Watch With Mumsnet, in association with Netflix, is back again this month – this time, with the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying television shows ever to have come out of the US.

Breaking Bad follows Emmy award-winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school science teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who, in order to support his family, teams up with a former student to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Millions tuned in to the epic finale last year; no surprise that Mumsnetters were among them.

Here’s what Mumsnetters had to say about Breaking Bad:

• "It's amazing - one of the most original dramas I've come across."

• "One of the best TV series ever … I loved it. The cast, the script, the acting...everything."

• "Now I've finished it, I realise it's almost as good as The Wire - so it's one of the best things I've ever watched on TV."

• "Just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad. It was intense. We've been watching at least one episode every night, sometimes three!"

With all five seasons available to watch on Netflix now, your viewing is sorted for the coming months (and, yes: we give you permission to binge-watch). Just come back to this thread and let us know what you think; everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a competition to win an Xbox One console.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

The Fly was shot due to cast unavailability or not having very much money. Can't remember which. I liked it but would have been a bit gutted if I'd waited all week with another week to go before the plot moving!

Ledare · 01/04/2014 15:28

I loved it when Jesse shafted his parents over the house. When I saw that they had stickers in their car for Mom, Dad, his brother and not him, I wanted to cry Sad

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 16:12

I didn't notice the stickers, Ledare Sad.

lizd31 · 01/04/2014 16:29

I haven't actually watched it yet but so many people have told me how great it is so I think I'm going to have to see for myself

Ritakd · 01/04/2014 16:34

Recently discovered BB, Oh My Goodness!!! We can't wait for the kids to go to bed to watch another episode. Brilliantly written & acted love it.x

maryandbuzz1 · 01/04/2014 16:43

My friends got me hooked on the series and ...well and truly. I frequently re-watched the programme back to back! I thought I knew who the good guys were and then discovered I didn't. My husband and teenage son are just as smitten as me. I have to hide my eyes at some of the more gruesome parts though.

traceydoll · 01/04/2014 16:58

It's AWESOME. Slow to start with but keep at it and you will be HOOKED.

prwilson · 01/04/2014 17:02

I haven't seen too many episodes, but I think it's a really excellent show.

dandm12 · 01/04/2014 17:05

I missed it on telly and so have been catching on netflix for a while now. Really struggling to get into it though. Sticking with it and hoping I get into it from now, since the reviews have been so great.
I don't know, maybe I'm just put off by how much I've got to catch up on!

bringans · 01/04/2014 17:41

Ive tried and Ive tried to watch this, I just don't get why everyone has gone on about it, I really tried :(, watched Series 1-3 and just could not make it any further, everyone I know loves it, and normaly I like what my friends like..The Wire, Game Of Thrones, etc etc..but not this....they all say I am strange !!

shellywkd · 01/04/2014 17:54

I have just started watching it and find it quite gripping and can't wait to watch the next episode

spiderwebattic · 01/04/2014 18:08

I've really enjoyed this series. Mr White reminded me of my old science teacher at Comprehensive school ( boy did I wish I'd paid more attention in science after watching the whole series ) lol! This show's made science so sexy :0) My favourite character is Gustavo how straight laced does he seem? but secretly he's the head of the biggest drug empire.Using his chicken restaurants to cover his tracks. Makes you wonder about your local takeaway. Without a doubt we all know a bunch of Jesse's but those lovely eyes make it all worth watching. Incidentally the actor who plays Hank ( Dean Norris ) is hilarious with his naughty outbursts on twitter his effing and jeffing even make me blush at times but it's so fresh to see somebody saying it like they see it. Loved the show it set me off on a Netflix series marathon. If you guys enjoyed the grit of Breaking Bad then afterwards if it leaves you gripped for more drama watch Orange is the New Black, you'll love it.

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 18:23

bringans - didn't you find yourself hooked by the characters and their dilemmas? I found I was on the edge of my seat for most episodes. And I either fell in love with Jesse or wanted to mother him - am not sure which Blush.

rodders470 · 01/04/2014 18:30

I wasn't to start with, but it gets better as you go through. The last season was so gripping, I ended up watching the whole thing in a day!

Gbear0382 · 01/04/2014 18:30

I'll not spoil the ending, but of all the big US television series, the ending to Breaking Bad just felt right - not anti-climactic, not leaving you with more question than answer - they writers just nailed it!

Still wish more were in the pipeline though :(

bernie59 · 01/04/2014 18:35

Watched the first 2 series of Breaking Bad on Channel 5 several years ago and thought it was brilliant, the acting the script and the sheer originality. Then it just disappeared, no one else I knew had ever heard of it. Then last year I saw the add for Netflix and the only reason I signed up was because of Breaking Bad. I watched it from the beginning again and it was a joy to re watch. My husband soon become hooked and we would start watching an episode then another and another. August seemed to take forever to come round for the final series and we watched it first thing every Monday morning after the AMC broadcast. It never disappointed like some series, it constantly kept up the pace and the finale tied everything up neatly. I'm now having withdrawal symptoms, nothing else competes with it. It beats The Sopranos, The Wire hands down. I've recommended it to so many friends who have all enjoyed it and even Emily Bishop on Coronation Street said she was having a night in to watch it has the box set! So I'd say to all those who are finding it slow at first stick with it, it's worth the watch.

Scojo72 · 01/04/2014 18:39

I really enjoyed breaking bad, what he was doing was totally wrong, but must people would do the same to protect there family. And in away he had nothing to lose.

ThemisA · 01/04/2014 18:44

Absolutely love the continuity between episodes, they often feel like short films in their own right which is ideal for mums short of time.
I particularly enjoyed the unusual twist of the protagonist becoming the antagonist. Just so gripping and something I ration because I love it so much.

bringans · 01/04/2014 18:50

ToffeeWhirl - nope, and I really tried too :(. and I have gone back to try it 3+ times as I was told it gets better as it moves on...I guess this is just one program I don't get...strange as I said all my friends love it, and think I am just a loopy Lou !! :)

blackmidnight · 01/04/2014 18:58

I've just started series 4 and can't wait to see how it all ends. Already wondering what I could possibly watch next! Not going to read back over the thread though as really don't want to see any spoilers.

lorilizy · 01/04/2014 19:15

I didn't think I'd like it, so avoided it for ages, but have recently started to watch. I'm only 4 episodes in, but I'm loving it. Wished I started ages ago. Not going to0 read many replies here, just in case of spoilers.

manofcopper · 01/04/2014 19:40

We're part way through season 3. It is quite slow going though as sometimes we need a bit of a break after a particularly depressing/'edgy' episode!

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 20:20

bringans - I'm sorry. Maybe the hype built it up too much in your mind. I had managed to miss all the hype, so I came to it with no preconceptions at all.

mayhemmusic · 01/04/2014 20:54

Really cant get into this series I have tried twice before and again now just dont get on with it, oh well back to Modern Family :)

Ikea1234 · 01/04/2014 20:55

Okay, so I am the only person, possibly on the planet not just my village, who has not watched it. The storyline doesn't appeal to me really (do I want to watch a programme on drug production and dealing?!) and the clips I have seen haven't drawn me in at all. I'm not puritanical, honest, but I very often like random stuff that isn't the talk of the mums at the school gate!
