We've been asked by Ready brek to find out about MNers' best porridge based recipes and healthy breakfast creations

Ready brek says "Coinciding with the launch of Ready brek's 'easy sachets' collection, we'd love to hear about how MNers customise their porridge. In tasty Original and delicious Chocolate and Gingerbread flavours, and made only from finely milled oats, vitamins and minerals, this hot oat cereal delivers all the benefits of an adult porridge, but without the lumps. Easy to make in the microwave or with hot milk this kids' porridge gives your children a tasty warming start to the day. But the Ready brek oats can be used for so much more than just porridge. One look at the Ready brek and Weetabix website shows just how versatile these oats can be. From Ready brek breakfast muffins, to 'ginger-brek men', there's hundreds of ways you can make your cereal go further."

So, how do you customise your porridge or Ready brek? Maybe you add some bananas? Or do you prefer to add blueberries or raspberries? Perhaps honey is your usual addition? Whatever you add to your porridge, Ready brek would love to hear about how you keep breakfast time fun and healthy.

If you don't usually have porridge for breakfast, do you have any porridge based recipes? Perhaps you like to add porridge oats when you're baking cookies? Or maybe you'd rather use your porridge oats for flapjacks? Let Ready brek know what your favourite porridge based recipes are.

Every MNer who posts on this thread will go into a prize draw to win £250 from Ready brek and Weetabix.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Manuka Honey and sometimes Banana.

My dad's gooseberry jam (it's runny, but gorgeous!).
I'm thinking that, with the gingerbread Ready Brek (which I've never seen) might be delicious.

We add maple syrup to regular porridge.

I add raw oats to Oatiflakes to make it even healthier along with nuts and seeds.

aussiegeckogirl · 19/09/2014 15:53

DifferentNow · 19/09/2014 15:54

I love porridge and me and my DC's eat it in the most unhealthy way possible as a treat. I make it with whole milk and golden syrup topped with demerara sugar and cream! Sunday morning indulgence.

rupert23 · 19/09/2014 17:57

i like raisins but the kids love jam

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2014 18:36

Grated apple and a pinch of cinnamon

cistolic · 19/09/2014 19:22

When my grandchildren stay I put a couple of spoons full of stewed fruit on their porridge but i naughtily have golden syrup the same as my mother gave me when I was little.

womblelancs · 19/09/2014 19:54

I like to add raisins or sultanas. I once tried adding sliced banana, but I didn't like that much. I'd never thought of adding crystallised ginger, that sounds gorgeous!

kel1981 · 19/09/2014 20:16

it's not healthy but I add choc chips!

elerismum · 19/09/2014 20:30

A sprinkle of sugar and then either a small handful of rice krispies or corn flakes.

MaryWestmacott · 19/09/2014 20:32

Blueberries and chopped banana - I used to add maple syrup but I trained myself out of wanting the super sweet option.

kthwaitey · 19/09/2014 20:47

chopped banana and a drizzle of golden syrup

keeleyatkinson1986 · 19/09/2014 21:12

Coffeechick · 19/09/2014 21:40

I add different things on different days so either honey, or banana or blueberries and flaxseed.

Jinty16 · 19/09/2014 22:06

I add honey to my porridge. The kids have raisins and banana in theirs.
