With summer in full swing, Netflix have asked us to find out how MNers plan to fit a Netflix Moment into summer family plans this year.

Netflix have a dedicated section for kids and family entertainment, including TV shows like Horrid Henry, iCarly and Spongebob Squarepants and movies such as Tangled, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Lilo & Stitch. Learn more at the Netflix Kids section. Netflix is available anywhere in the UK with Wi-Fi, on numerous devices with Wi-Fi, including mobiles, tablets, TVs and games consoles.

You can see how other MNers are using Netflix with their families this summer here.

So, how do you think you’ll be using Netflix over the summer holidays to entertain your family and enjoy time together? Are your DCs winding down by watching their favourite show after a big day out? Are the grandparents and kids bonding over a shared love for Toy Story 3? Is Netflix providing some much-needed respite on a rainy day? What else has been keeping your children happy in the holidays? Whatever it is, Netflix would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

We watch...... nothing. I cancelled our trial last week after the system chucking me out of whatever programme I was watching on a fairly regular basis, assuming it let me in in the first place of course.
If the magic pixies let me in then I found I was very disappointed in the poor choice and range of films and tv, and the amount of utter dross on the kids section was enough to make me cancel anyway.
really poor service and selection and I wouldn't recommend that anyone should get it. If you do have it I am amazed that anyone wouldn't be bored of it within the first month

I will be watching movies

Jillmcp · 20/08/2014 21:53

When the kiddies are asleep it's my only chill time so I catch up on the sitcoms etc I have missed - currently loving breaking bad :-)

This summer we have mostly been watching Fireman Sam and the Great Fire of Pontypanny. Every. Single. Day. We then draw Fireman Sam pictures, read Fireman Sam books and play with our train set at Fireman Sam rescue.

To be fair, it gives me an hour every day where I can get things done knowing the 3 year old will not move from the TV!

I am currently watching Orange is the New Black, DH is on Breaking Bad and once we have finished those we are moving onto House of Cards, which. I have heard is excellent.

We dont have sky/cable etc and because we have a smart tv with netflix we dont need to get it. TV has been rubbish over the summer (apart from sport) so its really good to have something to get stuck into.
I would like a few more "higher brow" documentaries though (thinking BbC 4 type stuff)

Mums just getting over a double mastectomy, so we have been spending our days watching the latest releases on Netflix! We have movie days, every day to help mum feel better!

Netflix helps to make family TV nights great - good film, popcorn, treats and snuggle blankets!!!

yoeydavis · 21/08/2014 21:03

Netflix is one of the best things to come from the world wide web. I love watching tv series myself, but as a family we get comfy on the sofa with sweet cinema style popcorn, c hocolate & various drinks and watch a family film. It's something we all enjoy and netfliks prices are very fair.

While we are holiday in our log cabin. We sit in the Jacuzzi while the children are watching movies on NetFlix!

Unfortunately we don't have Netflix so I have to keep the grandchildren occupied with their toys

feralgirl · 22/08/2014 16:55

Kids not allowed near Netflix (yet). I wait for them to go to bed and then binge watch House of Cards and Ornage is the New Black.

suebuckman · 22/08/2014 17:13

We have a family film night where we settle down to watch something all together with nibbles and dips or pizza.

Mrsstarlord · 23/08/2014 21:47

Every evening me and my 2 sons have Dr Who club. Pyjamas on, three of us snuggled in my bed watching the Doctor - happy days of childhood [grins]

On the other hand me and dh watched Olympus has Fallen, barely able to breath because of the tension and then....buffering......nothing. Managed to finish it three days later #frustrating.

bonhomme · 24/08/2014 07:00

We have a Saturday morning Netflix cinema club at our house and some of DC friends join us occasionally, with lots of popcorn!

JiminyCricket · 24/08/2014 17:13

DD2s sleepover - four 9 year olds snuggled up on sofas and mattresses, duvets and a pile of cushions with the film of their choice and a good chance that some of them will drop off to sleep before midnight...only to be woken up by the others having a pillow fight ten minutes later.

happyone · 25/08/2014 09:43

kareno · 27/08/2014 18:06

I take my children flower picking during the Summer.
We have a great collection of dried flowers and berries stored under copious books.
But, the fun has started preparing for Autumn - berries every where dry leaves, conkers, and hoping for arm Summer sunsets x
