To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

Share - savvy Smile

JoffreyBaratheon · 25/08/2014 17:12

Off the grid. Which is not entirely the case but the questions weren't very well designed. (Eg: sharing news about my kids' achievements with their grandparents would require the use of a medium and that wasn't even an option).

I watch what my kids are doing online - I also check internet history, etc. To imply people who keep their kids low profile on social media are old farts or somehow not tech savvy? I found that offensive. My younger kids' dad is a F4J type who actively stalks them on social media - so I have to be more tech savvy than anyone to prevent him succeeding. The person who put this together seems to not be living in the real world, if they assume people who don't plaster their kids' images all over the internet, are old farts. Many people in the modern world have good reason not to.

Sarahplane · 25/08/2014 20:18

I'm share savvy apparently. Sounds about right.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 25/08/2014 23:16

Sharey-wary, no surprise really (though it's partly cos the DCs are still too young to be online themselves!).

lucyrobinson · 25/08/2014 23:21

Off the grid. Not quite sure that is right. haha.

BathshebaDarkstone · 26/08/2014 05:37

I'm share-savvy, I think that's fairly accurate. I post photos on Facebook all the time! Grin

Isabeller · 26/08/2014 15:55

MYOB Wink

vicks276 · 26/08/2014 17:58

Apparently i'm share-savvy

GroupieGirl · 26/08/2014 18:04

Share-savvy...no surprise there!

Thisnicknameisnotallowed · 26/08/2014 23:24

Sharey wary apparently , suits me fine

mumtowoo1 · 27/08/2014 07:13

I'm a shary-wary - I like facebook but don't like to share to much.

Cantdothisagain · 27/08/2014 07:59

Sharey-wary.

I don't post endless photos or updates on FB and prefer to live in the present rather than film it all on my phone but I do have a Mumsnet habit and I do get angsty when separated from my phone - which I recognize is unhealthy...

Squtternutbaush · 27/08/2014 10:10

I'm off the grid :o

I do have a Facebook account but its not really used for personal posts, usually daft ramblings with the odd picture thrown in every now and again but nothing goes up that I wouldn't be happy for someone to copy.

I wouldn't have a clue how to use Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp or Snap chat type things and don't intend on learning.

My DC's are 8 and 1 so neither have smartphone, social media accounts or unsupervised access to the internet.

Squtternutbaush · 27/08/2014 10:11

Oh and I'm 27 so not entirely an old fart!

moonbells · 27/08/2014 12:33

Share-y wary here. We don't post identifiable kids photos on open social media.

Sadly the options on that quiz weren't very broad. For instance Qu 1 there were 3 options which ended up on FB and the fourth is very 1970s! No option for taking photos with a phone or digital camera and not plastering them all over the net. In such a circumstance we would (and did) post loads of photos to family using Dropbox. Again not even acknowledged on the quiz.

mrsbabookaloo · 27/08/2014 15:01

I'm share savvy. That's pretty accurate.

ProcessYellowC · 27/08/2014 15:23

I'm off the grid

I love that it comes up with the option to Like/Tweet/G+1/Pin it despite my clearly dinosaur status. And yes moonbells - I share my news and pictures electronically with family bu more discretely than social media.

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 27/08/2014 16:24

Share-savvy, sounds about rightSmile

TLAF · 27/08/2014 19:59

I am a share-savvy

arat · 27/08/2014 20:35

"You are share-savvy", but not sure I fully agree! Had to give a few answers as closest guess as what I really thought wasn't an option.

brookson · 27/08/2014 20:49

Apparently I'm off the grid

Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line. yep nothing like my good old dog n bone

sarah3875 · 27/08/2014 21:24

You are share-savvy- Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids. Fairly happy with that result and hope it continues as my boys get older and more tech savvy themselves.

chezvic · 27/08/2014 21:47

Share-y Mary which fits just about right, I think I have the right balance

grannybiker · 27/08/2014 21:48

Share-savvy it seems!

cookielove · 27/08/2014 22:28

Share-savy Smile
