With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

This festive period netflik are watched on my laptop while the kids watch their favorite film on the xbox.
I also cosy up with my laptop on the long nights while my hubby is working :D it means i can watch what i want instead of the constant kiddy cartoons and films.
I was currently watching a filmuntil this email popped up in my inbox :D

nothing better then chilling out once kids are in bed with a large glass of red wine and something festive or favourite film on the screen :D

Netflix is awesome. We are away on holiday for Christmas and only have 5 channels. But we have our computer and Netflix to watch the things we love and keep my 11yr old occupied! Thank you Netflix!

lollypopsicle · 22/12/2014 16:52

We watched xmas films on Netflix at the start of December to get us in the mood. I also plan to watch copious amounts of Dexter on Netflix to curb my disappointment of the crap christmas night TV choices.

catwomanga · 22/12/2014 17:07

We wish you a telly Christmas and a Netflix New Year!
We have Netflix on internet TV. DS has a bit of a Doctor Who obsession at the moment so we'll all watch Christmas special.
I've added to the Netflix wishlist a load of 'comfort TV' good for kids but not too painful for adults nursing hangovers. We like the oldies like Holes and Overboard.

After kids went to bed, I watched Joss Whedon's 'In Your Eyes' last night while getting stuck into a mountain of Christmas ironing. Can definitely recommend it. The film, not the ironing.

my girls love the Disney Christmas specials and the muppet Christmas carol. Netflix has done a brilliant job of bringing Christmas spirit into our house while builders have been round

CathyGlynn · 22/12/2014 18:36

There is nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa at Christmas with a good movie. Life is so hectic all year it's the only time we are altogether. Netflix is my daughters favourite as she can watch things she wants without having to wait for them to on TV, armed with her iPad she will sit peacefully for a while at least

RedKites · 22/12/2014 18:43

I'd like to use Netflix to watch some Christmassy films though suspect we'll end up watching old-but-modern-era episodes of Dr Who instead...

marymanc · 22/12/2014 18:46

We watch Netflix with our Virgin Media box. I love spending Christmas eating and watching TV in particular new and old movies and I am really looking forward to sit down as a family and watch something all together..

Missymjf · 22/12/2014 18:49

We watch Netflix on our smart tv via our xbox one. If I'm feeling extra specially lazy I stream from my ipad from the comfort of my warm cozy bed... essential when the hubby's on night shifts. At the moment I'm finishing off watching breaking bad. kids are in their element with the movies.

Ramblings · 22/12/2014 19:01

I'm loving House on Netflix and the children are looking forward to trying the King Julian cartoon out shortly.

busymummy3 · 22/12/2014 19:07

We love Netflix and sure we will be watching it a lot over Christmas to supplement the lack of choice and inevitable repeats on main Tv channels over Christmas.
It is great because kids can watch it on their PS4 and ipad on a morning in bed if they wake early means we get a bit of a lie in !
My youngest DD would live the Ipad Mini if we are lucky enough to win !

sjonlegs · 22/12/2014 19:25

Santa ... please consider me for a bit of good luck, a soupcon of happiness and a bit less stress and trauma ... oh and the kids/hubby would love Netflix! Thanks x

bettysdad · 22/12/2014 19:42

I put yo gabba gabba on for betty although I kinda put it on for myself. makes a change from in the night garden. Also watch a series with the wife when she's gone to bed currently Marco polo.

Khaly · 22/12/2014 20:05

My Dad recently got a free month of Netflix with a Virgin Media Cable deal and he said he will activate it when the family gets together at Christmas. We love watching films together, looking forward to seeing the choice available.

shortbreadsharon · 22/12/2014 20:07

to keep kids occupied while i hide/wrap the presents and then later to cosy up and watch films as a family.

TinBoxTraveller · 22/12/2014 20:18

Once I've waved goodbye to our visitors and put the Tot to bed, I'll be snuggling up with my husband on the sofa and watching Netflix on our smart TV. There's only so much Christmas telly you can watch and we love revisiting some of our favourite classic movies.

HappySunflower · 22/12/2014 20:36

I am about to settle down and watch netflix whilst wrapping Christmas presents :)

Beanbag55 · 22/12/2014 21:12

I must be the only person who has not watched FROZEN so our family will watch via our smart TV so excited.

TenaciousOne · 22/12/2014 21:59

We'll probably watch something on the TV before bed on Christmas Eve and then not again until Boxing Day.

We use Netflix mainly on the TV, we have the app on the iPad and Kindle Fire but have never used it as far as I can remember.

MamaMummyMum · 22/12/2014 22:17

This is actually my first month using Netflix. We have it set up to play on our xboxes and my husbands phone. We moved into our home a week ago and decided to not have sky tv reinstalled but to have a go with Netflix instead and so far we're impressed. We'll be using it over the festive period to snuggle up with the kids infront of the TV watching festive films and cartoons as well as a few good comedies. total bliss.

liamell · 22/12/2014 22:46

The children love Netflix. Mainly my DS who is two, and he has mastered my iPhone and takes himself straight to Sid the Science Kid. (A lifesaver might I add as this helps me stay in bed for an extra 20 mins whilst the heating kicks in)

ladygoingGaga · 22/12/2014 22:52

My son watches Netflix in his playroom, on the beanbags, usually watching WWE wrestling via his WiiU and YouTube.

I have Netflix on the tablet, when I can wrestle it off everyone else, I will be using it to catch up on special episodes and christmas soppy films no one else wants to watch

bampot · 22/12/2014 23:10

In our house, everyone watches Netflix, me on my smart tv in living room, my daughter (no 1) on her laptop, daughter (no 2) on her tablet, my son on the desktop computer and dad on his ipad. As we can only watch on 2 screens at once they are always trying to get someone to pause or stop what they are watching so they can get on. Funny at times.

Orla1 · 23/12/2014 01:27

We watch Netflix via the smart blu ray in conjunction with the tv.. DD and I have already been using Netflix to watch some family movies in the dark evenings, and as for me, I hope to finish Sons of Anarchy season 5 over the next few days of quiet time.

LauraCrean · 23/12/2014 08:41

We watch Netflix more than Sky at the moment. I am a single Mum and I have 3 daughters aged 10, 16 and 18. My youngest watches Netflix on her tablet. My middle daughter on her ipod. My eledst on her laptop and we all watch it together through the xbox in the living room - we love it.
