Dh bringing me a cup of tea before he goes to work and he leaves earlier than me so I realise I have half an hour in bed to drink it Smile

My mini moment of happiness... Is being with my daughter and going to places that I loved as a child and getting to relive it all through her eyes.

Getting an "I love you, Mummy" from one of them in a quiet moment at home, or yesterday driving down the M1 having the three of them (including DS (9)) singing happily along to the Frozen Soundtrack, it made a wonderful change to the usual refereeing that I usually have to do 2 hours into the journey.

The gifts they give, last Mothers Day, DDs (aged 6 and 4) made me my first ever child made breakfast in bed, cold dry toast and a banana and for Christmas one of the girls wrapped up 22p for me and the other wrapped up her favourite shell, both gifts from the heart.

My toddler DS has got into the habit of saying a very dramatic "Oh noooo!" and unimportant things. It's very cute.

The look on my 2yr old dc's face when I pick him up from pre school. Such adoration and love for me

my ds 13 months shouting for daddy at 6 o'clock on a Sunday morning Grin

Moment of happiness 1: seeing the world through dd1's eyes on a visit to the aquarium. The pure wonder and excitement of every exhibit was enthralling.
Moment of happiness 2: cuddling dd2 on the sofa as she fell asleep and drinking in every bit of her.
Moment of happiness 3: when both dds are asleep and I can settle on the sofa and relish the silence!

My best mini moment of happiness happened when my DS was 3 and DD was about 8 months old and crawling. DS was lying flat on the floor reading a book when DD crawled over to him and planted a big kiss on his forehead. DS looked at me with his eyes shining with happiness and said, "Oh Mummy - she loves me!". Regular mini moments of happiness are when we all sit down for a long chatty meal together or stroll along the beach or through the park.

Took my girl for a walk on Friday and all of a sudden she looks up and says Mummy that tree has had a haircut. I hadn't noticed but the trees near our house have been cut.
So cute and I just couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day.

When my 5 year old spontaneously tells me that she loves me at the most random moments.

My 2 year old stroking my hand as she lies in my arms drinking her bedtime bottle

A 'mini-moment of happiness' story? One of my most pleasant memory from primary school ... I was 6 years old, all the children were out in the playground when it started snowing very heavily. We all went chasing the snowflakes in wonder and excitement, some children already attempting to collect the snow for mini snowballs. After a while the snow got so heavy, that the 2 mid-day supervisors on duty decided that all the children should go indoors. After initial groans from many of the children, we all accepted our fate and lined up at the entrance. However, the door was locked, and nobody in Reception was responding to the door buzzer. This meant that we all stood in line waiting, freezing our socks off. One of the mid-day supervisors decided to go around the school grounds and enter the school from the back. After what seemed like ages, the door was finally opened, and all the children were let in. Coincidently, it was our year groups turn for dinner. For desert, we were given steaming hot AMBROSIA rice pudding (I still remember the logo on the cans), served with milk chocolate curls. And due to us being turned to popsicles while waiting outside, we were offered unlimited servings!!! I had 3 bowls, my friend had 5! Brilliant!!!

:)

The other night, my 13 year old DD was sneaking through my bedroom to use the en-suite (still not sure why, as she had to walk past a bathroom to get from her room to mine) when I woke up. I asked her what she was up to and she came and gave me a lovely hug before going on her way. Seeming as during daylight hours I sometimes think she hates me, this was a lovely mini moment of happiness.
:)

DH leaves for work before I get up and I have a lovely mini moment in the mornings when I get to stretch out star-shaped in our bed for a few minutes before getting up.

Follow-on from the previously uploaded post (see above - Mon 26-Jan-15 20:15:20)

--> I re-live this experience (sort-of) by serving steaming hot AMBROSIA rice pudding, with milk chocolate curls, for tea on a cold day like today - it is enjoyed in front of the roaring hearth by the whole family ... our own 'mini-moment of happiness' !!!

thewomaninwhite · 26/01/2015 21:56

Small things. The time in the morning when I am up but no one else is. Bliss (temporarily)! Sunsets and sunrises. The lovely cute things that the DC say.

Waitingonasunnyday · 26/01/2015 22:01

Ye gods we've all gone twee on this thread!

Mine is only three letters: GIN

HawkeyeInChaos · 26/01/2015 22:18

When dd(4) tells me she loves me.
When ds(1.5) falls asleep in my arms, with his head in that perfect resting place between my shoulder and neck.

The mini-moment of happiness I dream of is cuddling them both at the same time without them squabbling over me.

Kathderoet · 26/01/2015 22:27

A winning scratchcard.. A completed pile of ironing... A stain coming out a white school shirt which I never thought I would shift... The kids eating their tea and saying "that was great Mum" - My how my standards have failed in recent years, I used to dream big!

clopper · 26/01/2015 22:30

Mine is when I get on the scales at my slimming group when I've had a loss, even a small loss. It's like a little buzz inside. When I get home, the kids all are very encouraging with a 'well done mum'. These are my other little moments of happiness: getting into crisp clean sheets, wearing new socks and and putting on my slipper boots and joggers as soon as I get home from work.

DifferentNow · 26/01/2015 23:36

Yesterday, when I heard my little girl say her own name for the first time. It sounded so funny, my face hurt from smiling so much.

What made it extra special was how excited DH was that he'd been the first one to hear because he misses so many 'firsts'.

Hopezibah · 26/01/2015 23:50

My mini moments of happiness at the moment have to be the little things my daughter says that make me giggle so much.

She discovered she had velcro on her coat sleeve the other day and started opening and closing the velcro. 'Looks like you've found your velcro' I tell her. She responds like this 'looks like I found my velcro. Now tell me what does that mean'.

nerysw · 27/01/2015 06:31

It's when my kids do something lovely or funny. Yesterday a woman stopped me in the supermarket to try and flog me one of their credit cards. My 3 year old was in the trolley and reached out for my hand and snuggled it against his face which was very sweet. He spent the half hour after that telling me I had seagull poo on my hand and laughing hysterically. Not as cute but very entertaining.

Purplehonesty · 27/01/2015 06:47

In the car yesterday ds (5) said to me "mum I love you over the rainbow" and not to be left out dd(2) said "mum I love you like a tree"
They made me smile all the way home.

MakeTeaNotWar · 27/01/2015 07:07

An uninterrupted poo! A hot cup of tea, spontaneous cuddles with the kids and DH and the bus arriving as soon as I get to the bus stop
