With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

DH and I watch netflix most evenings when in bed. We've gone through several series on it (House of Cards and Orange is the new black being two of our favourites) but DD also loves the kids programmes, particularly the one about Daniel the Tiger! It's great to cuddle up in bed around the laptop to have supper in front of something fun altogether as a family, or to use with breakfast having a lie in. It's also handy to set up the app on the i pad so that DD can watch something suitable with headphones when we are out somewhere with Wi Fi. We have also been known to use it in hotels when we don't want to pay for extortionate pay per view blockbuster films! We've made good use of it over the holidays, and are planning to start a new series of Arrow tomorrow evening once DD is in bed. It's a great way to unwind (and saves us having to worry about buying the next DVD box set when we've finished one series and are ready for the next!). I'm also looking forward to utilising it when I begin maternity leave in 5 weeks time - I'm sure I'll have a lot of time to spare to catch up with TV!!!

We had a New Year's Day party to celebrate with all our friends and their kids. While the parents congregated around the punch bowl, the kids had a blast watching films on Netflix and munching popcorn. Even with 12 kids in the house, it still felt like a pretty civilised party!
Thanks!
