With summer in full swing, Netflix have asked us to find out how MNers plan to fit a Netflix Moment into summer family plans this year.

Netflix have a dedicated section for kids and family entertainment, including TV shows like Horrid Henry, iCarly and Spongebob Squarepants and movies such as Tangled, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Lilo & Stitch. Learn more at the Netflix Kids section. Netflix is available anywhere in the UK with Wi-Fi, on numerous devices with Wi-Fi, including mobiles, tablets, TVs and games consoles.

You can see how other MNers are using Netflix with their families this summer here.

So, how do you think you’ll be using Netflix over the summer holidays to entertain your family and enjoy time together? Are your DCs winding down by watching their favourite show after a big day out? Are the grandparents and kids bonding over a shared love for Toy Story 3? Is Netflix providing some much-needed respite on a rainy day? What else has been keeping your children happy in the holidays? Whatever it is, Netflix would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

the grandchildren love watching a film of their choice in bed before they go to sleep. They take it in turns in picking somthing to watch, Fifi (11) usually chooses a film and Bob (8) chooses episodes of something or other.

I missed the latest Hobbit film when it was at the cinema so very pleased to see it show up on Netflix so quickly.

lunatuna · 17/08/2014 21:38

This summer we cancelled our Netflix subscription as there were so seldom any new films and we all found it really boring.

I have discovered Now TV movies and we have had some great family film nights watching some old classics and new releases... Honestly, much prefer now tv.

Can I still enter the draw?!

informer365 · 17/08/2014 21:39

I will just watch everything!

BloodFlower · 17/08/2014 21:51

Will be watching horror films and waiting for the dark nights to draw in.

CointreauVersial · 17/08/2014 21:56

We've just signed up for Netflix. Lots for the DCs, as they love re-watching all their favourite TV series. Great for those chilling-out days where there is nothing particularly planned. DH and I are just embarking on Series 5 of Breaking Bad.

i think wherever you go in my house one of use are watching netflix either me or my 8 children are on our devices but tons better when we watch on big screen as a family

jennywren7 · 18/08/2014 13:17

We have a movie and popcorn night every Saturday night, and the kids take it in turns to choose a movie off Netflix.

My little boy loves Netflix (of course I do too) not only does he enjoy his disney films but he loves watching his educational programmes like umizoomi, dora and such things like that. It has been a lifesaver the past few weeks with the bad weather we have been getting here, better yet it's helping him talk and sing more because he has been behind in his speech _.

shellbruce · 18/08/2014 17:30

My husband and I just finished the second series of Life on Mars, I'll be lost without it now. My 12 year old has been watching old episodes of Spngebob :)

NoPointSoup · 18/08/2014 17:36

My kids have watched 'Fred- The Movie' about 100 times!!!! I've binge watched 'Orange is The New Black'. Just after Robin Williams died we all watched 'Jack', which was really sad and extra poignant

mummydobbs · 18/08/2014 18:52

I have spent the summer holidays being taken back to my childhood movies on Netflix with my 3 year old daughter. She definitely has great taste in films as we have been watching pippi longstocking , madaline and three men and a little lady. Love spending quality films days with my big baby girl

Isis1981uk · 18/08/2014 19:23

We'll be downloading old kids series from the 80's to show my son!

SingingSilver · 18/08/2014 19:35

My son and niece love to watch Disney films with me on Netflix. The Princess and the Frog is one of their favourites and I love it too because the animation is similar to the Disney films that came out when I was a kid in the 80s. Every evening DH and I watch one episode of a series - Misfits at the moment. Our favourites have been Orange is the New Black (why we signed up with Netflix) and Breaking Bad.

Bluebees · 18/08/2014 19:52

We alternate working our way through various box sets (Prison Break, Dexter etc) and films. Some great ones on. We each have a log in so it's fab. We usually watch things together though.

Britishdisneydiva · 18/08/2014 20:02

As my reward at the end of a busy day cooking, cleaning & running around after my motley crew I make a cuppa tea, grab the cake tin & head for my bedroom where I cosy down & catch up with all my TV favourites on NetFlix. It's a godsend.

Amez2012 · 18/08/2014 20:39

cuddled up under a blanket watching Mary Poppins over and over!

gorsty15 · 18/08/2014 20:44

I signed up to Netflix a few months back to catch up with Breaking Bad. I have also ended up watching Suits, Friday Night Dinner, Heroes and am now one season into Prison Break. I also mentioned it to my mum who signed up and is now hooked. My daughter who is 4 also watches Spongebob on my phone while I wake up in the morning. But the best thing about Netflix is cuddling up with her and watching a film.

UpUpAndAway123 · 18/08/2014 21:58

I signed up to Netflix with the free trial in June and haven't looked back - I have even cancelled my Sky subscription now as I was sick of the high costs and lack of variety.
We mainly watch family films.....although I am re-living my youth by playing all the old Goosebumps series to my daughter (she is 4 and loves them!)

JillApple · 18/08/2014 22:04

Wow, Netlix has become an essential item and has brought together my teen son and tween daughter in front of the telly for family movie times, as well as allowing us to split up on our own tablets for our own preferred viewings. We have loved the marvel movies - Avengers Assembled, Thor etc. My son loves Dr Who. My daughter loves the H2O mermaid programmes and Disney films. My husband and I have loved Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, American Horror and the Dexter tv series. So cheap for so much entertainment. Love it.

speckers · 18/08/2014 22:09

"Netflix Fridays" are sacrosanct in our house, during term time or holidays! I have two daughters aged 7 and 4 and by Friday afternoon they are in need of some major downtime. I like to think they are learning the fine art of negotiation and compromise in deciding what to watch...but really it's just their opportunity to relax after a busy week (and for me too!). I prefer it to just sticking the telly on - as a film buff myself, I want them to think about what they choose to watch!

Catty212 · 18/08/2014 23:41

I've just finished watching Orange is the new black and hubby and I are watching An American Horror Story

xxxxclarexxxx · 19/08/2014 14:27

ChilledCat · 19/08/2014 20:37

Me and my LO love cuddling up on a rainy afternoon and watching a movie on Netflix! The fact there's loads of Disney favourites on there is a bonus! Me and DH always find a good series to watch aswell!

Shazgo · 20/08/2014 01:53
