The Christmas festivities are now over, which means it’s time for New Year’s resolutions, re-evaluating our finances and staying in on those long, cold nights. But it doesn’t all need to be doom and gloom… it’s also the perfect time for you and your family to escape with a film, or get stuck into a new TV show – and Netflix has plenty to choose from!

We want to know what you’ll be watching on Netflix to beat the winter blues. Are you enjoying the quirky police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Perhaps you’re catching up on House of Cards in preparation for season 3 in February? Maybe you’ll be indulging in an episode of Breaking Bad?

We’d also like to know what, if anything, your kids love watching on Netflix. Are the little ones obsessed with Spongebob Squarepants? Do they wind down before bed with a Disney film like Toy Story 3 or Brave? Or maybe your teenager is hooked on Gossip Girl? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear about it!

Tell us how your family will be using Netflix to beat the winter blues, and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an Xbox One* and a 6 months subscription to Netflix!

Thanks

MNHQ

My lot are a bunch of geeks, they love Doctor Who or pretty much anything with cars, trains or spaceships in! They give a running commentary of all the plot holes, factual inaccuracies and tech specs in the films too...

adarkwhisperinthewoodwasheard · 12/01/2015 16:36

Have got through most of it so catching up with period dramas like The Tudors. Giving Marco Polo a go and the original Killing. When it's just me I go for It's Always Sunny... and Brooklyn 99. DS loves the old films too!

ChutesTooNarrow · 12/01/2015 17:20

We are watching Archer at the moment, it's brilliant. I also have a rewatch of Arrested Development planned.

TooMuchCantBreathe · 12/01/2015 17:20

We've used Netflix lots as a family and individually. Favourites are buffy the vampire slayer, lots of the older family movies and so on. It's a shame choice is so limited though, we looked when we were in America and were shocked at the difference.

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 12/01/2015 17:22

Once Upon a Time and Pretty Little Liars on US Netflix. Love them!

webjunkie · 12/01/2015 17:57

American Horror Story and Orange is the New Black are fabulous! Please make series three of the latter!

LightastheBreeze · 12/01/2015 18:14

I'm going to give Marco Polo a try and am really looking forward to House of cards 3. Also will look at The Killing

WowOoo · 12/01/2015 18:20

I would really love to watch Breaking Bad. I've heard so much about it.
I'd like to try Orange is the new Black too.

Chandon · 12/01/2015 18:35

Looking forward to house of cards.

Am showing the kids (young teens) some of the classics like "mission impossible" and "top gun"

I am going through the entire series of House whendoing the ironing. Love ironing now!

Sadly I don't like Orange is the new black.

500Decibels · 12/01/2015 18:36

We re still watching Breaking Bad. We re on the last series now. I watch Gossip Girl here and there to keep me company when I'm doing some really boring chores.
The kids love Horrid Henry and watch a film here and there. Sometimes, I let them get cosy in bed and watch a film in the tablet.
We ve got a list of series we d like to watch - House of cards, Orange is the new black and American Horror Story.

catbus · 12/01/2015 19:01

The kids tend to have monopoly on Netflix- 4yo DS loves Mia and Me, Pop Pixie and Lego friends. 7yo DS loves Ninjago, and anything Lego on there. 11 yo DD likes Adventure Time and think series 4 has been added but both DDs waiting for new ones..
15 yo DD loves American Horror Story. I actually got a look in last night and watched old Fawlty Towers, some bizarre comedy film and Drop Dead Fred..
An xbox would mean I could expand my perusal of Netflix, as our family of six doesn't have enough devices to suit Grin

SlicedAndDiced · 12/01/2015 19:12

Constantine
Prison break
Grey's anatomy
Firefly
Under the dome
Ripper street
The walking dead

DD1 Will be watching Elmo in grouchland and the Wallace and grommet episodes over and over and over again Grin

SlicedAndDiced · 12/01/2015 19:20

Oops how embarrassing I just listed the amazon video ones [shame]

On Netflix it will be:

Hermlock grove
orange is the new black
arrested development
house of cards
peep show

And dd1 will still be watching elmo in grouchland and Wallace and grommet: curse of the wererabbit over and over and over again.

SlicedAndDiced · 12/01/2015 19:21

Why does my computer keep changing grommit to grommet?

iwasyoungonce · 12/01/2015 19:23

I'm going to give Orange is the New Black a go, and House of Cards.

Nothing has topped Breaking Bad for me. It has left a void in my life! Grin

Taffeta · 12/01/2015 19:48

Breaking Bad for us, and House of Cards.
DC films and Ever After High. Lots of family films, January is THE best month for this!

chicaguapa · 12/01/2015 19:53

Love Netflix. DC watch endless repeats of Dr Who and SpongeBob. DD and I have just started watching Pretty Little Liars which was recommended by an American friend. It only 'arrived' on Netflix on 1 January so we can't help but feel ahead of the curve. Grin DH is watching Black Mirror.

catbus · 12/01/2015 19:57

Oo yes, I do look forward to a sesh of Black Mirror, actually. Smile

lilyloo · 12/01/2015 20:06

My dds love Netflix , I am on my first month after my free trial. Dd2 loves ever after high and dd1 I carly.
I am hoping to start Breaking Bad. Not sure whether we watch enough yet to keep up the subscription though.

ReverseTheTrend · 12/01/2015 20:06

We watch Netflix more than anything else in our house

I had a house addiction (irony) but now have finished and moved onto pretty little liars

DH loves Grimm, sons of anarchy and is desperate for next series of American horror story

Together we watch the Tudors, breaking bad and house of cards

Mrsfluff · 12/01/2015 20:30

I've just started the second season of Lilyhammer and I'm really enjoying it. Have seen most of the films already, but do enjoy watching the various series on there.

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/01/2015 20:50

We're waiting for DH to have a couple of weeks of late shifts so we can binge watch Pretty Little Liars.
:)

TaytoCrisp · 12/01/2015 21:38

Can't wait for the next house of cards! Loved Orange is the new black too, and watched breaking bad last year. My 4 year old loves the classic Disney movies - we all watched Cinderella (1952) on Xmas eve.

TaytoCrisp · 12/01/2015 21:40

Should add - Dd (4) is a very keen strawberry shortcake fan!

sanfairyanne · 12/01/2015 21:50

just working our way through the box sets Smile
