Back in December, Mumsnetters got stuck into season 1 of Netflix original series Orange is the New Black, starring Taylor Schilling and Jason Biggs. After a lot of exciting discussion and anticipation on the thread, we can reveal that our next Watch with Mumsnet will be Orange is the New Black season 2, available to watch only on Netflix.

"I’m scared that I’m not myself in here and I’m scared that I am."

Based on the acclaimed memoir of the same name, the series follows Brooklynite Piper Chapman, who is sentenced to 15 months in prison for a crime she committed 10 years ago.

The show tracks Piper’s journey as she adapts to her new life and tries to stay out of trouble. Despite her best efforts to fit in, things don’t quite go according to plan and Piper gets mixed up in all sorts of sticky situations, from her many social blunders with fellow inmates, to run-ins with the corrupt prison guards, as well as an expected encounter from her past.

Along the way we are introduced to the hilarious cast of characters, from one of the most impressive (almost) all-female ensembles in recent years. As Piper struggles to adjust to her new reality, she finds unexpected laughter, tears, conflict and camaraderie amidst an eccentric and outspoken group of inmates.

Now back for a new season, we can’t wait to see what’s in store of the inmates of Litchfield Prison. Here’s what Mumsnetters said about the first series:

• “I loved this! I decided to watch it a couple of weeks ago and ended up watching the whole series in two days, I can't wait for series two.”

• “When my husband told me about this epic series, I was nonplussed. However, when I saw that it was from a seemingly sane and intelligent woman's perspective, my interest definitely changed. My parents brought me up to appreciate strong female (and male) characters and 'Orange is the new Black' has these aplenty.”

• “It is very addictive, I watched them all in about 2 weeks and now I'm gagging for more. Can't wait to see what happens in the next series after that ending”

We’d love to find out what you think of the new series, and what your favourite moments have been so far. Watch and join in the discussion on this thread, and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

You can watch the whole series instantly on Netflix here, and if you subscribe to Netflix now, you get the first month free. Whether you’ve seen the first series or you’re new to Orange is the New Black, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Don’t forget, you can also join the conversation on Twitter now using the hashtag #OITNB

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking about anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

By the way, you can also get the new OITNB app on iTunes and the Google Store and you could give your photos an OITNB makeover.

Binge-watched the whole lot after work on Saturday/Sunday... last episode is perfection. Trying not to be spoilery, but Rosa made me both tear up and cheer, and anything with O'Neill + nuns = comedy gold Grin

NecesitoDormir · 09/06/2014 10:43

We've just finished Sons of Anarchy so tonight we can start OITNB2. I'm looking forward to seeing the improved teeth!

PinglePongle · 09/06/2014 16:02

Started watching the first episode last night, Jason Biggs is one of my favourite actors of all time so when I saw that he was in this I just had to watch it! I think that Taylor Schilling plays the character really well and I'm looking forward to the next episode tonight curled up with my cat and a glass of wine!

jacqroberts68 · 09/06/2014 17:59

This show is amazing. My Daughter was a fan first and insisted I would like it but I was dubious...was I wrong. Love the back stories on all the characters and one of the most heartwarming entertaining shows I have watched in ages.

valsh · 09/06/2014 18:37

Turned out to be a lot more gripping and satisfying than I expected - looking forward to season 2!

K4thryn · 09/06/2014 18:41

I promised myself only one episode last night.
Ended up being two - d'oh! I loooooove it, utterly addicted. We were talking about the fact that it's very Lost-esque in the way it drops in the back stories of all the characters and changes your view of them as you go along..
S2, ep 8 tonight. Just the one..
Honest ??

hippygran · 09/06/2014 18:45

great series & loving watching it.

nanajaxc · 09/06/2014 19:18

Nice to see I'm not the only addict!

lota100 · 09/06/2014 19:30

Ohhhhhh I've not seen or heard of this I must look it up, sounds great

EightToSixer · 09/06/2014 19:44

Ooh I'm in. Exciting.
I watched S2 Ep1 on Saturday and I'm waiting for the DCs to go to bed so I can watch the next one.
Two of my colleagues actually subscribed to Netflix in order to watch it as I've told them how great it is.

