With summer in full swing, Netflix have asked us to find out how MNers plan to fit a Netflix Moment into summer family plans this year.

Netflix have a dedicated section for kids and family entertainment, including TV shows like Horrid Henry, iCarly and Spongebob Squarepants and movies such as Tangled, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Lilo & Stitch. Learn more at the Netflix Kids section. Netflix is available anywhere in the UK with Wi-Fi, on numerous devices with Wi-Fi, including mobiles, tablets, TVs and games consoles.

You can see how other MNers are using Netflix with their families this summer here.

So, how do you think you’ll be using Netflix over the summer holidays to entertain your family and enjoy time together? Are your DCs winding down by watching their favourite show after a big day out? Are the grandparents and kids bonding over a shared love for Toy Story 3? Is Netflix providing some much-needed respite on a rainy day? What else has been keeping your children happy in the holidays? Whatever it is, Netflix would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

this will keep the little ones occupied when the weather is bad outside and they cannot go into the garden to play

finleypop · 07/08/2014 10:36

We love Netflix. We will be watching family movies together & then after our son goes to bed, we want to give Breaking Bad a go, since we missed it on normal TV

My Uni age kids have a netflix subscription for their Xmas present. We are planning to do the same thing every year for ever. They love Netflix.

So not a Netflix moment for me directly but a Netflix moment by proxy.

Our toddler absolutely loves Thomas the Tank Engine. It's her bedtime treat and it's nice and gentle so not too hyper. She sits on my knee, watches a couple of episodes and then trots upstairs quite happily :) I'm looking forward to her being a little bit older so we can have hot chocolate and movie time :o

We don't tend to spend hours with the TV on, when we watch its more of an occasion so it will be a specific film picked out rather than hopping through channels. We'll pick a good film, make some popcorn and snuggle on the sofa and its a proper occasion!

BizziLiz · 07/08/2014 11:58

The children love Spongebob Squarepants so they watch nonstop when it rains. (Does anyone else find themselves singing 'Who lives in a pineapple under the sea' at inopportune moments like browsing the supermarket shelves?)

rozsargent · 07/08/2014 12:06

I have only just subscribed to netflix and kids are loving it already there is plenty of movies for them to watch and keep them entertained :)

clareycat · 07/08/2014 12:06

I'm now on Mat leave and will be using Netflix to keep me entertained and catch-up on box sets.

andywedge · 07/08/2014 12:09

Phrases like 'Oh I used to love this film' or 'Kids, come here and watch this, you'll love it'. Sucks them in and I get 90 minutes or so of peace - or even longer if it's afilm they really like and end up watching it 20+ times

prwilson · 07/08/2014 12:11

A bit of escapism once the kids are in bed.

sugar1975 · 07/08/2014 12:19

We have just spotted the wonders of netflix. My children are loving the fact that they can follow a series on there at the click of a button! I am too having fun as I never realised how comical Adam Sandler is! I love to tune into his films! A bit of me time can't be bad!

glennamy · 07/08/2014 12:41

Netflix is great for breaking up long journey's and when my daughter wants to watch her favourite shows if she wakes up early. I also like it for introducing her to the shows that I watched as a child, which in the main she adores...

samzyzg · 07/08/2014 12:45

For some peace and quiet time :)

JoJoY · 07/08/2014 13:09

We'd watch all the new releases to save a ton of money!

Pimmpom · 07/08/2014 13:34

Lovely to wind down together with a family film after a long day out in the sun!

littlestfairy · 07/08/2014 14:13

Saturday night is family movie night in our house :)

cagsd · 07/08/2014 14:17

My 7 year old loves all the Lego shows, Atlantis, Chima etc - he watches them of a morning while we're waiting for his lazy big brother to surface!!

lorna1104 · 07/08/2014 14:42

my 3 year old loves his tablet so it great when he need to calm down to watch some movies on the tablet while his sister watching the telly x

Badvoc123 · 07/08/2014 14:59

I have watched the whole series of house of cards.
Also the whole box set of chuck which I missed on tv first time round.
I have watched stand up like tommy tiernan and tim minchin.
But I have to say Netflix was our saviour when ds2 had a to have an urgent operation last month!!
He had to be in quarantine for 2 weeks and Netflix was fab at keeping him occupied and not bored :)
He particularly likes turbo and tangled.
And at £5.99 per month I think it's excellent value.
(Although I wish I hasn't bothered watching starship troopers!...that's 2 hours of my life I will never get back!)

Badvoc123 · 07/08/2014 14:59

....oh and being able to watch on tv, phone and tablet is ace :)

cazzzie987 · 07/08/2014 15:02

We watch Breaking Bad and Bob's brothers in the evenings.

Bubbles85 · 07/08/2014 15:11

Not a fan of letting the LO watch TV yet but I love to watch films in the bath (when I manage to get the time) and also series when I doing the washing up etc one the LO is in bed. :)

Gbear0382 · 07/08/2014 15:21

Toy Story 3 went down a treat the other day!

maloofysmum · 07/08/2014 17:06

My dd (12) has recently discovered Buffy the Vampire Slayer and my son is watching anything Marvel related. I really love Hemlock Grove and recently finished re watching the whole of Fringe which is my all time fav. Netflix is a godsend when there is absolutely nothing on and if it's raining we cook some popcorn and watch a movie.. fab :o)
