With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

My son and I will be watching any and every cheesy Christmas movie we can find!

Elfhame · 03/12/2014 08:30

We watch Netflix on the main TV. I have noticed Brave is is in the Kids section and will be watching it with DD, mainly because I haven't seen it! We are intending on binge watching Horrible Histories too.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 03/12/2014 08:36

We watch it through our wii. It usually starts with an argument of whose name to go on as DS3 likes it to be him!
DS3 uses it on his PS3 and DH can often be found hiding in the bedroom watching it on DS1's tablet.

We'll be watching a mix of films depending on which of our children is around. If all 4 are there it will be a cheesy Christmas film but not It's a Wonderful Life (my favourite and I always cry) as they say they can act it out now!

As I'm going to be spending a whole week with my family, I can imagine there'll be times when I want to disappear off on my own and watch an episode of something funny to keep me sane. Netflix on my iPad will be perfect for that! Grin

Just dh and me this Christmas so we are going to snuggle down on the sofa under a blanket to watch back to back series. Total bliss.

DJASKEW · 03/12/2014 09:06

Netflix is great for keeping the children entertained, I put on traditional Christmas movies for them, it builds a sense of magic and keeps them away from the commercialism and advertising on the TV. We also watch some movies together as a family, Netflix is great for spontaneity.

clairenutman · 03/12/2014 09:07

We will be settling down in the evenings to watch some of those classic family movies, getting in the snacks and ice cream and hanging out together , cant wait x

theno1dj · 03/12/2014 09:33

Will use it to the kids films on the big TV in the kitchen, so we can watch important stuff like the Eastenders :-)

JoJoBaldwin · 03/12/2014 09:43

We have netflix on the TV through the wii, and also on a tablet. Great for family film nights, but also for DD (6) to watch a movie when there is something me and hubby want to watch. We have resisted getting her a TV in her roombut this is a great compromise!

KittyKat88 · 03/12/2014 09:48

I can't wait to watch all the family films on netflix content - my DDs love anything to do with Disney and Mickey Mouse!

cazzzie987 · 03/12/2014 09:48

Lots of Christmas films and tv shows in the living room with us all together.

zoemaguire · 03/12/2014 09:50

We have a family film night every friday. Blankets, hot chocolate, popcorn and fire. Great to always have new stuff to watch!

sassy165 · 03/12/2014 10:02

We will be watching Netflix on Christmas Day while we digest our dinner.

acyawn · 03/12/2014 10:04

Our netflix gets used on my ipod touch anywhere in the house and then thrown over to TV when it is free using my chromecast.

lizd31 · 03/12/2014 10:07

I don't subscribe to Netflix which is why I'd love to win this prize

Liquorice13 · 03/12/2014 10:07

We will watch Netflix on the Smart TV downstairs, the iPad in the bedroom and our daughter will watch it on the Xbox, it will be a mix of Christmas movies, childrens films and action/thriller movies.

twinklenic · 03/12/2014 10:22

they have added some new christmas films so we'll be watching them over christmas

rutsan · 03/12/2014 10:27

I watch Netflix on my laptop the kids watch on their tablets, and every sat night we all watch it onb the telly through the PS3 :)

hiddenmichelle · 03/12/2014 10:28

For some Christmassy films on the lead up to Christmas with the kids once they finish school - we actually try to avoid the tv christmas day and play daft games!

hyperhops · 03/12/2014 10:33

we love Netflix here. DD1 watches LOTS of films on her laptop. together we watch various things via the wii on our tv. especially like a nice family movie on a saturday night. Will be picking out all the Christmas films to watch in the run up to Christmas. Only downside for us is that our internet speed is soooo slow it can't cope with more than one person watching it a t time. boo.

deb1966 · 03/12/2014 11:03

We will all settle in the living room to watch xmas films, the boys watch the kids stuff on their tablets, i have the films i like on my Ipad whilst im in the kitchen

MillyVanilli222 · 03/12/2014 11:05

I'm hoping to get a smart TV in the sales, but for Christmas it'll be watching via the XBox on our normal telly as a family.

Cambam2010 · 03/12/2014 11:08

I don't have Netflix but if I did I would use it to record lots of childrens Christmas films for my son to watch on the long journey we have to make to Scotland.

southernsun · 03/12/2014 11:14

Christmas films are my favourite! Its just a shame I only get to watch them for a couple of months a year. Therefore we shall be enjoying some festive film marathons over the coming weeks.
