Thought we needed this topic here too....

mine is just exciting - today Dd cut her first tooth.

I am off to London today for a training day and it will be the longest time I have spent away from her!! SO pleased dh noticed it before I went off for the day. She has been dribbling and gnawing for weeks and finally A little tooth poked its head out of her gums.

Just wanted to share a little story about dd.

Had to go into work to sort out returning to teaching and had to take dd. She was a bit clingy and cried when I gave her to a friend for a cuddle - she has never really done that before - perhaps she is getting clingy. SHe loves this guy and knows him well - particularly his distinctive voice. Very cute to see the bottom lip come out all pouty etc.

But that is not the story - sorry I digressed. I ended up having to keep an eye on a class for a little while as the teacher had to see someone urgently on a serious matter. Did not bother me had taught the class for a year prior to maternity leave.

As they came into the room ( year 9's - 14 yo) she smiled at some of them. I laid her on her rug whilst I began to read to the class. She laughed and started talking - so I picked her up - she then just fell asleep whilst we finished reading - she was not phased by these kids in the least... she was just so well behaved.....

Also amusing to see snotty teenagers who were quite'ard( in their opinion - and hard work) go all gooey and fuss over dd.... really sweet..

Aw Eidsvold! I saw this on custy's thread but didn't want to hijack it. I can just picture the scene, so sweet. What a poppet.

Just back from holiday today and couldn't wait to log on to find out how all your little ones are doing. Great to hear about them all, really pleased for you all.
Lottie is now doing a few signs, she signs for her water/milk, sleep, food and I'm trying to each her the thankyou one. She also blows kisses to the world! She's not quite got that she's supposed to take her hand way from her mouth but holds her hand over her lips and makes the kissing noise about 12 times! she also knows to cover her mouth when she coughs which is really cute. I'm sure there's a few words forming somewhere as well. They are more like sounds that she thinks sound like the word we're saying but it's brilliant. I think we've got cat, bye, da, ma, nana, and one or 2 others. She also seems to be singing along with her Bear in the Big Blue House musical book. It's only when I've written it all down to you girlsthat i've realised how much she appears to be coming along at the moment.
Lou - can you send me a pic of your little 'un on the donkey please mate, cheers.

Feeling really proud of DD2. Never sure whether to post under special needs or not but to me she is special and does have needs so therefore I am using this topic.

She has been crusing around the furniture for about 6 weeks or so now and will walk between two people (more of a launch) but nothing else. Took her to a play centre on Sunday with her big brother and his friend and they had a soft play centre. She was sitting in the middle of the soft play area and for the first time ever got herself into a standing position - she normally has to hold onto something to pull herself up.

She then walked quite happily around going from one play thing to another. She had such a grin on her face as though she was so proud of herself, quite rightly so.

Yesterday, we had our portage worker come round (Sheila) and, as it was her first visit, she told me to let Sasha sleep as she had lots of questions to ask me about Sasha so they can build up a list of the areas in which she needs most help.

While Sheila was there, Sasha woke up so I bought her downstairs. First she sat on my lap and then asked to get down. She then walked across the room to Sheila and that was it. Yesterday, she did not stop walking. Walked round school to get the other children (took 3 times as long - must leave earlier in future) although sat in her pushchair on the way back. Yesterday evening, it was really strange. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and normally Sasha would either bum shuffle, crawl or hold onto the walls to get around. There she was, large as life, walking out of the front room, down the hall and into the kitchen. There was just no stopping her.

I feel so proud that at 20 months of age she is now walking and by the look on her face she feels so proud too.

Dd sat up by herself from lying down on the bed and then tried to roll off!! Then later she bottom-shuffled towards a toy! Two firsts in one day - I think she's trying to prove our gloomy consultant wrong about her movement

eidsvold · 26/06/2003 21:46

Great news Caroline - I love it when kids/people do that......
