To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

"You are share-savvy" :) I can't stop my children from becoming social aware as in today's society, social media is everywhere, work, home, tv, even education. It is important to keep the family up to date with new technology and advancement in software etc. However, it is equally important to teach the younger generation how to use the internet sensibly and in return learn to use it as a 'normal' tool for communication, education and awareness.

share savvy!!!

pleased to hear it! though surprised. probably because Im enthusiastic and wary at the same time.

annanh · 30/08/2014 16:17

I'm share-savvy which I'm pretty happy with - reassuring

littlemisstrivia · 30/08/2014 21:38

I am share-y wary. Hmmm, wouldn't have said I was anxious about using social media, I just don't want to share every last detail with the world.

ktandspen · 30/08/2014 21:56

Share-savvy (PHEW!!)

I love to share to an extent, but if I wouldnt show the milkman, I won't put it on the net!

IRIELADY · 30/08/2014 23:14

You are share-y wary! I prefer to live in the real world despite working in IT

funkyfreks · 30/08/2014 23:48

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids.

Kinda on the ball... though don't get the whole Twitter thing. Have your cake but don't tweet about every bite of it Cake

I got 'off the grid' which is totally not me!
Admittedly we do only have one computer and the children dont have smart phones, but that's more because they aren't old enough than anything else!

Not sure I qualify as "up to the minute" on any aspect of my life ;-)

I am wary of what I share, but that's not because I'm up-to-the-minute with my knowledge, it's more the opposite that I doubt that I'm up to date enough so I'm more cautious.

mydaftlass · 01/09/2014 00:15

Share-wary apparently.
I think I'm quite savvy. I don't need help. I just choose not to share more.

share-savvy

I am keen that I don't get left behind in the age of social media and like to keep up to speed so when my children are teens I have some idea of how to give them appropriate guidance!

ataraxia · 01/09/2014 19:33

"You are share-savvy" - sounds about right, I try to find that balance between sharing and safety

lottietiger · 01/09/2014 22:01

Share savvy
Probably about right. I use facebook to post pics of my son for my family to see and browse but that's about it. I do nt use twitter or Instagram or all the other stuff.

IsabellaRockerfeller · 01/09/2014 22:13

Off the grid!

" Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line " - Oh I am so behind the times!!

defineme · 02/09/2014 07:52

I am share y wary which is true... I do enjoy social media, but I have just been on holiday and there were parents having to drag kids away from their phones to come in the pool and at night I saw groups of adults all on their phones at restaurant tables- I am very wary of that happening to my family.

MichelleMumsnet · 02/09/2014 09:03

Thanks to everyone who commented. Congrats to Tonkatol who won the prize draw for a £250 John Lewis voucher!
