To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

Forgot to add my security/sharing settings are limited to the max, and monitored regularly.

Lindy2 · 15/08/2014 18:43

Share-savey.
I'm happy with that.

Dwerf · 15/08/2014 18:43

A Sharey-Mary, though I'm not entirely convinced.

superbagpuss · 15/08/2014 18:44

sharey warey

not really warey, I understand about the internet, just don't want my young children to have access or be named/ photos on Fb

KatherinaMinola · 15/08/2014 18:44

Off the grid for me too. Again, quite funny considering how much time I spend online. But I don't do Facebook etc.

Quite happy about that - I have no desire to change.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 15/08/2014 19:00

I'm share-savvy. I think that's fairly accurate. I like to post online, but I think about what I'm posting first and who is going to see it.

Nerf · 15/08/2014 19:06

Ooooooh I'm share savvy. Happy with that. I tend to assume all is well but I do know more than the smaller ones so can check history etc every so often.
Necessary evil, innit.

ancientbuchanan · 15/08/2014 19:17

Somewhere around shary-wary but mainly because I cannot persuade my family that if I send something to them they may not put pressure on me to share more widely. I like complete and control. DSis does not get this.

DifferentNow · 15/08/2014 19:21

"You are share-y wary

You find the whole world of social media a bit anxiety-inducing - and need help knowing where to dive in."

BigglesFliesUndone · 15/08/2014 19:23

Share-savvy Grin. Probably because I am an 'older' parent and my mum thinks 'online' is hanging the washing out...

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 15/08/2014 19:28

You are share-savvy!

May be! I don't even have a smart phone!

SpottyTits · 15/08/2014 19:31

What is your sharenting style?
You are off the grid

Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line.

More like too afraid of appearing a twat!

EvilHerbivore · 15/08/2014 19:34

I got "off the grid" - not true at all, I'm online (internet shopping at mn-ing mainly!) and text loads, its just I'm private and hate the idea of Instagram/WhatsApp/facebook-ing a fake life, I'd rather speak to my actual friends about what's actually going on rather than a fully made up, photoshopped selfie with 3 million strangers...

LittleBallOfFur · 15/08/2014 19:41

"You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids."

Sounds about right. Children are still pre schoolers at the mo but I hope to keep them safe from over sharing via social media.

Smize · 15/08/2014 19:43

I'm share savvy. I post the odd photo from special occasions on Facebook but try not to live my life on there and regularly check my privacy controls. My children are under 5 just now so no real issues with their tech use but I do worry about how they'll use social media etc as they grow up. Things are moving so quickly that they'll be much more tech savvy than me and their dad. I just hope they'll listen to advice not to over share online and won't dismiss us as out-of-touch old gimmersSmile.

HotPinkWeaselWearingLederhosen · 15/08/2014 19:46

I'm share savvy. Hah, apart from my Mnet habit.

Suddengeekgirl · 15/08/2014 19:48

I'm share-savvy

Which is probably fairly accurate. Although my dcs are both under 5 so this will all change as they get bigger and I get older

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/08/2014 19:50

I'm "share-savvy". DD is only 4 though, but I am pretty confident with tech so hopefully I can indoctrinate her to be share ssavvy too...

fuzzpig · 15/08/2014 19:51

Im "off the grid"!

Was surprised really because I put a fair bit on Facebook, but that's the limit I suppose, not really into any other social networky stuff

GreatSoprendo · 15/08/2014 19:53

I'm share-savvy. I think that's pretty true. I'm careful not to over-share, but am not someone who refuses to have a safe appropriate picture of their kids on social media. Hopefully will pass my savvy-ness on to my DS as he becomes older.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 15/08/2014 19:59

Apparently I'm a Sharey-Warey - 'You find the whole world of social media a bit anxiety-inducing - and need help knowing where to dive in.'

What a patronising load of BS! I've been an early adopter of loads of these sites and tools over the years. I'm cautious because I know how they work and have seen loads of people end up regretting their use of social media for one reason or another. I'm one of very few people I know who has ever successfully deleted a FB account and not just deactivated it.

NecesitoDormir · 15/08/2014 20:07

Apparently I am share-savvy. My DH works in a technology driven organisation and I think it is important for this generation of children to learn about the devices and environment in which they will inevitably have to live in, therefore I try to allow them time to understand and use them together so as they appreciate why I impose the rules I do.

JulesJules · 15/08/2014 20:09

I'm "Off the Grid' apparently.

I'm not actually, but neither my children or parents are on facebook and I loathe selfies.

Sonofagun · 15/08/2014 20:09

Share-savvy

DrunkenWhore · 15/08/2014 20:22

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids

Yeah that sounds about right. I don't really like posting photos of my kids on social networking sites but I will post the odd one.
