To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

Apparently I'm share-savvy which sounds about right. I post online so does my daughter but don't go into detail. Nice to add the odd birthday pic or if I've won a competition. Don't have to post every day but do like to keep up with what friends and family are up to ??

monkeyplastic · 24/08/2014 17:40

I'm share-y wary, I'm not surprised!

Coffeechick · 24/08/2014 17:44

I'm share savvy. Which is great I don't mind sharing a few things but don't like to put my entire life up online.

chrin · 24/08/2014 19:06

I'm a sharey wary

GetKnitted · 24/08/2014 19:44

sharey wary, probably true!

Scrounger · 24/08/2014 20:16

You are off the grid

Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line.

I'm actually quite proud of that result.

ShebaQueen · 24/08/2014 20:16

I'm share-y wary - spot on actually, I have a backboard in the kitchen and I'm not on Facebook!

mummybare · 24/08/2014 20:24

"You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids."

Sounds about right to me. A lot of it's hypothetical, mind you, as DD is only 2 Grin

littleducks · 24/08/2014 22:00

I'm share-y wary.

Pretty accurate. I do have Facebook but under a pseudonym and my kids are on the no photos to be posted online list at school.

ckkj · 24/08/2014 22:52

my dc is too young at the moment to be on social media (19 months)

I tend to go through phases if sharing pics on Facebook and when I do I have them as friends only and the ones of my dc have a watermark on them that say:

"personal picture
not for public, general or personal use
please do not share or download"

halestone · 25/08/2014 06:24

i got off the grid, which i was surprised at as i do share some pictures of Dd online but only very rarely. Although i do never put personal details on facebook or twitter as i think that some things in life need to remain private.

nooka · 25/08/2014 06:52

I had a few questions where none of the answers really fit - for example I've not taken a photo at all of either of my children on their first day at secondary. Schools where I live don't have uniforms so they didn't look any different from the day before really. So I answered once with one set of answers that almost fit and then again with the other almost fit. One got share-savvy and the other got off the grid. Given that I use a fair bit of social media (carefully!) and dh thinks I'm a luddite that's probably fairly accurate!

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 25/08/2014 08:50

Share savvy apparently....
I use the net including face book, mainly to keep in touch with friends we don't see Smile

Kathderoet · 25/08/2014 10:44

Share-Savvy which is probably about right, apart from valuing my privacy I don't want to bore everyone to tears with endless family photos!

teddygirlonce · 25/08/2014 11:46

Off the grid and like to stay that way really! There is much more to life than technology! :-)

kslatts · 25/08/2014 12:00

Share-savvy

Beastofburden · 25/08/2014 12:07

Have all these share-savvy and off the grid folks just given Vodafone a whole lot of new marketing data? Just asking Grin

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 25/08/2014 12:12

I assume that is the point of the sponsored discussions. Quite a cheap way of gathering info really, but the temptation of the prize is too much to resist...

Beastofburden · 25/08/2014 12:14

I know, it was just the irony Grin

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 25/08/2014 12:17

I realised that after posting (bit slow today, must have more coffee).

BellaVida · 25/08/2014 12:18

"Share-y wary" but that's no surprise. It's not that I am not savvy, but I make a choice not to use social media to share certain kinds of information and am cautious of the impact it can have on myself and my family.

selloveday · 25/08/2014 13:05

You are share-y wary

I actually think this is a good thing as I don't believe you need to share every intimate detail of your life with the wider world.

wooohooo · 25/08/2014 13:56

You are share-savvy

IAmAPaleontologist · 25/08/2014 14:34

I'm "off the grid"

Which is probably true.

Wall planner in the kitchen rather than smart phone diary type things that neither dh nor I would understand.

1 laptop which the dcs don't really use.

NEver use whataninstagramsnapchatappthingy.

I use FB quite a lot though. FB or landline as mobile signal is shit around here.

I dare say things will change as dcs get older though.

nooka · 25/08/2014 15:51

Beastofburden the quiz didn't have anything more than six or seven tick boxes, with no personal information required. I'm not sure that any of the data from the quiz will hugely advantage Vodophone.
