think it's a promising series, but it needs to find it's own feet and develop it's own identity.

firescorpion · 14/02/2015 22:42

I'm loving Better call Saul , I'm so glad they decided to make a series out of Saul as he was so funny in breaking Bad ! Can't wait for the next episodes :-)

nikki1978 · 14/02/2015 22:43

Watched episode 2 last night. Liking it even more now with the bb feel to it.

andywedge · 14/02/2015 22:45

Never seen this. Sounds it's worth a watch

HelenSw4les · 14/02/2015 22:50

Breaking Bad - I agree it was difficult to get into but once I did, it was awesome!

Don't want to post any spoiler alerts .... just in case.

beckyinman · 14/02/2015 22:52

I can't wait to see how Mike's character develops and am excited about a Jessie Pinkman cameo promised in season 2

mummytime · 14/02/2015 23:04

We're loving it. Really like the choice of colours and filters. The beginning in B and W, the awful colours for the title, and the nasty filter used to make most of it look dated.
Pleased to see Mike. Tucco and his grandmother were great.
Curious to know what else is going on.

supernaan · 14/02/2015 23:19

How can you not love Saul and his quirky sense of humour? Lol it's looking good so far and no point spoiling it for anyone. Just know that there will be some awesome interactions between Saul, Mike and some funny characters. I personally will wait for a few more episodes though since I prefer watching a couple of episodes back-to-back.

Mitonski · 15/02/2015 00:12

Loved breaking bad. Between Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime to cover all the bases, who can afford it all lol!

yokie10 · 15/02/2015 00:45

Be interesting to watch . Hope it will be as entertaining as Breaking bad.

stephgr · 15/02/2015 01:14

Whilst it starts of slowly, find this quite intriguing and as a lawyer I am interested to see how Jimmy develops.

bringans · 15/02/2015 06:50

I did not really like it, but then I never liked breaking bad as well, I gave it a go, just not my thing :(, more of a Banshee/ The Blacklist type person.

muppet150 · 15/02/2015 07:55

ive heard so much about this series. I'm going to have to find time in my busy schedule to watch it. And more so now after reading some of these comments too

sscrase · 15/02/2015 08:05

Not watched It yet. I've got 2 more series of BB to get through before I move onto this one. I do though much prefer to wait until a box set comes out as it's soooooooo frustrating to wait a week between episodes.

ThemisA · 15/02/2015 08:38

There is definitely a Breaking Bad kind of feel to it. The mix between comedy and drama is about right, very American in theme

jeniferjamie · 15/02/2015 08:39

I love it, I was worried that it would never live up to the brilliance of Breaking Bad but the first two episodes I've seen have exceeded my expectations.

Without giving too much away I loved the flashback moments and the editing (seeing it from Sauls perspective at the end of the first ep & the other characters - not giving it away - at the beginning of the 2nd.)

I also like the inclusion of the characters we knew from Breaking Bad. Makes you wonder how their relationship changed to become what it did in BB, which keeps you enticed to watch more and find out!

I also found it ironic how much Saul looked like Walter White at the start of the first episode when he was working in cinnabob (which I assume is present day!)

Thoroughly enjoying it, and looking forward to episode three! :)

Quiero · 15/02/2015 08:52

We loved it. I thought it was beautifully shot and looked great. Both DH and I agreed it looked good within the first 10 minutes.

It gave enough in the first episode to get you hooked and we started watching the second one straight away. (Unfortunately only got through half as the toddler decided to get up.)

Unlike some others on the thread I didn't have huge expectations for the series and actually had assumed it was going to be a half hour sitcom format. I was really pleasantly surprised at how well done it is.

The first thing DH said this morning was "Better Call Saul was good, wasn't it!)

spiroo · 15/02/2015 09:07

I do not have Netflix as the prog look promised and interesting to watch. Time to consider to get Netflix in my house.

janeyf1 · 15/02/2015 09:52

Am hooked on Better Call Saul - worth the Netflix subscription alone

alssky · 15/02/2015 10:00

An exciting ending- I thought his plan would backfire. Looking forward to next week!

Lucy2610 · 15/02/2015 10:57

Watched the first one earlier in the week and watching the second tonight. Love how all the Breaking Bad characters are re-appearing. Slow start but then so was BB and love the humour so happy to watch. Kids would be v happy with new tv so here's hoping Wink

leannemoore · 15/02/2015 11:25

Killmenow
I'm hooked already

MagersfonteinLugg · 15/02/2015 11:32

Can someone please put me out of my misery. What is the song/music playing whilst saul is in the bar with that woman and the man with the breadsticks?
Have tried to find out online but getting nowhere.
It's driving me mad. Help.

clairenutman · 15/02/2015 11:43

I was completely obsessed with breaking bad, I thought it was the best series out in a long time, the acting was top class and the dark humour was right up my street, I don't have Netflix but am looking forward to watching this new series, I have high hopes!!

hannonle · 15/02/2015 12:20

I'm sad because I can't watch this, or Breaking Bad :((
From what I hear, they are both 'must watch tv'
