Watch With Mumsnet, in association with Netflix, is back again this month – this time, with the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying television shows ever to have come out of the US.

Breaking Bad follows Emmy award-winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school science teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who, in order to support his family, teams up with a former student to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Millions tuned in to the epic finale last year; no surprise that Mumsnetters were among them.

Here’s what Mumsnetters had to say about Breaking Bad:

• "It's amazing - one of the most original dramas I've come across."

• "One of the best TV series ever … I loved it. The cast, the script, the acting...everything."

• "Now I've finished it, I realise it's almost as good as The Wire - so it's one of the best things I've ever watched on TV."

• "Just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad. It was intense. We've been watching at least one episode every night, sometimes three!"

With all five seasons available to watch on Netflix now, your viewing is sorted for the coming months (and, yes: we give you permission to binge-watch). Just come back to this thread and let us know what you think; everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a competition to win an Xbox One console.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I am loving Breaking Bad. Great story and Bryan Cranston is brilliant. It takes a bit of getting used to seeing the Dad from Malcolm In The Middle being a Meth Dealer but is well worth watching!!

Watched the final episode on Saturday. Loved every minute if it, and at a loss for something to do of an evening now.

Looking forward to Better Call Saul

cymrukernow · 31/03/2014 20:36

I started this a few months ago, got my free months trial with Netflix and was hooked! What gripped me from s1e1 was the incredible writing, the White family are all fully rounded characters who are totally unforgettable. Bryan Cranston as Walter is brilliant - just Google him to see how different he looks in real life!
Also the production design is amazing, the way they show an American working class family in a way that at times is warts- and - all but never patronising. The photography is excellent too with some really creative in-between sequences.
On series 4 now!

Keep putting Breaking Bad off as it's such a mammoth mission, but everyone keeps going on about it. So I've decided that Easter is going to be the start of something big (and that's not just me after eating my Easter eggs xxx

sandracopestake · 31/03/2014 20:47

just finished watching this myself, cant believe how this ended, long live pinkerton

rachel19784 · 31/03/2014 21:00

I watch this show with my husband, we have been absolutely glued to our seats whilst watching this. I feel like I know Walter White and Jesse. We watch this with yummy snacks and a glass of wine, Pj's on and we get all cosy and do not move until the credits. If you haven't seen this, get the box set and book a few days off work... You will not regret it!

Catess76 · 31/03/2014 21:04

I'm half way through it and yes I have to admit !! It's got me.... I was unsure after first series but it got me hooked soon after :-)

vixeatstix · 31/03/2014 21:18

Gotta love the pinkman. It's the reason people get Netflix. There are so many subtleties that unless you know where the characters end up you don't see slowly happening. Opening another Schraderbrau and clinking to Vince Gilligan. A masterpiece sir, thank you

rodcornaby · 31/03/2014 21:25

One episode in and already hooked... It's addictive! :D

Ledare · 31/03/2014 22:03

Carriecakes, who is in that pic?

I am doubly bereft having finished watching "Talking Bad"

Saw this in Tesco today and immediately thought, "let's cook" Grin

It has got me glued to the box. One of the top American TV series!

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 01/04/2014 07:00

amardanas - it's a BBC production!!!

Summer777 · 01/04/2014 08:18

I feel your pain Fairylea & ToffeeWhirl - I too have a big Breaking Bad hole in my life now I've finished watching this amazing series. I would even go so far as to say it helped my marriage! Now the children are older and going to bed later, my husband and I don't really get much of an evening; but throughout the series we were united in our common goal to sit down as early as poss to watch a BB episode. During the last few seasons, it was our biggest topic of conversation: we have never before (& never will again - sob) equally love a programme with the same intensity. We found we weren't the only ones: overheard at a BBQ - one couple talking about how they 'couldn't wait to get the kids to bed so they could get 'straight at it'. 'Yeah' said another couple, 'We're at it three times a night!' They were talking about their BB box set addiction too - so funny! Only thing I would say to some of those struggling to get into it, is that I loved it passionately from the very first episode - perhaps it's not for everyone.

BroodyMe · 01/04/2014 11:46

I love Breaking Bad, the tension, the humour, all of it.

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 11:46

That's very funny, Summer Grin. DH and I were exactly the same! And, like you, we also loved it from the very first episode - in fact, I don't understand those who didn't get into it straight away. We loved the black humour.

gingercat12 · 01/04/2014 12:09

I love Breaking Bad. Jessie has always been my favourite. Ever since he cried himself to sleep in season 2 I just wanted him to be all right...

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 01/04/2014 12:41

I love Jesse Pinkman.

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 13:13

I love Jesse too. Was so angry with his parents for not looking after him properly.

GrasshopperNchipmunk · 01/04/2014 14:27

My husband and I started watching Breaking Bad when I went on mat leave just before Christmas and watched the full 5 series in about 6 weeks. I really liked it but was not as good as I thought it would be given the hype. There were some really good characters, and it was good how the writers changed my views on Walt and Jessie from start to finish.

I thought it was really cleverly written... but some episodes were mind numbingly boring (the fly?!) what a waste of an hour!

ToffeeWhirl · 01/04/2014 14:49

I loved the fly one. Thought it was really clever. But I think it received mixed reviews at the time.