Kathderoet · 09/06/2014 19:47

Having Kate Mulgrew in it is a big change from her Captain Janeway role, brilliant bit of casting though.

Ledkr · 09/06/2014 19:47

I was watching it in bed and fell asleep.
I've just been watching it on the I pad while I made the packed lunches and realised I'd slept clean through two episodes Hmm
I was very tired!!

lizd31 · 09/06/2014 20:01

I've never seen the first series but I saw 3 of the girls & Jason Biggs being interviewed on chatty man the other week & it sounds hilarious so I shall definitely be catching up from the start & watching the new series too

calistamommy · 09/06/2014 20:02

just finished binge watching it. I love it it's funny, sad & gripping what more could you want in a programme. strong characters that you really get attached to ( or is that just me lol) think it is every bit as strong as series 1. I love it , need it on DVD ASAP !

rachel19784 · 09/06/2014 20:25

I have now found another Addictive programmes. I love the fact Netflicks allow you to watch your favourite programmes all at once in box sets. I have also found so many new box sets that I wouldn't normally have found if it was not for Netflicks. I would thoroughly recommend putting the kids to bed, grabbing a Take-a-way, glass of wine and your comfy pj's and have a marathon 'Orange is the new black'

ThingsThatShine · 09/06/2014 20:39

I am starting tonight! Was so looking forward to this coming back

midi1975 · 09/06/2014 20:56

I was unsure if it was my sort of viewing, but I find it highly entertaining and moving. If in doubt about it, just give it a try.

nannynick · 09/06/2014 21:27

Currently have watched up to and including episode 4.

I like how you get to know characters back story, revealed over time not all in one go. It helps to feel more connected with the lead characters, though you still feel at times that there is more to be told.

There is more to it than just being women in prison, it's something deeper about their reason for being there that gets you wanting to keep watching.

mamaduckbone · 09/06/2014 21:57

I haven't been this excited about a new series in I don't know how long!

Watched up to episode 7 of the new season and I love the fact that it is just as much about the other characters as Piper now. Such a strong female cast and I really like the way we see a different character's history in each episode, but I want to know more...we never get the full story, which is I guess what keeps you watching. The Poussey story in episode 7 was really moving but we still don't know how she actually ended up inside.
Dh really likes it too so we're doing an episode a night at the moment - I very rarely watch normal TV these days. We've done Breaking Bad hadn't this is my current favourite.

lilmissneurotic · 09/06/2014 22:06

Just finished devouring this. Really enjoyed it, like mamaduckbone I like the slow drift away from piper and other characters getting a chance to come forward.

Loved the new characters this season, they really added a lot to the dynamic.

Just gutted that I finished it so fast and have to wait for the next season.

Smythe13 · 09/06/2014 22:29

So sad - I've never even heard of it! Have children really destroyed all my kudos?

mamaduckbone · 09/06/2014 22:33

Ooh, finished already lilmissneurotic?! You've had some late nights! Does the Red and V storyline live up to expectations? (No spoilers please!)

Dontbugmemalone · 09/06/2014 23:00

I've just finished watching the whole second season. Paying for it now though because of lack of sleep!

I thought this season was much stronger than the last and was less orientated around Piper, which I preferred because I don't like the character much. We're not supposed to probably.

Some storylines were a bit silly and unnecessary but overall I think most of them were unpredictable which draws you in more.

The dynamics of the characters changed dramatically and some of their actions made me shout "No! Don't do that" my laptop screen, which is not something I'd previously done.

The best storylines involved learning more about the characters- Morello, Red and V in particular. I was shocked in the last two episodes regarding one character's behaviour but I don't want to add any spoilers.

katiewalters · 09/06/2014 23:15

I have loved it, as much as the first season. It's very edgy, funny and very addictive

Bumpy1 · 09/06/2014 23:39

Have been waiting for season two for ages, started watching last night and I'm rationing: only 2 episodes per night. I really like that it seems to be less Piper focused and follows some of the other women's' stories
