Thought we needed this topic here too....

mine is just exciting - today Dd cut her first tooth.

I am off to London today for a training day and it will be the longest time I have spent away from her!! SO pleased dh noticed it before I went off for the day. She has been dribbling and gnawing for weeks and finally A little tooth poked its head out of her gums.

i love reading about our kids... lou well done to your ds and glad things are a little easier for you.

My brag - well after dd's first tooth making an appearance just over a week ago - the second one is about to pop up - can see it just coming through the gum... bless her dribbly little socks

They look so cute when the first couple are through don't they?

eidsvold · 12/05/2003 21:00

they are still coming but visible - well the first one is clearly visible - the other is just poking through .... I love watching her running her tongue over it and sucking her lip in over it.....she is concentrating on exploring the tooth - very cute...

I hope you don't mind me invading your thread, but I thought you might like to see this news story (scroll down the page and it's the video link on the R-hand side) about an actress with Down's Syndrome. I bet her mum and dad are proud!

lou33 · 15/05/2003 09:55

Not invading Suedonim, you're welcome anytime.

Am dancing on clouds proud today, because yesterday ds actually crawled!!!! Not commando style or bunny hop style, but using all fours style, and he whizzed across my sister's kitchen floor, which is at least 30 feet, shouting "Get me!" (just to recap ds has cerebral palsy and is 26 months old).

His gaiters seem to be having a good effect on him. I'm desperate to tell his physiotherapist, but she is away all this week on a course so I have to wait.

suedonim · 15/05/2003 10:46

Wow, that's wonderful, Lou! He hasn't had the gaiters long, has he, yet what an effect! You'll need eyes in the back of your head from now on.

Thank you for the welcome. I wouldn't pretend to be in any of your positions re special needs but I did have 14 years of caring for my severely asthmatic DS. We also had to battle for treatment and for education, so I think I can guess at some of the frustrations that special needs engenders for families. Best wishes, Sue.

ThomCat · 15/05/2003 12:33

Oh Lou, that's wicked. How wonderful. Now I've seen his pictures i feel like I know him much better1 We're all proud of jim as well!

doormat · 15/05/2003 12:36

Lou33

lou33 · 15/05/2003 13:24

Must be very hormonal today, you've all reduced me to a blubbering jelly! Thanks everyone for your reaction. Thomcat, I hope you liked the pictures. Wish I could add a video link of his crawling.

His physio will be delighted, typical she can't see him this week when we have something big to brag about.

GRMUM · 15/05/2003 13:40

Lou that is wonderful news the gaiters must be having a really good effect.I know your physio will be over the moon 'cos thats what makes it all worthwhile for us, as well as parents, family and most of all the child involved. How did ds react?

ThomCat · 15/05/2003 15:21

Lou, I LOVED the pictures, bless you! He's gorgeous, they all are, you lucky Mum. I replied to your email actually hon' didn't you get it? I cheekily attached some pictures of Lottie, I couldn't resist. Hope you don't mind. Let me know if you didn't get my email won't you.
And incase anyone thinks I'm showing Lou favourtism here, anyone else who wants to be bored by me and have me email them pictures of Lottie then feel free to email Mumsnet and ask them to email me your address and I'll attach a couple of pics for you too.

lou33 · 15/05/2003 18:53

Hi Thomcat, omg she is gorgeous! Ds2 was sitting on my lap when the pictures loaded in and he pointed at her in her white dress and said "princess" lol. Thank you so much for sharing them with me. Did you know I have a nephew with ds who is 14 now? My sister and her husband are patrons of the dsa and she is also on the board of trustees.

Grmum, thanks for asking. He was hysterical for the first time we put them on him, but after that the tears were less and less, to the point that now he just lies there and lets me put them on. Like I said to Thomcat, if anyone wants to see his pictures then email me via mumsnet and I will send you the link to his page. He has his gaiters on in one of the pictures.

eidsvold · 15/05/2003 19:42

wanted to say well done once again lou to your little one... and add my own little brag again ( i know!!)

visited the paed. last week and he is so impressed with dd's progress that we do not need to see him for a year... next cardiac appointment is in June though but he seemed to think her heart was fine... physio and OT were very impressed with her progress..... she is just coming on in leaps in bounds.

lou33 · 15/05/2003 20:21

Eidsvold that is fantastic news, you must be over the moon. Jimjams - 600?! What have you done to deserve that?

Jimjams · 16/05/2003 09:00

been on mumsnet rather than reading my email Oh and didn't log on during ds1's birthday. Once I've deleted the viagra/porn/god knows what most of it is autism mailing lists. I'm on 2 and they seem to have been busy the last couple of days. I don't like to mass delete as sometimes there's some really interesting stuff in there, but I may have to on this occassion.....

lou33 · 16/05/2003 15:41

Just got your email eidsvold, so have sent you the link. Hope you like it!

ThomCat · 18/05/2003 12:26

Managed to log on at home, can't ait to get into work now tomorrow and start sharing photos!
