Back in December, Mumsnetters got stuck into season 1 of Netflix original series Orange is the New Black, starring Taylor Schilling and Jason Biggs. After a lot of exciting discussion and anticipation on the thread, we can reveal that our next Watch with Mumsnet will be Orange is the New Black season 2, available to watch only on Netflix.

"I’m scared that I’m not myself in here and I’m scared that I am."

Based on the acclaimed memoir of the same name, the series follows Brooklynite Piper Chapman, who is sentenced to 15 months in prison for a crime she committed 10 years ago.

The show tracks Piper’s journey as she adapts to her new life and tries to stay out of trouble. Despite her best efforts to fit in, things don’t quite go according to plan and Piper gets mixed up in all sorts of sticky situations, from her many social blunders with fellow inmates, to run-ins with the corrupt prison guards, as well as an expected encounter from her past.

Along the way we are introduced to the hilarious cast of characters, from one of the most impressive (almost) all-female ensembles in recent years. As Piper struggles to adjust to her new reality, she finds unexpected laughter, tears, conflict and camaraderie amidst an eccentric and outspoken group of inmates.

Now back for a new season, we can’t wait to see what’s in store of the inmates of Litchfield Prison. Here’s what Mumsnetters said about the first series:

• “I loved this! I decided to watch it a couple of weeks ago and ended up watching the whole series in two days, I can't wait for series two.”

• “When my husband told me about this epic series, I was nonplussed. However, when I saw that it was from a seemingly sane and intelligent woman's perspective, my interest definitely changed. My parents brought me up to appreciate strong female (and male) characters and 'Orange is the new Black' has these aplenty.”

• “It is very addictive, I watched them all in about 2 weeks and now I'm gagging for more. Can't wait to see what happens in the next series after that ending”

We’d love to find out what you think of the new series, and what your favourite moments have been so far. Watch and join in the discussion on this thread, and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

You can watch the whole series instantly on Netflix here, and if you subscribe to Netflix now, you get the first month free. Whether you’ve seen the first series or you’re new to Orange is the New Black, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Really? I can't read crime novels because of an uncanny ability to know who dunnit after a couple of chapters! This is far better as there are so many stories and substories going on at the same time. Oooh I want it to be DD's bedtime just so I can watch more Blush!

Favourite quote so far from Boo: 'Two in the pink, one in the stink...it ain't rocket science.' HAAAHHAHAH.

I'm about to watch episode 4. I'm really hoping Vee is feeling genuinely maternal towards Suzanne. I know it's part of the plan but I really hope she is. I'm being naive aren't I?

The pleasure is in the finding out yourself Grin

I'm sooo sorry!!! We need a spoiler thread! I have a need to discuss what's been said/done.

siiiiiiiiigh · 07/06/2014 16:43

joining in. I watched the first series and wasn't awfully impressed with the first couple - after that, though, loved it. Hooked.

Been waiting for her to come back, hope she gets really mean and nasty.

Only watched the first 2 episodes but I love it, I loved the first series, it's one of the best things I've watched.

Snatchoo · 07/06/2014 23:33

I'm about half way through season 1, loving it and can't wait to get to season 2.

I've enjoyed the character info as well.

Ledkr · 08/06/2014 02:37

I also watched s1 to fill the void left by breaking bad. I loved it and just as I finished, the new series started.
I've watch e1 and 2 and am finding it quite dark.
Feels very insightful of prison life

aoife24 · 08/06/2014 16:51

I'm five episodes into season 2 and I'm really not liking it as much as last time. It seems to have become cruder at telling the women's stories an dealing with issues and much coarser. Also, I'm not sure what to make of all the pert breasts on offer, pert and young only, mind, all a bit titillating, excuse the pun. I am not at all sure I'm going to stick with it.

twoboots · 08/06/2014 19:34

It's great to see Lorna's backstory unfolding.

DrewsWife · 08/06/2014 20:05

down with an infection and binge watched season 2. omg I need 3 now!!!

the ending was brilliant. it was better than brilliant. I cheered at Rosa. I find piper quite weak which I find endearing. there is no way the prison system is so nice.

Vee was brutal. tastyees backstory was sad. I loved seeing her as a little girl. Suzanne I just wanted to pick up and hug. she only ever wanted to fit in.

Red remained my favourite character. Her treatment at the end was brutal and I winced. im off to the spoilers thread now.

rachaelsit · 08/06/2014 20:58

I had Netflix for a trial once before but thought it was limited in what you could watch. I've heard this is good though, so I might give it another go...especially as I'm maternity leave now!!

ineedausername · 08/06/2014 21:53

oooh, where is the spoilers thread???!

GatoradeMeBitch · 08/06/2014 21:55

I loved the finale! No spoilers but I'm pleased with a certain someone's comeupance, and I hope another someone did not get caught by the police!

lionheart · 08/06/2014 22:19

Good strong start.

CookieRobot · 08/06/2014 22:29

Just about to watch episode 2 now.

Watched episode 1 last night and I too was bothered about Piper, she annoys me. Especially when she started that stupid crying on the plane.

Still love it though.

Dwerf · 08/06/2014 22:39

Watched the first two of the second series, just as good as the first series.

SuchSweetSorrow · 08/06/2014 22:47

I have finished season 2, also loved how it ended. Wish I had paced myself now though as I'm back to not having anything to watch!

Samedaydifferentusername · 08/06/2014 23:49

Just watched episode 3&4. Loved Morellos story, have always liked her character but it was great to understand more about her and Christopher.

ChunkyPickle · 09/06/2014 08:24

Hmmm, I just watched 4 episodes, and I have to agree with the other posters that the character background bits are a bit heavy-handed/rushed this time round.

I'll have to re-watch a couple of the first-season I think to remind myself.
