Thought we needed this topic here too....

mine is just exciting - today Dd cut her first tooth.

I am off to London today for a training day and it will be the longest time I have spent away from her!! SO pleased dh noticed it before I went off for the day. She has been dribbling and gnawing for weeks and finally A little tooth poked its head out of her gums.

Ahh Lou, we all love you!!!! You'll hear it eventually babes and I want to hear about it here when it happens!

MABS · 29/05/2003 17:46

taht's wonderful Eidsvold, you must be over the moon. Ds has never said it either, any words he says are always connected with food...

lou33 · 29/05/2003 19:00

Aw thanks! Actually whenever I ask him if he loves mummy he says "no, daddy"! I think he does it on purpose, or dh sits there when he is asleep giving him subliminal messages. Still smarting over the thing about alfie's nan in eastenders.

On another issue, ds had his first ot session at home today, and had a fantastic time. Really lovely ot. She said that although his fine grip is very good, such as picking up pennies, holding a pencil, he seems to be having trouble getting the pencil to do what he wants, so will need help to get him to coordinate it. She did say what it was called but I have forgotten (too much sun). Anyway she is going to see him in about 6 weeks (because she has group sessions until then on the day we see pt) with the pt so we don't have to traipse back and forth twice a week to the same place. Also she is referring him to wheelchair services to see if we can get a better type of buggy for him, and hunting for a different pommel for his chair.

Incidentally Jimjams, I was talking to her about the waiting times for ot. She said it's generally rubbish nationwide, and in fact she changed jobs to be in this area because the waiting lists where she worked were 18 months plus, and she found it too hard having to explain why all the time to worried parents. I guess we must be fortunate, feel very lucky.

chatee · 29/05/2003 19:22

Lou33
We were referred to OT last September and only yesterday received confirmation that OT is coming to visit us next week(found out by chance from PT)
or is it the fact that our HV has organised a review for DD in the beginning of July with every aspect for DD covered with all services and OT didn't want to turn up at meeting and admit to not meeting us????
HV is concerned we are not getting everything we are entitled too-should be interesting!!!
How's DS doing? did you manage to get him a ball?

Jimjams · 03/06/2003 10:28

I think- dare I say it- that DS1 is well on the way to being toilet trained. He has asked to go a few times and then gone up to the toilet and done a wee/poo!!! I suspect he will be dry by the time he starts school in September. Phew I was beginning to worry

doormat · 03/06/2003 10:33

LOL Jimjams

ThomCat · 03/06/2003 14:05

JimJams, kepiong my fingers crossed he can keep his legs crossed! That's great that her looks well on the way to being dry for school, well done jimjams junior!

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 18:26

DD said Mama today (10 months), I've been waiting for months and it made me cry when it happened.

Fab news about your DS too, Doormat

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 18:31

lou33 · 05/06/2003 19:02

Lovely news Doormat and Wickedstepmother.

eidsvold · 05/06/2003 19:21

wow - wickedstepmother that must have made your day and doormat... yeh!!! Enjoy trainer shopping!!

OP posts:
chatee · 05/06/2003 20:53

Doormat-how old is your ds??
the reason being when dd got her first splints we really struggled getting trainers to fit over the straps but eventually found some, this time couldn't find any with velcro to fit over and ended up with laces...nightmare!!dd thinks it's a great game but neither do I or the nursery staff-apparently if this is a major problem then the orthotics department at the hospital will actually convert the trainers with laces to velcro-as it's cheaper than providing pedro boots.
Happy hunting tomorrow!!

doormat · 06/06/2003 13:38

Thanx everyone LOL and big hugs to you all
Chatee- my ds2 is 6 but he is he looks about 2-3 years old. Thanx for the tips on the trainer shopping I have to go to the shops this afternoon.

wickedstepmother congrats on your dd saying mama.

eidsvold · 09/06/2003 06:47

Hope the trainer shopping went well.

I just wanted to add a proud moment for me and dh. We finally put dd in her own room yesterday ( after 10 1/2 mths) and she had her first night there last night. We ( me and dh) both slept through the night - did not get up repeatedly to check on her. She slept through ( as she always has) until 5.15 ( AHHHH she normally sleeps until about 6.30) but we survived...... I did miss her cheeky little face peering through the cot bars at me first thing in the morning though

doormat · 09/06/2003 08:31

eidsvold lovely to hear your news. I bet you feel like a different woman with all that uninterrupted sleep (not that we all dont mind of course).

Trainer shopping went well, I got a pair of umbro ones as the OT told me not to get Reebok, Nike or Adidas. Apparently they dont give much support for the feet. Is that true girls???
He's gone to school in them this morning. It feels weird not putting on the piedro boots.!!!!!!

2under2 · 09/06/2003 08:52

eidsvold, that's great. you can give yourselves a pat on the back for not getting up to check on dd all night!

lou33 · 09/06/2003 09:41

Aw well done baby eidsvold!

Doormat, sorry I have no idea about different brands, I have always been told that as long as the trainer covers the right amount of foot and is flexible it would be ok.

eidsvold · 11/06/2003 12:32

ohhhh we had our first painting session today... looks like I can't put off buying paints any longer. The OT had dd fingerpainting and now we have a sheet with her hand prints all over it too. She loved it.
